I take VitD3K2, NAC, VitC every day , never been on prescription drugs and haven't seen a doctor since 2003 except the dentist. I eat real food, no junk food ever. I'm 66 years old, work out every other day and barely have any Grey hair, all my siblings do. And Dr. Mandell is wonderful!

My Dad started losing his hair in his 20's. I never knew him with a full head of hair, but what he had, up until his death at 89, was fully black, never any grey. He always quipped that he didn't waste hormones growing hair! 😉❤
At 60, I am taking after him in one aspect, no grey! I'm the only blonde in our family (my Dad and sister were/are olive skinned with dark hair and my Mom is fair with brunette hair). I'm still naturally blonde with not a grey in sight! My sister doesn't have any either, but she also has no idea what her natural hair color is anymore! (🙀Meow! I know.)

Those of us with darker skintones should have our vitamin D levels checked because we don't easily absorb this vitamin from the sun due to the high levels of protective melanin we have in our skin. Vitamin D defiency is common in African Americans.

Went to a neurologist who decided to do blood work and found out my D was so depleted he had to give me eight pills with 10,000 units of vitamins that I had to take one pill a week. By the end of the dosage I was normal again. My hair began growing back again. He save my life. That doctor gave me back my life. I was bed ridden. To weak to walk or do anything. I thought I was having a heart attack two weeks ago so I went to the ER. Turns out I was very low on iron and needed blood transfusions from chronic blood loss. I’m in peri-menopause and bled for four months straight. My hair was falling out so now it is extremely thin. I am on iron pills now. I’m pretty upset over my hair loss 😢. So glad it wasn’t my heart and was happy to find out what was causing crazy symptoms I was having but still sad over my hair.

I had hair loss and started using a lash serum in the bald areas and it grew back. I tried Rogaine/Minoxidil and the pill form as well. I was allergic to the pill as it caused me to have an itchy and burning scalp. My head felt like I had fire ants all over it even if I tried Benadryl. After I read the bottles of Rogaine/Minoxidil and 3 treatments of it, I discontinued its use. It says if you stop using it, your hair falls out. I didn’t want something I had to use in my hair and make it feel greasy and nasty forever (plus it’s expensive). The lash serum was the best solution. I have added Vitamin D since I’ve always been low on it. My hair started falling out after I had gamma knife brain surgery for a brain tumor and a hysterectomy at the age of 43. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on a lash serum. Check the ingredients. (I used one by Younique as well as one by Rodan & Fields. R&F is the same thing as Lastisse which is about $130/mo and also advertised as a cosmetic treatment. Younique brand has the same makeup and is 1/2 the price of the R&F one. Target also sells some brands that are $7 with high ratings and the same ingredients as well. So you don’t have to spend a fortune. I prefer the wand from Younique as it is like a mascara wand. R&F is more like a tiny paintbrush.)

If you want natural remedies, then go to a naturopath and not a medically trained physician. Both have very different training styles and purpose. In an ideal world we should have best of both. No medicine is without side effects. There is always a risk of life threatening allergic reaction for example, exactly like an accident with driving. It’s up to us to make our own choices. There is no point blaming health professionals.

Oh yes, I blame a lot on “so called Health Professionals!.”However; I put my trust in Jesus, because He’s our Healer; not doctors. I’m literally broken all to pieces because of a hit & run accident that almost killed me, & have had so many surgeries that just made me worse. I have had more tests & been tried on so many medications that I lost count! I’m also allergic to 99% of all medications & am currently on Hospice Home Care. I often wonder if something natural would help with the chronic pain I live in 24/7! Only one doctor in 27 years has checked my vitamin/ mineral levels & she resigned years ago. That was my point to begin with. Lord bless you mmj.❤️👏🕊

I agree with most of the replies (the 2 replies directly below your own comment. HOWEVER, I do disagree that we should not blame the "medical professionals", the doctors/MD. The EDUCATION OF today's MDs is horribly inadequate and Biased Against anything Natural. They are Taught to Prescribe PHARMACEUTICALS despite every known side effects that damage people. In addition, the Big Pharma gives MDs various (and expensive) perks to entice them to buy anything & everything the Pharm industry creates....& falsifies results in various ways. Pharm Salesmen go to ALL MD offices for various reasons. MDs no longer even think about ethics much less follow any & do NOT critically think & make their own choices. I've wprked with MDs in their offices & in other settings. I am simply reporting what I've SEEN.

Thank you, Dr. Mandell for putting this information out. A misconception about vitamin D is that if I sit out in the sun I don’t need to take any vitamin D. I’m getting it from the sun. But as we get older, we don’t absorb vitamin D as we did when we were younger. We also are wearing sunscreen that prevent us absorbing vitamin D. Four years ago, I started losing my hair. My body hurt. I had memory loss and brain fog I was depressed. I had lethargy and disinterested in everything around me. I had routine bloodwork, and I had high calcium levels and I had low vitamin D, but my doctor say that’s not enough to worry about. But with my hair started falling out, I finally went to my doctor and said run every blood test known to mankind. My vitamin D levels were not existent which contributes to all those symptoms. He put me on 6000 a day and he said I could take up to 10,000. And I’ve seen an improvement in the pain and in the memory loss and the brain fog and hopefully my hair will start coming back in. But I want to throw out there because sometimes we have to be the best steward of our own health. If you have these symptoms and you have high calcium, have your doctor run a PTH blood test. What also was contributing to all my symptoms was I had hyperparathyroidism. I had two tumors on my four parathyroid glands. I had them removed and I was getting better, but that’s when my vitamin D was going low and all the symptoms came back. What I learned from you is how to take them properly. I didn’t realize I needed to take it with a fatty meal. Thank you very much for putting out all this information. You can’t seem to get it from your own doctors office! So hopefully my hair will start growing back, my body aches, and my memory loss and fatigue has improved! Good luck to everyone but this issue!

When I turned 40 I noticed my hair was thinning. After working indoors for years it was noticeable. Then I was indoors even more when I became caregiver to my mother. I went out less and less as her health declined. It's thinner on the top of my head. I keep my hair pulled up to make it less obvious, but sometimes I'd like to wear it down. I don't sleep well, but I'm grieving my parents, more recently my mother. That's a big factor because I am working on improving my self care so I can feel better and do better.

I had the same problem, but now I was also treated with cortisol steroid because my cortisol was non-existent, after being treated with cortisol steroid I gained 30 lb, I was also treated with growth hormone, I had vitamin D deficiency and I get the feeling that's all it was, I called four or five attorneys and they're telling me if it's not a cut off leg it's really hard to suit a doctor when they make a mistake like this. Because when all my levels started going back up, I had the endocrinologist tell me I had him a serious disease, But he's a teacher at endocrinology so he should have known better. Since then the cortisol steroid has damaged my thyroid to the point where I'm on thyroid pills every day now, because the cortisol is now pushing down my thyroid, most doctors refuse to learn anything outside their box. And then when you question things, you have doctors going are you now the doctor? A lot of these doctors have egos, terrible egos.

Now, in 2023, I haven't had any flare-ups of rheumatoid arthritis since 2016 and no medication since 2019. But I still take between 5000-10,000 ius of vit d daily.

I have Limited Scleroderma and taking a hormone blocker after having breast cancer surgery. (Cancer free…yay!) I have been losing hair since 2009 from medication. I hoped I was taking enough D3, but now after listening to your information I’m glad that’s what I ordered. I still have problems sleeping if I don’t take something to help. I’m trying now to eliminate sugar and lower inflammation. I have so much going on and the biggest is fighting calsinosis in my fingers. Oh Dr. Mandell, this video arrived right on time as I am experiencing massive hair loss. My hair is on my clothes, shower drain, it’s even on my vacuum “roller” and has to be cleared from that, I see my scalp right above my forehead as well as overall thinning. I came down with an upper respiratory illness in September that lasted 3-months that settled in my sinuses and Eustachian tubes (which has also affected my hearing) in addition to a great deal of stress and lack of sleep. I need to review my eating habits that are usually good, but everything has been off since this illness and stress entered my life. I will increase my daily D and recently re-added magnesium (that usually gives me terrible headaches) at night, and see how things pan out. I’m on BP meds (clonidine and verapamil) too so don’t know if those components are adding to the stress dramatic hair loss adds to my daily life. I am 73 and have noticed changes this year in overall strength, immune system changes, hair loss, etc. Thank you for the thorough explanation and everything you give and do for us. Deeply appreciative.

Hi Dr.Mandel, it's 9/15/23 and my hair loss has me hiding! All my life I had thick wavy hair, and now you can see my scalp on all sides. I've been trying to get greens & probiotics daily but knew there had to be more, so I will get a good vitamin d and pray it does the job. I will update you with any results. T.Y. for All you do for us.❤

I’m dealing with the exact same thing. I think it’s also the heat that we just went through. On the bottom of one of the pages in a medical book that one of my doctors has it states that humans shed exactly like dogs do in the summer. I’m still starting my vitamin D3 tonight tho. Just thought you would like to know that bit of info

I also have dealt with hair loss for years and do take the vitamins and try to do all the healthy things, but still kept loosing my hair. I decided not to let Satan win in my life and I started wearing wigs and I’m not depressed about my hair anymore, get out and do things more and have a much better life. I now have thousands of friends everywhere that I have met that also wear wigs. It’s great and now wearing different ones all the time. I wish I could tell my mother that passed away when she was 56, just put a wig on and go enjoy life. So maybe you could too. God bless.

Check your thyroid. I randomly started having extreme thinning and shedding. My hair has always been thick and long...now I'm taking Dr. Bergs Iodine and the results of the hair fall stopped, and going back to normal shedding is astonishing. D3/K2 is important, too, as Dr. Mandell mentioned.

@@myinhairitance7741: Maybe it’s Hashimoto’s disease or hypothyroidism already, if you lose hair and do not notice any other symptoms yet. I have it and I’ve been taking Thyradin every day for the last 15+ years, but every summer I lose tons of hair (handfuls with every washing) and my hair is rough and sort of hard (it’s difficult to wash and rinse it even!) and completely unmanageable…
It happens every summer, from June till October/November. I’m in Japan, we still have around 30 degrees Celsius every day, only nights have just started to be cooler lately, after rains), every summer is horribly hot and humid for me (I’m European and not “designed” for tropics at all😅).
My sister says I should try flaxseeds (linseed)…

Yes, I have a few family members who suffered hair loss at a young age and I see that in alot of young people these days!! I believe they have it harder these days all around than we did when we were younger; worse work schedules, lack of quality sleep, always on the run, over scheduled etc , and it's a shame that they're suffering from illnesses and diseases in their younger years!!

Thank you for all your informational videos! I am a bariatric patient, so nutrient absorption is difficult for me. My endocrinologist rarely prescribes meds, opting for natural vitamins and supplements. One of the things we have been concentrating on is my vitamin D levels. They are getting close to a good range, but I have seen such an amazing difference in my overall well-being; my hair is getting thicker and staying in. I sleep better. My mind has better clarity. My joints don't ache as much because it's helping the calcium strengthen my bones and joints. My lab numbers are SO much better! Between my doctor, and your videos, I should lead a very long, healthy life. Thank you!

If you want improved absorption look into liposomal multivitamins. Bypasses most stomach acids & increases absorption rate by being delivered into your small intestine where the body is able to utilize 80%+ of it.
