Next time you are in a dollar store, stock up on bamboo kabob skewers! I love the dice lamps! If I were to recreate them, that's what I would use. I've used them for everything from floral picks to armature for masks and sculpture. You can cut them apart with a craft knife or heavy duty scissors, they take everything from paint and paper to polymer clay extremely well. They are the kind of thing you just keep finding more things to do with. Remember popsicle sticks from summer camp? That vibe, but pretending to be grown-up about it.

I use them as strap turners for my sewing projects! Very handy sticks.

Oh my gosh these both came out so cute! Gus's mind... That tulip lamp is an another level and it's literally just a beautifully spray painted plastic bottle I cannot get over it! And the chopsticks were such an amazing idea, too! I need the polymer clay lamp asap, I need more ideas to steal lmao
When you first said you had poop in your house, I thought Kakashi got sick my doggo got a virus in 2023. SOrry bout your sewage debacle, same thing happened to friends of ours. Love the lamps just in time for Earth day showing how to upcycle what would normally go in the trash.

I feel like you might stan someone lovingly dorky like Bang Chan. I’m obsessed with lamps and scope out the thrift stores but I haven’t found anything amazing yet. During the pandemic I bought a mcm calla lily lamp on eBay that was so expensive but worth it.
Agree so hard on not wanting the look of five minute trash crafts. Always drove me nuts the way upcyclers and the eco chic crowd try to pass off rather untransformed garbage as a cute lamp or whatever.

I'm a 31yo who just got back into K-pop last year, Stray Kids being the ones to bring me back into the fold, but sadly, I still haven't figured out my bias yet because come on, they make it so hard, but I am loving every minute being back. I’ve seen a lot of people recreate the tulip lamps with flattened leaves made out of Arizona cans that were spray painted. I think if you ever try again that can be an option, it’s also safer with the heat of the light bulb than plastic:)

I wanted more task lighting on my couch specifically (on, not just next to) and I few years ago I found a photo of a 1970s leather and brass “armchair lamp” by Luigi Caccia Dominioni that was €1500. I thought, there must be a way…so I made basically a big book weight out of felt, filled at each end with pennies, and clipped a study lamp to it. Drapes right over the back of the couch! Still so terrifyingly proud of myself.
I really want to make a cute witchy lamp but I'm so afraid of the heat if I would use plastic or some clay. But I love your ideas so much so thank you for sharing!! 🥰

I used to be an Art Mom for Elementary. We did flower art out of pop bottles. I shaped it with a heat gun and they painted. We auctioned them off at the annual Corks-n-Caps fundraiser. Mixed Media on large canvas…big hit. 🌈🌈🦋🦋

Tulips are my fave flower. About a year ago i thrifted a metal and glass tea light candle holder that is the shape of 3 tulips.

I bought shadeless pendant lamps for my work space with the expectation that once I got them hung, I would create spatially appropriate shades. Ordered rice paper and everything.
A month later, my pendants are still naked bulbs. Off to get some chopsticks. 👍👍

I am always here for a vintage lighting anything. Recently I was hunting for a glass “spaghetti shade “ to go into a lamp base I had and got the idea to make one instead using this jelly bracelet lacing type stuff and resin and a balloon to shape it on. It worked out ok but I think a second go will be the trick. Lighting upcycles.. and upcycles and non clothing thrift flips in general, yes please!
