    The reason the trade federation became so influential is because Hego Damask aka Darth Plagueis invested in them. Furthermore, the republic was so focused on the core of the galaxy, that outer rim worlds had to depend on the trade federation for everything.

    The Republic allowed the Trade Federation to get a major monopoly on trade in the Outer Rim, and no doubt that gave a lot of money and influence. The Trade Federation used the Outer Rim needs for economic aid, and which the Trade Federation filled in. Though the Trade Federation became to corrupt and powerful that it started to do everything to fill in their pockets. The CIS probably realize that they needed these companies to survive.

    I would paint a different scenario . The royals step down in Naboo . The Trade Federation steps in and gives equal rights to the nonhumans living in Naboo . The main reason the war happened is the elites didnt want to step down and give equal rights to sentient creatures like Jar Jar. Only when the Trade Federation shows up do they even consider an Alliance for their aquatic neighbors because they still have a standing army ready to fight the humans previously.

    • @19Pyrus70

  • @zexalbrony4799

    Not that the Sith Grand Plan wasn't executed great, but wouldn't it have been a lot easier just to use an army of the Trade Federation and other big businesses to take over the entire galaxy, especially with how much influence the Trade Federation had already. In fact, why not get a Sith Nemodian, then you'd have someone on the inside who can control a large portion of the galaxy, like Plagueis with the Banking Clan.

    • @matthiuskoenig3378
      @matthiuskoenig3378 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you want the rich core world's population on your side. and the majority of the galaxies population was human, and most humans were anti-alien. additionally, the other big companies and corporations might not be as easily taken control of.

    • @zexalbrony4799
      @zexalbrony4799 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair points and all-important for galactic domination. However, given how easily manipulated and controlled most galactic corporations like the Banking Clan, Techno Union, the Commerces Guild, Cooperate Alliance, and many others were into joining the Separatists and starting the Clone Wars I don't think it would have been as hard as you think to take them over. In fact, after the Clone Wars, most of the corporations and companies were assimilated into the Empire without too much trouble.

      @zexalbrony4799 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HolyknightVader999 To be fair, people still revolted under the Empire too. But you do make a good point, but if they had enough resources they could have taken over the entire galaxy by force instead of through very impressive manipulation. Heck, many argue the Separatists could have won the war with their numbers alone, and if it wasn't for the manipulations of the Sith to make them lose and the war kept going the odds were about even they could win it and take the galaxy by force.

  • @brendenshouse5807
    @brendenshouse5807 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The Trade Federation helped their constituents greatly, at least at first. The quality of life on the worlds they were on drastically increased. Although the rebellion in the first three movies was engineered by the Sith, the rebels had very valid points as you've already discussed. I would argue that the reason the trade federation became so evil was completely due to the Sith influence. The Republic wasn't, especially in the later years, the shining beacon of light that everyone pretended. In Darth Bane: Path of Destruction the evils of the Republic were very clearly visible. Bane himself was an indentured servant who was stuck in Hacienda like conditions that made him little more than a slave. The republic ignored most outer rim worlds. I don't know if it was intentional but the disdain the core has for the breadbasket of the galaxy and the outer rim mirrors the attitude many people in large cities in America have for the agricultural areas. Once we ignore what the Jedi said and focused on their actions they also begin to look much darker than the movies would like us to believe. The way the Jedi stole children from their parents, legally, to train them in the ways of the force is very reminiscent of the Psi-Corps in Babylon 5. The Trade Federation was a good thing corrupted by the Sith. The entirety of the clone wars was orchestrated to make Corporations and aliens to be hated. Doing this allowed the Sith to build an empire where they nationalized(Galacticalized?) all products for their own benefit like the Nazis and Communists have throughout history. Grievous, as you've discussed in other videos, helped bolster anti-alien sentiment within the Republic, aligning the masses with Darth Sidious' ideals. I would argue that without the Sith Influence the Trade Federation would've been a boon for centuries longer to their constituents.

  • @notv_internetuser3789
    @notv_internetuser3789 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Trade Federation was not originally a bad organisation other than a business that sought to help planetary systems to develop trade routes in the outer rim to increase prosperity, which the Republic abandoned.
    The whole purpose of a droid army was to protect planetary systems from war and piracy, clearly the droid army was a force for peace, protection and life.
    Only when the Sith took over, the Trade Federation went bad. If only the Trade Federation were formed in the days of the New Republic with its droid army, it would have been a force for good against the First Order.

      @Qut Boy Communist Empire? The words "communism" and "empire" are ideologically antithetic. Soviet Union and China both supported freeing the colonies from the European worlds and the word "empire" was a curse word for them even though they were totalitarian themselves. The word "Empire" is associated with old power in Europe, the right-wing aristocrat elite. Not socialists.
      The Republic = Current United States (except without political will and no industrial complex)
      The CIS = Today's economical China infused with the ideological South in the US Civil War
      The Empire = The Late Stalinistic Soviet Union.

      @@kungolaf4499 Although the USSR and China would both definitely not use the word "empire" to describe themselves due to both nations being born out of revolutions against a true imperial government (well, in China's case it is a bit more complex since they had a whole warlord period but the PRC definitely sees itself as a continuation of that original revolution), but to say that they supported freeing the colonies for any ideological reason is just false.
      The USSR and PRC support for freeing the colonies was purely geopolitical. Even now, the Russian state still uses the exact same rhetoric to describe the situation in West Africa, where Wagner mercenaries are assisting Russian-backed forces in the region, saying that the states that prefer staying aligned towards France are vestiges of colonialism.

    It's reallty all so comical actually. It's all shinanigans.
    Palpy makes them hate him and blockade his homeworld, but he is their leader. So, everyone likes him because he is basically against their enemy, and becomes their leader because of this, and in the end, blockading his own world was his plan. Because like. Of course it is. I mean. You can't not just lead people under the guise of being reallly against yourself? It's just not trolli... I mean it isn't dark... enough
    It's not cunning enough,
    i mean, yes, manipulative sith yes, that's right. That's what intended, deceive.... right, anyway...
    So like, if you get power by making one sid elike you, the other side will hate you. So, the only sensible thing to do is say that you will defeat this dude, and technically, it will be true. He can always loose something here or there to keep both sides under wraps.
