Alongside that 5-speed automatic transmission, the only thing that can go wrong with it is the 13 pin connector adapter (normally the o-ring breaks overtime and coats the connector, my only advice in changing it is do not use a drill using a hand tool, and then you have to remove the belly pan to extract the conductor plate), and if it gets really bad you have to install a new conductor plate, and reflash the transmission.
I agree. However, not with the 6 cylinder 63. Take that 63 badge off. I think even AMG would have had peace of mind if they did that, since that would allow them to see how the market responds without tainting the 63 badge.
Because they have had hybrids and efficient cars for a long long time . Same with ford/ chevy/dodge . Can’t have 18mpg cars forever without efficient cars or Evs in your lineup . This should have been a boosted 6 from the c43 with e boost

Nope, not buying it - thing is a junk pile that's been failing to launch in the US for over a year. They can't give these away in Europe and the same will happen here. This is a total disaster for MB.

AMG has not always built the fastest or most technical cars in its class, but they have been the most brutal and most adrenaline-inducing by far. I remember seeing 6.2L W204 C63's with stickers that said "Only milk and juice come in 2 Liters". Does AMG expect these same buyers to buy the new C63? It's sacrilege.
Those merc motors are so strong. Bolt on 1 or.2.turbos or a blower easy 800hp. And for drag racing, autos are king. Built autos have been superior for decades. H pattern manuals are for the novelty. Drifting and circuit racing, yes manuals w/ clutch. (Sequential is king). Once you start makings big hp numbers in a street car you want an auto. Note: ive got a manualized- automatic (6l80) with a ratchet shifter. Drives like a sequential manual. Racing its instant shifts, never stops putting power down. Barely feel the shifts

This definitely should've been the CLA powertrain. A 4 cylinder, electric motor assisted powertrain with a 1,000 pound increase makes no sense for a C63. They could've at least made a twin turbo V6 and no electric motors for the same amount of power and a lot less weight.
Great review as always… I am fortunate to own the GLE AMG 63s. The engine is amazing in every aspect as is the comfort, handling, infotainment and esthetic (for an SUV). I can’t imagine Mercedes will keep this 4 cylinder in the more expensive classes

As an owner 2 W204 C63's, I can say it's not about the speed all the time. There will always be faster cars. An AMG is supposed to be a blunt object, not smooth lines and elegant. Mercedes has enough electric cars to offset its fuel economy average.
How about just AMG C45 SE?… It shares the same drivetrain with the AMG CLA45 and the AMG C43. AMG C45 SE seems like the only correct answer. Plus AMG uses “SE” (E-Performance) for the V8-hybrid 63 models Even C53 would be appropriate

I think the DB12 is solid. Just not for $350,000. The C63 could at least get the build quality part right. I wouldn't personally put my money towards either car. But this at least an objectively insane performance car for under $100,000. DB12 is not.
DO LESS so you can do things better. MB needs to scale back on the headline nonsense so it can focus on the core functions of its AMG cars. These cars don't need rear-wheel steering, save on cost and weight, and focus the engineering dollars on better steering feel. These cars don't need a plug-in hybrid system, save the cost and weight, and focus on a conventional hybrid. These cars don't need a 9-speed transmission, save the cost and weight, and focus on a 7-Speed. If AMG did the three things I just mentioned the C63 could cost $10,000 less, weigh 500 lbs less, and feel more engaging to drive.
BMW guy but this car is overhated honestly. Maybe it doesnt have the V8, but in 10 years I see it becoming appreciated more. Same thing happens with BMWs. Also the M3c with xDrive stat wise does keep up with this.
