Hello! We have had requests for a Q/A since we started posting PCT episodes… so let’s do it! If you have a question you would like us to answer in an upcoming video, you may submit it as a reply to this comment. Depending on how many questions there are, we will try to address as many as we can in a Q/A video soon. If there are a bunch, then maybe in a couple different Q/A videos. If you wish, you can submit a video clip asking us the question yourself! This way, we can use the clip so people don’t have to hear us talk as much. If you choose to send us a video, you acknowledge you give permission for us to use the video in an upcoming upload. Please be brief and respectful. We hope some people will choose to send a video so we can (sort of) meet some of you who have encouraged us along the way! TLDR: Have a question? Type is as a reply to this comment. OR send us a video clip with this link: www.dropbox.com/request/Qw6jcsvgpj0S7LImfWu6
I am curious how you handle this kind of adventure financially? You mentioned previously having a house, do you turn off utilities, how does it work with jobs? I am a web developer with a wife and kids, so not sure how I could ever take so much time off... ( maybe when my kids move out :D ), thanks!
I’ve often heard it said that “The trail will change you”: I’m curious if you feel this thru hike has changed you in any way, and if so how? As always thanks for the work you put into these outstanding videos!
I’m going to miss living this adventure vicariously through your vlogs. Thank you for putting so much effort into documenting it and sharing it with us. You will have these as precious memories forever.
Happy anniversary! What a beautiful and memorable way to celebrate 5 years. And thank you again for sharing your journey with me. I’m looking forward to finally seeing you reach the Canadian boarder. What a tremendous achievement. As for my question, please tell us what you both do for a living and how you are able to disconnect like that for 5 months. I find it difficult to disconnect for a week at the beach! Thank you.
So sorry the weather around Glacier Peak was so cloudy. It’s a very pretty part of the trail. You two are staying with it fine. Good to see Rob smiling more. Hope the knee gets better Cassie. And congratulations on the five years! I’m at 63 and counting. I wish you many, many more five years and hikes to go with them. Best, Bill
I can't believe that it is coming to an end. I know it ended for you month ago but I'm glad you continued to post this way as it has given me something to look forward to each week. I'll be happy and sad when your last vid drops but at least I get to binge watch start to finish at the end.
I had to go back and watch your first bunch of videos to see how much more comfortable you are in front of the camera. Within the first video you said if this doesn't work "oh well" but it has work and you are both doing a great job in front and behind the camera. Can you talk about how vlogging your adventure has enhanced or hindered your adventure? Can you also compare the difference between the dry desert of CA or the rain forests of the Cascades in WA. All the best from BC, Canada
This segment really captures the "mood" of the PNW weather. What a great way to share your anniversary together. Thanks for capture your adventure. I have enjoyed following along.
I've loved watching your journey each week, lovely photography and positive attitude and today felt a little pang of "it's soon going to be over soon and what will I watch" ..... a bit like when a TV series ends. Hope you guys cope well with any post trail blues together. What an experience to have been through together ❤
Thank you guys... Have watched your videos from the beginning and now I am even recognizing parts of the PCT I hiked in 2018. I appreciate the effort you put into the videos, they bring back lots of memories... 💚
For the Q&A I would like to know the full history of Cassie’s COAL beanie - that beanie is is worth an entire episode - have loved your adventure, and love you guys and the positivism that you give off - can also see that Cassie has become a river crossing legend!
For the last few years I've watched numerous PCT vlogs but I think I have enjoyed watching yours the most. We probably only have one more episode to look forward to, it really has been an enjoyable time tagging along with you though. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Bitter sweet seeing everyone I met down in SoCal ending their hikes. Thank you guys for continuing the videos!! Been such a joy to watch and full of inspiration.
I've seen a lot of PCT through hike videos and i enjoyed yours the most by far. CDT hike in the future? BTW the universal whistle destress call is three short burst. That is so it is not confused by animal sounds. Some birds make that same sound as the marmots and it was quite confusing at first.
What a great adventure you both are living, and also sharing with us! I'll be sad when you finish your trip, you've been like friends we are impatient to follow on your journey. Congratulations for the filming, the music,Casie's smile, your sense of humor! Please keep in touch even after you get to the Canadian border.lol
Oh guys, I can't believe this is almost over... I'll miss your videos. Again, thank you for sharing it with us. The PCT will always be my dream. Happy anniversary! With love from South Africa.
Been with you two from the start....haven't missed a single vlog. Incredible accomplishment ! I really enjoy your vlog style...the music...the fact that you don't do a lot of talking, just enough to give some info and express your mood/thoughts etc....then lots of scenery and appropriate background music. Nice work....both of you....and Rpb...I love your beard. ;-D All the best as you two finish this up...if you haven't already. Enjoyed tagging along, thanks for sharing !
You both have really been PCT beasts. So much enjoyed you sharing your adventures with us. WA has what I always called Bipolar weather, emphasis on polar. Even in mid summer you can get snow in the higher elevations. But wet fog is the norm. But when you can get blue skies it is beyond spectacular. But you can’t plan it. My best picture of mt rainier was after it had been foggy all day, at sunset the clouds parted for a moment showing off a picture postcard view. No one believes when I show them that I took that picture with my phone. It almost looks fake cuz it’s so gorgeous. But for 14 hrs it had been pea soup fog. That’s WA. And that just makes you sleepy anyway. When you are mentally and physically exhausted it really can definitely you. Thanks for keeping it real.
Keep Going ❤️❤️, You never know what you will find on youtube and i found your channel and thought ok ,people are living life, why am i being sad. thank for videos. Excited for the end. Love from India ❤️
Rob you should do a 'moving picture slide show' of the beard growth start to finish. Background music would have to be The Proclaimers 'I would walk 500 miles'. Just saying. 🤔🧐😉
I've been following you guys and I hate to wait for the next episode but when I see you will be posting I smile and I frown when its over. can't wait to see you reach Canada!! You two are the best. Peach
Well, it looks like Washington gave you typical weather. Crappy with a capitol C. It DOES seem a little odd to know we will only probably see you one more video then you will be gone. I hope this experience will have brought you two closer together upon reflection.... you two have endured one hell of a lot and should be proud of yourselves. Note:Rob is looking appropriately Sasquatch these days!!!
Knowing what you know now about how the fires have changed the nature of the hike including detours and burned out landscape would you still choose to engage in this thru hike. I am reading from other knowledgeable hikers that maybe the future of the "quintessential PCT through hike" is becoming less manageable since the bar keeps getting raised for conditions that were not previously as present as they are now. Good on both of you for persevering. We also endured this years Dixie Fire including evacuation and everything feels not the same anymore. Sierra City to Belden is our mountain backyard. Cheers and good luck with all your future endeavors, what's next get a boat and sail around the world, you certainly seem to have the demeanor and fortitude?
Will Washington lived up to its reputation of being “wet”. Sorry you had to endure the clouds and lack of views, but what you saw was beautiful. Actually would like to visit the North Cascades after seeing your video. Question: Your favorite most comfortable waterproof women’s hiking shoe ? Congrats on completing this wet section!
This section is beautiful, but also one of the hardest on the trail. Still, enjoy! Just hope you don’t get the torrential rain and early snow north Washington is famous for.
The following is for Rob..... I can almost see it That dream I'm dreaming But, there's a voice inside my head saying You'll never reach it Every step I'm taking Every move I make feels Lost with no direction My faith is shaking But I, gotta keep trying Gotta keep my head held high There's always gonna be another mountain I'm always gonna wanna make it move Always gonna be an uphill battle Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose Ain't about how fast I get there Ain't about what's waiting on the other side It's the climb The struggles I'm facing The chances I'm taking Sometimes might knock me down, but No, I'm not breaking I may not know it But these are the moments, that I'm gonna remember most, yeah Just gotta keep going And, I, I gotta be strong Just keep pushing on, "cause There's always gonna be another mountain I'm always gonna wanna make it move Always gonna be an uphill battle Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose Ain't about how fast I get there Ain't about what's waiting on the other side It's the climb. How did your dog react when she/he saw you when you returned? I hope you have that on video.
What camera did you use? Did you ever consider quitting?
I’m curious about post hike reentry. What are you doing now? Depression? Next hike?
I’m going to miss living this adventure vicariously through your vlogs. Thank you for putting so much effort into documenting it and sharing it with us. You will have these as precious memories forever.

Good work! When we did that section, it rained/was the "hiker car wash" for three straight days!! We never saw Glacier Peak either!!!
I’ve so enjoyed following along with your incredible adventure. I love the way you two interact and support each other. ❤️

What an absolute joy it has been to follow along on your journey. I admire your honesty and transparency as you share.

That beanie hasn't aged at all. It looks the same in every episode!
Ha, agreed on the Coal beanie! In one video, Rob filmed her waking up in a hotel bed wearing it 😂
For the last few years I've watched numerous PCT vlogs but I think I have enjoyed watching yours the most. We probably only have one more episode to look forward to, it really has been an enjoyable time tagging along with you though. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thanks for another great episode.
I'm looking forward to the grand finale!
Congratulations on your anniversary, and wishing you many more happy trails together!

It was nice to have a little insight from Rob at the end. Sorry you had to miss some beautiful views in this section.
You will always have this wonderful achievement to bind you together. Thanks for sharing it.

Do those animals, critters try to get the food in the tent?
Happy anniversary!!!

Day 142?? Must be remote workers 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Extremely remote.

Great vid as usual. What software do you use for the route near the end on the vid
Well done guys 🖖
You managed to video some great scenes despite the hard going.
I’m starting mid March, thanks for the inspiration and motivation x

I’ve actually never worn waterproof shoes so I can’t help too much on that one unfortunately!
Oakley
@@HeadingSomewhere I bought Keen Waterproof and they are excellent as hike in wet conditions. Fairly lightweight high top. SouthernOregonCoast
This section is beautiful, but also one of the hardest on the trail. Still, enjoy! Just hope you don’t get the torrential rain and early snow north Washington is famous for.
Spent two weeks hiking in New Mexico and had 6 days of cold rain. It’s really challenging and depressing.
Besides the mention of the bear cub, did you run into many bears while on this hike?
After testing out all those knee braces what it the make and model of the brace you ended up using and were you happy with the results.
How do you know it’s a varmint whistling and not another hiker in distress?
Where do you live?
They're in the PNW...
Great video - love watching train wrecks in slow motion. I did not waste 20 minutes of my life. I skipped the cloudy bits.
The following is for Rob.....
I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreaming
But, there's a voice inside my head saying
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking
But I, gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down, but
No, I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments, that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And, I, I gotta be strong
Just keep pushing on, "cause
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb.
