I love this great strip pieced quilt. I love the piano key border as well and it was done so painlessly. There are so many things that you could do with the leftover strip set pieces…baby quilts, pot holders, mug rugs, etc. Thanks a bunch for the great video and free pattern. FQS is the best!
What a great tip-aligning the center folds in the jelly roll strips! You are so thorough, Kimberley! Merry, Merry and Happy, Happy to one and all and your families at FQS! ❤
My favorite quilts are Maple Sky, Magnolia, and my ultimate favorite is Hearts at Home 2. Great interview. I love all of you but I have to say Chelsea is inspiring to me. I have dreamed of designing fabric and I love watching you grow into a beautiful, confident designer.
NO WASTE VERSION: Cut three 10.5 squares from each strip set. Measure the length of what is remaining and divide that by 3 and that will be the width of the piano key strips you will cut. That would leave no waste. EXAMPLE: Assuming a 42 inch length of fabric after selvage removed, you'd have 10.5 left after cutting three 10.5 x 10.5 squares. Divide by 3. to determine you can get three 3.5 x 10.5 piano key sets. Therefore, you cut the piano keys at 3.5 x 10.5 each instead of 4.5 x 10.5 each. That gives you three 10.5 x 10.5 squares and three 3.5 x 10.5 piano key sets from each strip set, and you eliminate any waste of fabric. OR, you can cut four 10.5 squares each strip set and do a different border, or no border.
@@tracib.7725 I get that they want to sell fabric, that is their business. And I get that she starches the fabric. But so many of her quilts, I end up adjusting the math to make the cuts work with far less fabric. I buy MOST of my fabric from FQS, they get my money regardless, but it gets tiring to see the obvious "mathing" designed to sell more quantity of fabric.
Just used this cute pattern to make another “Christmas in July” quilt. My big box of Christmas fabrics never get used so I decided to cut every bit of it into 2 1/2” strips and I’ve found more free patterns from FQS to make them. Having a blast! Thank you Kimberly.
This quilt is really simple but still very cute! Well done, FQS Team! I like to make a lap quilt to coordinate with my bed quilt (you know for naps! 😁) and this is a great pattern for making an easy, fast coordinated quilt. Fun, y’all!
Thank you, Kimberly! Your tip about using two rulers to simulate a 10 1/2" square ruler was very clever. That is one of the few square rulers I do not have yet.
Wow! Pretty little quilt. Good Vibrations makes a soft pretty look because the range of color and contrast is in the middle range, (no dark in the selection). I'll try this one.
Looks so cute! I will definitely add to my queue for next year. Jelly roll Jam was my first quilt ever this year, and I look forward to the Jelly Roll Relish next year!
Thank you for the great advise/informative tutorial❤very helpful and inspiring! Printed Pattern✔️, Jelly Roll on hand✔️, Background Solid Color ✔️, Time alloted to make this beauty...working on it😊🤔🙄🥰Some how or another, will be making it✔️✔️. Will post as soom as i get it going! It'll be a wonderful goal for the New Year🎉
Thanks for the pattern. Mine is almost done. However, the one thing I had a question about is the corner piece which you didn't have an explanation for. You said "pay attention". Hmm.
Great videos! Curious, what is the name of the pretty quilt to the RIGHT side of Kimberly in this video? The one with 4 squares and looks like longer ones above and below? I love that one, too!!
I added up the measurements of all the pieces, came up to 30". If you didn't have huge selvages, you could get another 10 1/2" piece out of it. Plus, when she puts what's left over the prior pieces, it looks like it's the same measurement.
I was thinking the same thing. I’d trim the selvage very closely to try to get that extra 10 1/2” block. If all else fails you could always use the extra bits in a pieced backing.
We do not delete comments for giving tips. TH-cam has a "blocked words" option so if it was flagged it will not show up. Everyone is welcome to quilt how they want.
i lost my folks threw the years my dad was the last to pass it the hardests thing i`ve gone threw i wanna know do u have repair videos on quirts i have my dads lasts quirt i dont wanna throw it out.... thank u for your channel...
Thanks for being transparent about the scraps. Nice to plan ahead for a bonus baby quilt.
I've learned to sew strip fabrics together in different directions. It cuts down on the strip sets waving.
Thanks FQS! I love the piano border! It just gives it a little extra!

Beautiful quilt
Right! I was like, hang on…that could be better used…knew someone would have already math’d it! Thanks!

Very nice cute easy to finish quilt. Thanks bunches.
Has anyone found a good way to use the big leftover pieces? I'm surprised there was no little extra idea at the end to use them up. TY!!!!

Hello stampbee! That is the Dandelion Wishes Quilt Kit bit.ly/3QKdKyc
THANK YOU FOR THIS PATTERN...❤ Loving it. DID YOU ONLY PUT 4 BLOCKS ACROSS FOR THE LAP SIze?
Hello Vicky! Yes, that is correct.

I think it would be a neat quilt with light prints and white strips in between them. 🤍
