I love all of these style prompt ideas!!! Gonna save these ideas for my own fun, even if they don’t get used for the next challenge. :)

Omg I was just 30 years ahead of my time! I made cottagecore jumpers with gathered waists in 1989 from goodwill selvages (odd sized fabric from the end of the bolt, priced for clearance or sold at thrift store). for one I used peanuts fabric that was printed to be cut and stitched into toys, but I just used it whole for the dress! The other one was pink and blue sheep print flannel. I do not have either anymore, and I was severely mocked but I had no idea I was dressing "futuristic." the sheep print dress actually kept me out of jail twice, but that's a long story...
me: not being able to sit still long enough to watch this in one go, so I end up re-starting the video 8 times.
also me: kathleen can have increased watch time as a little treat from my neurodivergent brain full of bees.

With all the book talk, maybe~ a style challenge around book culture? Fantasy, academia, romance, library, Nerdy, magic. I don’t know, just thoughts.
Oh and a style challenge idea! How about picking your favourite food or drink and styling an outfit around those colours. Eg you like avocados so style an outfit with brown and greens or caramel lattes so a cream, whites and browns outfit. It might be a dumb idea i dunno! 😂

The dress looks so good! some style prompt ideas: different -cores and aesthetics, decades or time periods, genres (sci fi, fantasy, etc), you pick an iconic fashion photo and we style outfits inspired by it, you invent your own aesthetics like strumpet rodeo clown.
My challenge idea is to pick your palette from a painting! I'm thinking Hilma af Klint or Van Gogh or Gustave Klimt or something

Style challenge ideas: trying to include many different textures of fabric in an outfit, nature-inspired, history-bounding. Wanted to repeat what another commenter said: outfit inspired by a fictional character. So excited for whenever we do another style challenge! It’s so fun. :)

Hi Kathleen! Just a suggestion but I think you should wear a white underskirt because :
1. White will make the color of the print pop even more

I couldn't find a maxi jean skirt. I put my tiered white cotton slip with the lace on the bottom, underneath my jean form fitting mini. I recently thrifted the slip to experiment with layering. It's jean, maxi, sheerish, and mermaid skirt all in one and unique cute😁. You gave me that boldness.💕

I know it's only July. I'd love to see how everyone styles for Fall. A September-October challenge where each week there's a theme (i.e. incorporate a colour you dislike/believe you're unable to pull off, how we see ourselves as Autumn Divinities, or using your favourite fall food/drink, use those colours to style an outfit and we need to guess what food we're wearing as)

Ahhh thanks for asking 🤩 I love an unconventional materials style challenge, e.g., make an accessory or outfit out of stuff from your junk drawer, pantry, or recycling bin. It can be time consuming -- could make a good one-off challenge.

Oh em gee I am here for the style challenge! I think a fun one would be styling an accessory you're new to or wearing a familiar one in a new way! Like one I just stumbled onto was wearing a handkerchief around the waist to break up top and bottom, I did it for pattern mixing too recently with a dress and damn it was fun and I never would have thought to wear my old hankies that way!
Decades days, aestetics/style days (goth, etc), color blocks, clashing.

I found such an amazing old 80s vintage bedsheet with a huge beautiful light blue Pierot clown with a tear on her cheek holding a pink rose and blue stars all around it, can't wait to turn it into a fun clown core dress too as soon as I also find the right vintage dress pattern for it!

My favourite author of all time is Laurell K. Hamilton. I started the Anita series at Narcissus in Chains, and had to go backwards to the beginning to fullfill my spooktacular needs. I don't know if it is smarter to start at the beginning, but I can tell you, once you get a couple books in, and a couple characters added 🤯 It is the most addicting series that I have ever read. The fae series she does is good too, but you know my particular favourite 🥰

I'm into the idea of different decades of the 20th century as inspo. I'm very interested in the 20th century and all the changes that happened (fashion and otherwise) but I'm not sure how much anyone else would be into this idea.

I love this dress! the pattern + colour combo is incredible 👏 A small sewing tip that might help with gathering the fabric next time: out two lines of gathering stitches about 1cm one under the other and then you can pull them to gather. This way it'll be easier to sew after because you won't have as much rolling and fluffing of the fabric right at the edge and you can just sew your pieces using the inbetween space of the gathering lines. (hope that makes sense!) I know it's double the work, but I promise it makes a difference!
