- Last week it was looking increasingly like the engine would have to come out. This week things are looking more hopeful for the InfluEnzo, my cheap Ferrari 308. I also get to start it up without a silencer on..!!!

Your boundless positivity in the face of the Influenzo, is like the 'unstoppable force meets an immovable object' analogy.
This is the only TH-cam channel I watch where my stomach goes from normal, into knots, back to normal, into knots again, and finally somewhere inbetween as a smile breaks over my face as I hope that it will be ok in the end - every god damn video I watch. Its a real roller coaster ride every episode. And I don't even own the car, one like it, or have any vested interest, other than it all works out for you.
Thank you mate, have a great weekend!
Your enthusiasm is just amazing to watch and follow Jack...Those t-shirt designs are fantastic, I’d definitely get some made up as well as mugs etc.
Thanks Carl, have a good weekend my friend!
Love it and get them T-shirts produced , especially the last one, very classy!
My favorite is the last one too!!
Why not make some and give the profits to the NHS or some appropriate charity. I’d buy one or two.
If your new exhaust flows better, you will need to adjust the carburetors to compensate. Be prepared to re-jet and re-tune the system.
I'm loving your enthusiasm for the 308 and I'm glad it hasn't broken you. Yet!!!!!
I am so glad that things are looking so much better. Thank you for your boundless enthusiasm and optimism. Top bloke.
I have so much respect for your ingenuity and determination. Can't wait for the next instalment.
Great to see your oil-in-coolant issue was not! Also, the exhaust silencer you've purchased looks a lot like the version I had on my 308 and it did sound fantastic! And yes a lift does make removal and install a much easier task. Good luck and keep having fun!
Really enjoying these and your never failing optimism is just great in these bleak times. You’ve set the bar high!! Keep it up and really looking forward to the next one....
Great news, well done! A few of us called it as coolant mixing, good to have it verified. I can imagine the relief you felt hearing that!
This car has taken on a life of its own, and your enthusiasm for rooting out all it's imperfections is contagious and compellingly entertaining!! I have an old Jeep Wrangler TJ, and like the InfluEnzo, my Jeep seems to double-down just when I've fixed something and I'm feeling brilliant! One day it will be perfect! Anyways, I've always loved the 308 as my favorite car, and never missed an episode of Magnum PI! In fact, I was in Honolulu in '83, and looked for but never found Robin Masters' 308. Love watching these updates!!
Thank you and enjoy your Jeep, love a Wrangler!! Nice tough and simple cars!
an encouraging outcome, hope this really is it, we are all cheering you on!
I'm 57 (based in East Sussex) - I *love* your videos. I love seeing you so happy with your toy. It makes me happy. Enjoy it and keep smiling. It's a pleasure to see you deriving so much pleasure - I'm not really into cars, but I have an 18 year old Honda which I've owned for 10 years and until recently I've had to make some repairs to myself. There is a definitely a certain satisfaction to be derived from doing repairs yourself and I too have gotten the bug of enjoying my car a lot more as a result of my fixes to mine. Can't wait to hear how the new exhaust sounds!
Thanks Jez, great to hear that even a non car guy enjoys it!
Yeah! More mayhem!! I’m really sorry for your misadventures with this car, but it is REALLY entertaining 😜👍
It's a part of the experience! I've had a couple of Italian classics, lots of spannering, less driving, but great experiences.....it was even better getting rid of those cars... (-;
I must say the creative quality of some of your viewers is amazing, very impressive and well thought out. Wish you well, I am late in coming to your channel, but thoroughly enjoying it, especially all the juicy details. So glad it looks like another "win" belated as it may be.
Your enthusiasm is infectious, avid viewing.👍
Well I guess having a car with issues makes for better videos, love the positivity and patience, well done
I had to replace most of the exhaust on my 81 GTV pretty much from the collector to rear. No more back box, just a centre-mounted hotdog. Yes she's loud, but oh what a joy. And you get the full range of off-throttle burbles, pops and crackles.
As I said before, you're a brave man with a good sense of humor! Good luck with the new exhaust. I'm sure that it will look and sound great!
So happy for you that the 'coolant' issue seems to have turned out ok. I'm not exactly sure why, but watching your ups and downs with this thing, I somehow almost feel like it's my own car. Your crack-up on hearing it without an exhaust was quite priceless...
Ha!! Thank Roger.. enjoy the weekend!
I hope the open exhaust ports didn't melt any important wires or hoses when you ran it open like that!
BUT, I am thoroughly enjoying your roller-coaster emotional ride with Influenzo. You are very entertaining! Thank you for sharing your epic adventure.
I will politely suggest that before you do any more repairs, you will enjoy your car much better "as is" by simply washing it and detailing it. It always amazes me how quieter and smoother all of my cars drive when they are immaculately clean!
Ha that’s true and it does need a good wash!
This video has it all! Microphones, melodrama and PJs! Really pleased on the coolant front - result 👍🏻
Thanks Ben!!
Fantastic news, I'm really pleased for you. Hope the exhaust works out well. I have to say I think this channel is right up there with Harry's Garage and Tyrell's Classic Workshop, well done and thanks for the brilliant entertainment.
Thank you and great name!!
@@Number27 haha, hopefully I will bring you an extra bit of luck along the way!
Honestly I don’t know how you have the patience, I’d be frightened to death of a massive repair bill every time I started the car . Your honesty and enthusiasm shine right through though . Keep up the good work , love the videos .
Cheers Kevin!! So share them if you can!!
Do not so!!
I'm so happy it wasn't the head gasket. Older cars so love to give us joy and pain! Awesome ride sir!
Glad things are progressing. Watching your videos has convinced me to buy a late model Mitsubishi Mirage as my next vehicle, as engineering was not an option in the design.
I bought a 308 GTB Vetroresina, from my couch, unseen, from collectingcars during lockdown. 😂Runs like a dream so far - bodywork needs love but i am so far lucky. Love this series - very timely.
Phew! I've been thinking about this during the last week. Thank goodness it appears to be something less than you first thought. I watched the last vid again and began to doubt the head gasket theory, it didn't look milky enough. You are certainly being tested by this car, stick with it. It will be such a reward in the end. Looking forward to hearing the new exhaust.
Brilliant I look forward to you’re weekly update! A great job again chief, keep up the good work you’re enthusiastic videos are what we need right now! Legend
Thank you Kevin 🙏
Great news that it doesn't look like a head gasket failure. Love your reaction to the exhaust free tune!
😄🙏🙏🙏
good to see the channel gathering the momentum it really deserves.....
Great news and so inspired by your videos. Of course you should do the tee-shirts, if not for the money then for your fans. You've built up a great following and we all look forward to every update on the Influenzo.
Thanks for posting an update...FINALLY..I was beginning to go through withdraws.
There are more plot twists on this channel than in the soaps, you seem to have a good video formula it feels very episodic.
An acquaintance of mine, a hot girl had one in the day. I drove her quite a bit. Yours is running good now. That new exhaust is just what the doctor ordered.
Oh the joys of classic car ownership,I was once the proud owner of a 1983 911 SC and just loved the tinkering 👍
Good to see another happy ending! ... ish. I really think you should do the T-shirts, not to just to raise money but because the public want them!
Thank you for starting it without an exhaust. This is always a must during exhaust mods.
My favorite “show” on TH-cam. Can’t wait to hear the new exhaust sound!
Thanks again for sharing this. I was really looking forward to watch this vid, and now I am again for the next one. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Thank you Patrice!
aha! I think that is what I suggested in my comment on your previous video, ie the boiling water during overheating has agitated crud in the radiator and also possibly a chemical reaction, different property coolant is defo something to look into, hope it rights itself after a good flush and fresh coolant, looking hopeful though which is good news.
Thanks Chris! Enjoy the weekend!
Your channel along with Matt Armstrong's are my favourite...love the realness...makesme want to restore a Pug 205 Gti...always regret the time I bought a Golf Gti instead of the Pug!
Great news been waiting for that all week
I had a sneaking suspicion your head gasket was fine! Great job getting it checked out, you must be feeling a lot better again. Of course loving the content Jack, thanks mate looking forward to seeing that new exhaust installed.
Thank you Tristan!!!
Really like Paulo´s design with the bug on, would look great as a badge on the side of the 308 instead of the prancing horse and make a fab T shirt too
I've only recently discovered your channel and I'm loving it!
Wonderful to hear, thanks!
Love your enthusiasm. Best car channel on TH-cam.
Thank you!
Great video and so happy she’s all ok... can’t wait to see and hear the new exhaust!
Great news. Glad for you and the influenzo. Really curious about the new exhaust. And glad you found the design funny as it was meant to be.
Really enjoy your channel. Love the ferrari journey and your enthusiasm. Good luck and hope to see your car zooming around the Cotswolds
Fab Nigel, thanks for the kind words!
You had me going at the end there too. Great news about the coolant. Probably just needs an "Italian tuneup"!
Wonderful!! I knew that the headgaskets weren't blown, that goop just did not look like oil migration into the water to me. So brilliant news. Indeed, gotta get rid of those stock exhausts which strangle all Ferrari engines!! I have a Kreissieg on my 348, and when I give it some, it puts a huge smile on my face.....
Looking forward to the next episode with your new exhaust and a clean cooling system......
The influenzo lives again!!
Cheers Kevin 🍻!!
Sounded like a Spitfire at the end lol Glad things aren’t as bad as you first thought, can’t wait to hear the new exhaust.
I’m glad it wasn’t anything serious with the coolant! Can’t wait to hear the new exhaust!
Brilliant vid. Don't ever change 😂😎
I can't wait for the new exhaust!
fantastic car TH-cam guy with zero ego. great vid
I think every car where I've had to replace the pipe even the manifold I've fired it up without. My V4 bike sounds ace without until my ears suffer! (20 seconds later!) Fingers crossed still re: coolant.
Is that a Honda V4 by any chance?
tony sansom yes, NC30.
Another great video! I’m so happy for you that things are working out. Thanks for the clip of the engine running without a muffler, reminded me of my previous’67 Eleanor Mustang, the side mufflers did little to nothing. Cheers!
LOL, love the laughing at the end. Looking forward to the new exhaust!
We really still are children aren’t we? I still remember drilling holes in my 50cc Vespas muffler when I 14 and I still giggle a little every time I hear a ludicrously loud car😂.
My 2nd gen MX-5 developed a hole in the exhaust and a first it was hardly noticeable so I sort of grew into it sounding a tiny bit more well "more". Only then I had a drive that wen through a tunnel and oh my. Still it could be fun to a have a switch of sorts.
Don't forget 'Happy Families' playing cards and clothes pegs on our push bikes 😀
@@WoolyBuggerPicker
Omg I used to put clothes pegs on my Choppers spokes 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
FEE_lo: and a great friend of mine drilled holes in a coke can which we used as a “silencer” on his Raleigh Runabout way back in 1975. Oddly enough my current series of “toys” all have standard exhaust systems.
Have I finally grown up???
Phil B I’m afraid it’s a sign of the times. Unless it’s a classic of some sort we need to pass smog yearly. I’m planning a resto-mod as a loophole. However if it isn’t a legal restriction that makes you keep those fun killers on your toys.... shame... shame on you 😂😂😂.
A few years ago I did a complete coolant flush and got worried when it was raining coolant under the car. I thought it was leaking from the engine itself but it turned out to just be a heater hose in the engine bay that cost $10 to replace. It had already been leaking but I didn't notice it because the heater was never turned on. Yay for easy fixes.
Possibly the best videos on TH-cam, cheers for the entertainment 👏👍
Brilliant fun, can’t wait for the next one!, get it ready and drive to Le Mans in September for race day 👍✌️🥳
Also check out Ratarossa as just got a video out on exhaust
Sensational stuff! Indeed a labour of love. You have convinced me this is all possible, even for me.
Good news and relief then! It's going to be an onward preventative maintenance from here! Coolant must be Ferrari spec. when you get to that. Speedo fault likely to be the sender unit. Looking forward to the next episode!
Yes Jack, get the T-shirts printed 😉👍 Loving the story. Hope you love the new exhaust as much as you did the old one .. @9.40 😉😁
Congratulations on coolant fix it's great that the mot helped out if you didn't have that help shop air on the cylinder will resolve if there is a blown head gasket it will eventually push the coolant out of the radiator with cap off peace
Interflora are currently dropping off Flowers for all the Ladies in the street .. Great sound , love it
Well done for following through and troubleshooting it. Glad to hear its nothing serious.
One thing I thought, while trying to track down the high rpm whistle for example, be careful not to blow it up. I was tying to trouble shoot a high rpm rich condition on an Alfa once and ended up doing a rod bearing! Tired old engines are often one good pull away from something like that, sometimes better off leaving high rpm issues alone I reckon.
I’m well below the 7500 rev ceiling so hope to be ok!
Yip glad it hasn’t been a gasket disaster. And no rust problems like the ratarossa 308. Look forward to the new exhaust. Also wouldn’t mind a tshirt! Can sub out that job to someone as I think lots of us would wear one. I’m in NZ!
Thanks Mark!!
My weekend wouldn’t be the same without an update! I’m in not far from Kidlington myself so would be great to see the Influenzo in the flesh at some point! Hope the exhaust gives it that Modena purr!
Thanks Benjamin!’ Maybe bump into you at some point!
I'm keeping track of the time you're spending under it rather than driving it: 10 to 1 so far. :)
Luv the vids...can’t wait to see the end result.good luck
Fantastic result! Cannot wait to year the new exhaust.
one of the coolest vids I have seen, well done 27
Your facial expression @12:43 is priceless! 😆👍
And as usual, I've enjoyed this new episode in the Influenzo series very much! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Alain!!
Awesome sounding with open pipes. Glad the coolant is sorted. Keep it up.
Really glad you sorted that problem I always say as we go we learn more about our classic cars and that’s the fun . Just going out for the drive and having that classic car grin is worth more then any money in the world 👍 jesus your exhaust was loud made my dog jump 😂😂😂
It was louder in the flesh than came across in the video!
XD It sounds like a P-51 Mustang taxiing out for take-off without the exhaust! I LOVE IT! XD
That's great news! Now for the exhaust....
Omg!!! That sounded down right evil!!!!! Excellent!!!😁
So pleased for you...... yet again, really good news and a smart move taking it to the professionals. A good fun vid..thanks. 👍🏽🇬🇧
Really enjoying your videos keep up the good work 👍
Loving your positivity. Keep it up as helping me though lockdown blues!
Number 27 - get the last classy t shirts released. That was beautiful!
The straight pipe exhaust was hilarious - monster truck!! 🙈
Awesome, can't wait to hear the new pipe 👍👍👍👍🏁
For all the possible terminal disasters the car and your 🍀 lucky Pjs have not let you down I hope we get the weather now for you to get out and drive it take care and keep doing your great videos luv the R8 one you did 👍
Lucky PJs rule!!!
Yes! To the exhaust sound! As we do here in America on good ol’ American cars, straight pipe that bad boy! Well, I didn’t straight pipe my Dodge Challenger but a full exhaust will hopefully sound nice. Great time to look at your headers and see if there are improvements to be made. BTW, this is my favorite car channel. It’s just real and I can relate to your woes since I work on my cars.
Thats Awesome, thanks Jacob!!
That sounded like a Spitfire Merlin engine starting up. Great news, I was confident it wasn't a head gasket, nevertheless, having one of these engines in my Mondy, I should have known the oil cooler doesn't have coolant flowing through it ! It was a good lesson to never assume... Well done, great job. Marc
Cheers Max!!
Marc!
Great work Jack can't wait for the next update (assuming your neighbours haven't got to you!!).
That’s very good news to hear!
Lovely Jubbly, gotta love this ferrari, it would push anyone's patience to to the limit.
Cheers Paul.. Apple and Pears 🍐
I was thinking radweld too as soon as I saw it. Things are going well! Great stuff! Wear the top half of those pj's in your next film. Keep up the good work. 👍
Somehow I get the feel of Hoovie’s garage😬 Great news on the coolant Jack!👌🏻
Sounds like a Spitfire Merlin engine on start up. Magic!
good show! you keep getting lucky with every hurdle.
Ha! Everybody keeping their fingers crossed equals great succes! Good to hear it seems to be working out okay. Enjoyed the video again, especially the excessive giggling at the end and the look on your face. Reminded me of Sean Connery in the Hunt for Red October. Keep it coming please!
Thank you Arthur!! The support really helps!
