    =====================
    Recipe: Makes 1 x 8" cake
    3 eggs (I used large eggs)
    1 tsp Vanilla (5ml)
    Pinch of salt
    1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
    1 3/4 cup cake flour (265g) - you can use all purpose but cake flour is preferable
    3/4 cup milk (175ml)
    1/2 cup vegetable oil (125ml)
    1/2 Tbsp Baking powder
    ⚠️NOTES:
    - Using baking strips or damp towels will prevent the cake from staying raw in the middle, having burnt edges, or forming domes.
    - You can use melted butter but note that the texture will be more dense when compared with oil based cakes

    Ran out of butter and I wanted cake, found this gem of a recipe. It was delicious!
    I used avocado oil and substituted 20g of flour for cocoa powder. Perfect choc cake

    I am a newbie in baking and I must say I have tried different recipes but this is by far the best. I have had some failed results in the past but when I followed your instructions my cake remained moist and soft even after days in the fridge. My kid loves it so thank you!

    This recipe is a favorite now. thanks so much! my kid wanted cupcakes so i used my 6-cupcake pan and the rest of the mix went into a 6-inch squared pan (it was a thinner cake but perfect). both cooked in 20min at the same time.

I also loved how the recipe doesn’t use butter. Creaming sugar and butter is the bain of my existence and I can never get it just right. This cake kind of had a pound cake feel to it and I love that! • @ButtercutBakery
      @ButtercutBakery  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hi! There isn’t really much of a difference, this recipe was made because many people were confused on how to cut the original recipe in half. Also, i added the sat and vanilla at the beginning to avoid any eggy smell. And finally, skipped the long resting phase because it was something that confused people and it was optional ☺️☺️

    • @ButtercutBakery

      Hi! The damp towels wont catch fire as long as they dont touch the heat surface, you can place your pan on a tray to be more sure! Towels will help the cake bake slower which will result in no raw middles, no domes, and no burnt edges ☺️☺️ Also happy birthday to your dad!

    Edit: realized my baking powder measurement was off. Trying recipe again today and in a diff pan 🙏🏽..forgot to add salt in the beginning, so I added it at the end. Hopefully all goes well. Halp 😅 🙏🏽

    vegetable oil only
    Melted butter only
    Vegetable oil and Melted butter
    They all came out lovely.
    Thanks so much

    This recipe looks delicious, I’m definitely going to try it! If I need to cake for 50 (I suppose I will need at least two tiers), what pans size do you think I should do? How can I calculate how much batter do I need? Thank you!!

      Thank you! I would recommend following the original recipe which is x2 this one if you need a big cake. This one makes 1 x 8inch pan which would roughly feed 15 people ☺️

    • @ButtercutBakery

      Hi Sarah! It’s totally optional and I put it in the fridge because I like to allow my batter to rest before baking to prevent bubbles. The fridge is only because where I’m from it tends to get super hot 🥰

    If i am using vanilla pods, would I use a full pod in this recipe? And also if I make it in 2 6 inch pans instead would it cook on the same temperature? Thank you for updating this recipe. Hi! Sorry I'm late to your comment. Usually 6inch pans take 40 minutes and 8inch about 45minutes.

    Hi would u recommend using the parchment paper around the sides like you did in the original Recipe video ?

    • @ButtercutBakery
      @ButtercutBakery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Totally optional to use them, if you have non-stick pans you should be good without them (make sure you check out my video on how I prep my pans, the recipe I use for that is super good!!)
      Also, the parchment paper can help add height to the pan, so if you don’t need that, save the paper 😊
      Hope this helps!
