Paul Robeson had a great affiliation with Wales, made at least one film based in Wales and even gave a concert to Wales by transatlantic telephone when he wasn't allowed to leave the USA. I think that he sang our national anthem, he certainly sang Ar Hyd Y Nos (in English)
I was thinking the same thing, except that all the recordings I have heard of Robeson singing it were in English, so this guy had one point better than Robeson, in that he did it in Welsh.

In fact, that's kind of ironic, wasn't it the English who forced the Welsh to speak English, almost killing our language off, before we were able to get our language printed in books, laws and street signs? What good is Welsh? Well, what good is German? What good is Swedish? Welsh is simply a language of a country. If you move to Wales, you would be expected to speak Welsh, or at least try and learn it. With your mindset, you'll be limited to English-speaking countries.

The first Welshman I ever met here in NZ had immigrated to NZ when he was 19 back in the late 50's. I loved his accent and he had no hesitation in singing this beautiful Anthem to me in both Welsh and then in English. He was 45 when I met him but he never returned to Wales [ he was from Swansea ] and to this day I will listen to this Anthem whenever I see a video of it. R.I.P. Ellis Powell

Because there are many white Welsh people who are also very passionate about Cymru, but cannot sing it (properly) in Welsh. The non whites in Wales (unless they have been to a Welsh school) tend to just follow everything in English.
Ok! So my two cents worth. It is just refreshing to see people, who you would not normally see or hear, doing something, that one must remark on what makes it unique and stand out. In this case it is the man's colour. I saw a Chinese six year old fantastic hairdresser and make up artist on the internet. His uniqueness was not colour or nationality, but his age. I am Caribbean black and was pleasantly surprised to see a black man singing the Welsh anthem and with such passion!
