Here in the europe when someone says they want to buy a reliable car the answer everytime is Volkswagen, idk how they are in the US but here it is the most appreciated car by far, every other car on the road is a vw
vekyR1 the US stigmatizes VW because they think all European cars are unreliable due to stereotyping from German luxuries like BMW and Mercedes. So for us cars like Subaru and Toyota’s stay appreciated the most.
@@gpk6458 I was going to say the same, Toyota then Honda, I've had Hondas all my life and never had a single problem, which I'm quite shocked I haven't had a single issue ever, but I'm looking into getting a GTi MK6, although I'm worried about issues after watching a couple of common fault videos...
Absolutely love my GTI. Yeah, it's had it's issues. Like Spark plugs, coils, and even the pain in the ass of switching out headlights. Dealership tried to charge me upwards of 600$ for what would be 70$ bulbs, and installation. That's when I started to fall in love with tuning my car by myself. It's a lot to tune, and guys like you make it accessible man. Thanks!
i agree with you 100% , my brother got me into Volkswagen with his Mark 3 gti so I recently just bought a mark 6 gti 2 door with leather seats , sun roof etc. and I love it . great video man
My MK6 GTI has 130K on the odometer.....regular maintenance, plugs, coils, DSG service every 20K, and Liqui Moly 5W-30.I put 3K on the road twice a year with zero problems. I keep it clean, clay bar twice a year and wax after wash to protect the clear coat. It still looks new....:)
Hi, i am about to get soon an 2013 mk6, 2 door from a buddy of mine, 80k on the clock, 1 onwer. Concerned about couple things. Mpg, since i drive a lot, 100 miles per day, and reliability for a car with 80k... can you folks share your experience about mk6? Muuch apreciated!
With 98RON fuel and steady motorway driving I would get 42-45mpg for a near 100 mile daily drive. Car has nearly 100k miles on it now, probably needs new plugs/coils. Carbon build up is probably an issue too now.
I have a GTI also. It's a 2014 5 door Wolfsburg Edition. It's DSG. I absolutely love it!! It's totally stock. I didn't pay for the car!! Haha. My parents bought my first car for me. Anyways, as a daily driver it is fantastic! It never fails to put a smile on my face every time I drive it. It's very quick and handles like a dream. One thing I would add, is how stable it is at high speeds for a hatchback. They're so well-built. And the noise of upshifts with the DSG is addictive! And, it's weight, or lack of weight. It's so nimble and so agile and so responsive because there's no weight to lug around. Taking corners at normal speeds is so fun. I just downshift to 3rd for the fun of it! Nice car bro.
I normally dislike this car because 90% of the gti drivers are immature picks..but I have to say you are a genuinely nice guy. I also love the look of the seats :) great channel, keep on grindin'
I am an old fart but you are right on! I had a 2009 MKV with an APR tune, BSH intake and Induktion Motorsports downpipe with the stock "suitcase" muffler. The downpipe with the stock muffler made it quiet until you put your foot down. The car was awesomely reliable and would get up to 37 mpg with 93 octane tune on I-95. I would throw CELs until I got a spacer for the downpipe (they all do that) and that was the only problem. I want another one!
Love it man! I have the same color Golf but a 2 door and the R version. Our cars literally look the same. We have the same wheels and the blacked out emblems. I saw you have mostly Unitronic mods which is awesome. I just installed the Unitronic Turbo back and sounds amazing. Wish we lived closer bro so we could meet up and cruise
I've had 5 different Hondas with the Si badge ranging from a '91 CRX to a '12 Si and then I got a Mk6, which has the best-handling stock suspension I've ever driven. It is also noticeably quicker and the steering is way more precise.
love the honesty mate. I have often slept in my mk5 gti and I can think of far worse places to be. just be sure to turn the interior motion sensor off haha.
‘It’s a VW - it shouldn’t be reliable but it is’ WWWHHHAAAATTTTTT. What are you used to driving? In Europe VW (and the wider VAG family) are the epitome on reliability. Great video other than that insane statement. Completely agree with everything you say. I have a 2009 Mk GTI and it’s brilliant. .
I don’t know what Americans do to their cars but over here (UK) they are rock solid reliable. If you don’t follow the service schedule then like all cars they will break down. I have owned 6 golfs, a Jetta, Audi Quattro, Audi coupe, Audi A4 and a Skoda Superb. Never has one let me down. Same can’t be said of the BMWs Ihave owned. Toyota s are also bomb proof. From the way you talk you’d think someone had inflicted a Yugo on you and you’re shocked it actually moves. There’s a good reason why the rest of the world won’t buy American cars.
Love your video Patrick and I do agree with you. I have a question, I myself own a MK6 Gti 5 doors and I am thinking of doing some small mod to it. I was wondering if I change my exhaust and intake will be there any difference in power compare to stock. Appreciate your response bro.
Patrick.. I'm having the R version now.. do u think I should go for the GTI in terms of handling and user interface is it worth ?? I have a plan to shift the GTI !! And the most important thing which I concern about is the fuel usage quantity.. do u find any major differences in that??

For the first mods, just do a catback exhaust, an intake, and a tune. Those will wake the car up drastically. I recommend Cobb if you're going to be modding a lot, or APR if you just want a quality and reliable tune.
Start with some simple stuff like new wheels and tires. I'd get a stage 1 tune by APR or Unitronic. They will walk you through a lot of complex stuff. Installing a cold air intake with that stage 1 tune will be a good first learning project if you're new to modding.

Im gonna run a tune on my mk6 soon I'm just worried about warranty once Cobb is flashed back to stock do you think it will come up at a dealer
If you take Cobb off of the car completely before you bring it in to the dealer, it should be fine.
They can see that the ECU has been flashed if they scan it at all but just unplug it before you take it in and hope they don't scan it.
