I did laugh at how nerdy Kayvan got over his ground source piping lol. Let him have his moment 😂. Maybe create his own segment for these technical updates

A good general overview for us non- nerds and a technical side bar for those who love this kind of information may be a good way forward. Kayvan's lovely calm voice did have me nod off for a bit until his monologue was interrupted by the request for some feedback. I am thoroughly enjoying your vlogs and am in admiration of both of you for your work ethic, joy, and love of homesteading. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

don't know anything about heat pumps and all that. but I sat here mesmerized by Kayvan's explanation of all. There is a beauty to listen to someone who is so detail oriented. I am a coder like he is, and I can see him in a meeting room, explaining the project design, every last detail is handled, all questions answered. Lovely! this episode was a geek's dream.

  • @missglenellen

I have no clue what he is talking about too! But still it’s interesting what both of you are doing to make your home habitable and cozy! Videos only about apples and blueberries wouldn’t show the reality! Even if your crumble with that amazing custard in those beautiful hand made bowls looks sensational! So I suppose it’s about the mix of all of your activities which makes your channel so authentic and entertaining. Thank you for another lovely episode!

For me I love the detail, you could always put a note at the start of when he gets technical saying “fast forward to X minute if you don’t want the detail”

  • @ruththomas6361
    @ruththomas6361 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

Keep the detail. If someone doesn't want to hear all that, they can fast forward. I agree with the do-it-right-the-first-time philosophy. I say it like this: "If you don't have time to do it right, when are you going to have time to do it over?" and, "Any job worth doing is worth doing right." You can tell: I hate things done sloppily!!! Love you guys and love your videos.

Before becoming disabled I had a tremendous garden.Nasturtium is not only beautiful, but edible. A bit peppery and lovely in salads. I used to stuff the flowers with various spreads. I grew borage as well. Also delightful with a cucumber flavor and great in various presentations.

I really respect his knowledge and how much research and education goes into to his decisions on the renovation. It’s admirable and enviable. You could provide people with a numerical marker if they choose to fast forward on the detail. Because there probably are some that are wanting the details on the piping and heat pump etc. I’m not personally one of them but I’m sure it’s very helpful to others.

Even though I won't be doing ground heat any time soon (sadly, ever?), I am actually Very interested in the details and details of future builds, etc. And with the wonderful wonderful lack of music, the sound of his voice is calming. I can be doing other tasks and have different levels of focus depending on what grabs me that day/moment. And I can replay sections if I want to go back and really focus on details that my brain glossed over. And for anyone closer to doing this same work, it is Priceless to have the details. For many of us, one day we might find ourselves diving even deeper into these sustainable practices and we can do a search on your channel to slowly go through your experience with it. There is always someone who will benefit from Kayvan's research - and we can all marvel at what is going into making your cottage liveable. I for one find it genius to use the broken up pieces of the concrete flooring for filling the wire cages - as I'm a devotee of repurposing and upcycling. Having said that - I also totally agree on going for the best products possible when you do need to buy new - as the investment pays for itself over the years - and, as Kayvan says - he plans to only do it once. Thank you again for sharing all these aspects with us. AND - the bowls, crumbles and custard are a delight to see. By the way - I myself always nip the flowering/bolting parts of basil off, as the flavour changes. Basil is a wonderfully easy plant to re-grow from plant parts, so if handled well - you won't need the seeds anyway. I also live in a northern country, so pot up some - or create a hanging plant of basil to overwinter. The basil scent is a delight to have during the winter - and the hanging plant is beautiful. Looking forward to your next video!!!

Thanks for taking the time to write such a wonderful comment.
Our Basil was not a happy plant really. It came up with the goods, just about, in the peak of summer. But otherwise was suffering quite a bit. Think it didn't enjoy the proximity of so many other plants keeping the moisture levels high. Like your hanging basket overwintering idea though.
      We appreciate you.

I very rarely comment - But I have to say the detail and explanations are fascinating.
One of my dreams is to be able to build my own property, or at least renovate one back from almost bare brick.
I see so much in the UK where large building companies cut corners and do things at speed with new builds, I don't think I could ever trust them.
All this to say I too have done lots of research and love hearing about the whys and specifics; I soak it all in like a sponge! Kayvan is great at explaining; the only improvement would be a diagram! (It was great for understanding the appendeges!).

All of it. The why and how, etc. I will never do this but it is fascinating to hear what is needed to build what you need without "city" services.

Even if I don't understand the technical stuff hearing someone who has obviously put a lot time into researching and has an enthusiastic way of presenting the info is always entertaining. Nice to watch all 3 of you have your moment in the video on subjects you have more personal interest in is a positive to your content. Keep it all in 😉

I’m with you on the technical aspect of your renovation but, you can just see how into the details your husband is, soooo I’m not hating it because it makes me smile (it’s kind of cute)to see someone that intense about the details. Besides, I thoroughly enjoy your process. 😁👍❤

I love all the details, it's not something I've done before and it's incredibly interesting especially when it comes with crack resistance 😉

Delighted to see you embracing the Kerry Gold butter ❤ For pastry or crumble I usually freeze the amount of butter I need and grate it into the flour, saves time 😉

We also built our house and my husband is the same way as yours. So even though it would interest my husband… it’s over my head too! 😆 But keep it in for those who geek out on this detailed info.

FWIW I love this kind of detail! But then we're embarking on a similar fun project so love that we can learn from Kayvan :)

Kayvan needs to do a video on how the heat pumps work 🤩

To be honest, I had to give up when Kayvan was talking about his pipes but my partner found it very interesting so I just went and made tea:) loving your journey though, makes me homesick☘️😎

Southwest Ireland is my favorite part of the country. My uncle, years ago, used to live in Glengarriff. I thought my visit there was magical.
I love that Kayvan is passionate about the heat in your house, but he lost me after the words "heat exchange". He then switched to Swahili...
I think. Please don't change your explanations for me, I'll just appreciate your expertise.

I have watched a number of new water pipes & sewerage being laid but the quality of the products that Kayvan sources is a much better quality. It makes so much more sense to buy good products once & be done with it.

Absolutely let Kayvan share his knowledge! While my eyes glossed over a little bit in, there is someone out there who is saying " Awesome, that's just the detail I needed to know!".

Just Googled “ground source heat pump“ to figure out what the heck he’s talking about. I had never heard of that before since I live in a dense Southern California suburb. What a smart, eco-friendly system! No wonder you’re excited! Go ahead with the details. I’ll follow along much better now.
