When I was young, my Grandparents lived very close to Toronto's Pearson Intn'l Airport. In the summers' we would sit outside in the afternoon and watch the Falcons from the Falconeering program at the airport, take down seagulls and other birds. Most probably know, but if you don't, airports around the world usually have a bird-of-prey program to keep the airport areas free of birds that can cause issues with planes landing/taking off. It was amazing to watch. Those little buggers are incredibly fast, when they dive for a target they reach speeds of 390 km/hr yep, 390!! We met one of the falconeers who told us that the seagulls/pigeons usually die from the impact and the Falcons don't even need to kill them after they've caught them.

It's interesting how they get their legs out for landing very early, way before they need them (way before I'd put my legs down for landing (I fly the paraglider)). Wonder why, as it makes the flight a bit wobbly. They probably don't want to think about any extra steps when the critical time of attack comes. I also noticed in other videos that eagles frequently don't bother to position the fish they catch head-forward to reduce the aerodynamic drag while ospreys almost always do (as seen here briefly, one foot in front of the other, this is very characteristic).

The golden eagle literally pulling the mountain goat off the mountain so that the fall will kill it is pure genius. Hardly any effort by the eagle was needed to kill the large animal.
