Chimney Swift adult flies hard into interior side of chimney

It's roosting time at the Chimney Swift nest. As usual, there are several adults resting in the shaft. One repeatedly flies hard into the wall making a loud thump each time. This action was followed by a second adult swift moving from that wall to a position closer to the nest. The young are almost ready to leave their nest for the first time.
