    Outside of Hoddles peg! Not to many players could do that back in the day......and I’m an Arsenal supporter

      Hoddle was a genius and revered around the world by the football in Rates including Cruyff, Maradona & Zico all of which said that he was world-class , but he was greatly wasted and unappreciated in an England era preoccupied with work rate and crunch tackling that got us nowhere. He would be in the hundreds of millions of pounds on the transfer market now.

    I don't watch match of the day now, PL is boring, bad officiating and too much cheating. Much rather watch the old classic MOTD

    Hoddles goal should've made the GOTS list, it certainly made the rounds of 'classic goals' compilations in following years, is it too late to put it in instead of Clive Allens tap-in? lol

    The final years of the late, great British game.

      For me it includes the 1990s, teams still mainly Brits, about 4 overseas. Same ball dynamics since 1966 say, unlike the ping pong ball used now & tackling, thanks Vinnie! Money, well wages much more but still sensible like a pop singer & transfer fees at about 5 mill or so. Now the money its crazy, even during Covid they got full wages in 30-50 grand a week, unlike ground & office staff got furloughed for taxpayers to pay. Truly shameful.

    I will always have a great feeling of warmth and nostalgia for the football in this era, . .some great players , and teams,..who produced the goods week in week out on muddy pitches , and at a time when hard tackling was part and parcel of the game....today's game as an artificial almost manufactured look to it today,...perfectly manicured pitches, and pampered overpaid Players are the norm now,...more's the pity,....I loved the imperfections and grittiness of the old games,.. When players played hard , and VAR was just a distant nightmare.......yes Saturday afternoon at 3 on a cold blustery winters day, sipping cold tea, and munching on a lukewarm hotdog , cheering your team on , as they battle for the points on a quagmire of a pitch,....as the rain sweeps round the ground and into your face....miss those great times

      @@kailashpatel1706 I live in the Midlands , and I recall retuning home after a match in the 1980s on a wintery night popping in for the late local paper to get all the days football results, ...I'd get in the house , put the kettle on and settled down to see how my pools coupon had done, ....them times seemed much simpler ,....great memories

      @@chrisevans5259 the pools is a throwback!! but when i see players of that time like cowans, steve coppell, morley, regis, perryman etc etc they all could tackle and header a football..look just at the 1990s and scholes and beckham could not do either, not very well anyway..

      @@kailashpatel1706 I have some great memories of going to games in those times, and there seemed an honesty with players, Bryan Robson , was a real favourite of mine, he gave everything in games,.. to much sometimes that's why he was prone to injury,.... football today hasn't the soul , raw emotion or excitement of these times,....

    What a fantastic effort from Ipswich Town. They had a great side and pushed Liverpool all the way.
    This title has to be one of the most satisfying for Liverpool, with so many new young players in the team.

    Just look at the Anfield pitch on the last day of the season.......grass and mud,excellent and not like today's bowling green pitches where the players walk off as clean as they did at kick off.

    • @seltaeb3302
      @seltaeb3302 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly what I've said. Pitches are green but sterile, unlike the 20th C where they had a factor in the game. The Baseball Ground was awful come September 😄 but you got cracking matches & skill. Even non League clubs now have perfect pitches, where's the mud..

    • @dlamiss

      Robson built a cracking side from around 73 to when he left in 82. They were unlucky in 81/2 as Liverpool bulldozed everyone after Christmas. Having said all that Ipswich should have won more trophies than the two they managed
