Allardyce and Burke were team mates at Bolton a few years before, a couple of years later Allardyce and Sutton would be Boltons centre halves for 85 season. Gets monstered in this game though does Big Sam!
That’s what I liked about the old match of the day, they would show league football other than the 1st division. And I still haven’t forgiven Peter Willis for sending off Kevin Moran !!
LOL 49:30 in the post game recap of a foul on Garth Crooks. That would be a yellow minimum today and the player would be rolling all the way to Millwall! There was a lot less dramatics back then. Good old no nonsense footy.
I'D FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT POSTPONED MATCHES,MATCHES CALLED OFF,USUALLY A WIPEOUT IN SCOTLAND AND THE POOLS PANEL FORECAST I'VE NOT SEEN THAT POOLS PANEL FOR DECADES!MAN.WHAT A MEMORY THAT IS!DIDN'T HUDDERSFIELD BEAT MILLWALL 4-3? FROM 0-2? I THOUGHT THAT THAT WAS IN THE SECOND DIVISION IN 1985-6.WELL MILLWALL WENT UP WITH HULL CITY AND BRADFORD.SO HUDDERSFIELD MUST HAVE GONE UP FROM THE THIRD DIVISION IN 1983 OR 1984.THAT RINGS A VERY VAGUE BELL.
How shit was Allardyce? I remember him being poor back in the 70s but he'd lost everything by this stage. He'd never have been a pro in any other era. Ironicall George Graham,Millwall boss at the time, would go on to win the First Division title with Arsenal (twice) just a few years later.
Barry, "the ball came down late"?? It cant come down late or early! It just comes down when the momentum force from the kick & the pull of gravity then dictates its downward momentum. But not late or early. Football commentators, eh. Cracking goals, cracking ball. Bring that ball back rather than that silly big ping pong ball they play with. Dont watch it. Just TH-cam. Thanks for all the 60s - end of 90s Motd & ITV various when footy was footy. No silly wages & transfers in sensible millions!
Although I'm not a Millwall fan I went to this game with a Millwall mate of mine, was in open end with the other 40 or so,I remember the day well loads of trains cancelled from London that day which was obviously the reason only a few Millwall went.I live and do still live in the North so we has no problem getting there.Allways remember the old bill giving us all a lift back to the train station in a police van to obviously avoid The big Hudders mob they has out that day...

And in those days the referees were policeman or headmasters!
Athelstan Edwardson couldn’t believe it when he sent Moran off. I thought we’d lost the game then, definitely.
Sweet 80's football
0:15 is that comedian Lance Percival (chef in Carry On Cruising) or an impression of Ken Dodd by Noddy Holder?
Sam apologising to the Ref for swearing ... Good lad.
Huddersfield's 4th goal didn't look as if it crossed the goal line?
To Anthony: It seems as though the whole ball didn't; but, the rules may have been different then. Puzzling.
Big Sam absolutely skinned down the left wing so many times

Probably to avoid getting recognised on TV for their pre or post-match antics
Treatment...one of Millwalls firms. Usually a few more, but I think there was winter weather problems that day.
