I just did front rotors and pads on my VE today. I need to do the tranny service, would love to do it tomorrow but i`ve left the oil and filter at my parent place and its to late to go there now to pick it all up. I`ve got engine oil and filter in the boot so I might hit that tomorrow instead. Might have to wait a little bit to do the tranny as from this coming Wednesday its going to be to hot outside for my comfort to work on cars. Now that i`ve watched your video you`ve inspired me to do it. I`ve had the oil and filter for the job for about a year now. Just couldn`t get motivated to do it as I always keep thinking to myself that its going to be hard or that something will go wrong. You make it look so easy. I`ll just have to take extra care when pulling that filter seal out. I do tend to get a little rough at times lol. Thanks for making and sharing this video. You`ve got me all G`d up to tackle this task. Cheers.
Very smooth! Thank you 😊 I’ve done before on my VT, VY & now VE (think my old VL Nissan 3L used same box also) … but, a review is always great so thanking you!
Cheers mate love the video it was awesome, now after watching your video im all set to do mine and now im getting the run about on which is rhe correct service kit, repco has 3 kits stating they fit my vehicle, but i dont think any of them do, im only planning on using a repco or ryco kit ( quality kit) do you still have the part number for your kit you used? Thanks mate keep up the good work
nice video thanks, my 4sp ve trans just started to hang on too long before changing into 4th, also flaring at times, so I`ll give the oil and filter change a try. Might have to look into what the sensors do before i drop the pan, cheers.
Great to see an Aussie channel doing car maintenance videos, too rare on TH-cam atm. My VE is a sealed transmission so do I just take note of what comes out and put the same back in and hope it's right?
Thanks for the tip, - with the grease to stop the gasket from moving. Can you apply grease to composite or rubber gaskets? Was told once that they go on dry to prevent leaking. Difficult to stay in place .
Hey mate, wanted to ask you I did r&r ona Vz commodore 4 speed auto 4l60e it all went well and is driving all Ok and changing gears well, there now has been a drive train check warning come up, any ideas on this took it down to my local mechanic he plug his meter on it and found an error on the trans but it didn’t say what and for some reason it come off but after driving again it’s come back on Thanks
@@downtheshedwithbyron yes I’ll go back over the plugs give ‘em a clean! Haha you made some good videos which helped me out but I was swearing like a pork chop sometimes haha
Bro it depends on how many coffee breaks / lemon squash is you'd like in between the process Id plan for a nice morning Saturday should get out the way 2 to 3 hours ish.
1. You are not suppose to use any grease on the gasket. 2. The crushable sleeve that goes on the filter should be taken out with much more care as you can damage the housing.
Gday mate Hey sorry for a super late reply I understand about not putting anything on most gaskets But as i was shown from an old mechanic that trick and ive always dont it I got old mate to come around the other day with the VE just to have a look for shits and giggles its still going strong with no leak And totally understand about trying to get that sleeve its a plan Have you got any info or tips on how? Take it easy mate Byron 👍

Difficult to stay in place .
I was shown that from an old mechanic and have never had a problem
Looks like there’s a big crack around the tray?
Nah mate it was all good
Funny enough i seen this car the other day and its still going mint
Just a tip for less oil spillage, I pump out the fluid via the dip stick tube with a $20 hand pump first.
Yeah sweet cool idea cheers mate 👍
Hey bro im gonna service my transmission on my 6l SSV any tips on how to get the level right as the v8s dont have a dipstick 😅
