@@adilou9633 Most of the hate I've seen for new Mercedes cars is for two specific reasons: 1. The move to hybrid powertrains with smaller ice engines combined with a battery pack and electric motors. In particular this is mainly a complaint with the new C 63, because the car no longer sounds as good and it also increases the weight, and potentially complexity of future repairs. But as you can see, even this GT is heavier than the old generation despite not turning into a hybrid yet. The increased weight means the car is less exciting to drive on a track or "fun" roads. And same with the sound, the issue is that it's less exciting to drive because the new sound from the smaller engine isn't as exciting. 2. The loss of physical buttons on the interior with everything switching to ipad in the center of the car. Many people prefer the feeling of pressing a physical button, and there's also the whole "don't fix what isn't broken" philosophy. You don't have to agree with their reasons, because these are subjective preferences of course, but it's not "for no reason"

Some dealers are willing to sell their AMG GT 55 for $15,000 under MSRP. With a well spec'd 55 being around 150-160k you should be able to buy one for 135-145k. Paying 200k for the 63 is a hard NO.

I'll take a Porsche 911 Turbo or a Aston Vantage instead, they both feel more special. On a side note i am thinking of getting a used Jaguar F Type with the V8 engine - pretty excited, it seems to be really good value on the used market 😮. I am also thinking of getting a X350 Jaguar XJR - you don't see cars like that anymore
Apparently there were a few people that complained about the previous GT's hardcore nature and lack of practicality . So AMG brought this one to please those customers . I also think this is far from being a 911 competitor due to the fact that it's too heavy . I would personally choose the older version , but i also understand why this exists .
Whenever auto maker try to share chassis with different models I feel like buyers are getting ripped off cause that makes it cheaper for them to produce.
Usually, that wouldn't be much of a problem It's okay to try to minimize production costs, because when the company makes more profit on a product they're encouraged to stick with that product line, but where it becomes a problem is when they're replacing an exceptional proven platform with another platform that compromises the essence of the car, It's just not right.
Tbh I don’t see AMG ending they’re just rebranding a bit. They never really had a Supercar imo. Always saw the amg gt as a sports car since it’s a grand touring but they have a hypercar, so we know they’re capable of a Supercar.
Not one person I know who has the first gen AMG wants to switch to this. It’s too Heavy. Weighs as much as a Panamera. Nobody wants that massive screen. We want buttons. We all wanted a more raw car. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a great car, but not many people will buy it. It’s an SL in coupe form. Thats all it is. Too expensive. Many better options in that price range. Even if it was already at depreciation prices, I wouldn’t trade my GTS for it.
Many people don't realize that while all these new cars like BMW and Mercedes are heavier, and they don't feel heavy when driving. Is true because these cars use stronger chassis and advanced technology to mask their weight, making them seem even better than lighter, older models. However, the weight still affects the tires and brakes. Some might argue that newer brake and tire technology solves this issue, but imagine if we put the same advanced brakes and tires on lighter cars-they would perform even better. Additionally, the extra weight on the brakes and tires causes them to wear out and overheat much faster compared to lighter cars. These modern cars can mask their weight to drivers who don't push them to their limits, creating an illusion of superior performance compared to lighter cars. But this is actually a false impression.
Mercedes-Benz currently doesn't sell a single sports car, let that sink in. I love the new AMG GT 55 and am considering buying one. That said, if the AMG GT 55 was RWD without rear-axle steering they would have made a more engaging driver's car.
Design is nice af but as someone else said, would take a vantage over this. Just pulled the trigger on a f pace svr recently and tbh id take even that over this. The lack of buttons on the inside is the WORST. Even having a static screen for climate on the gv70 was horrible, so much more difficult to press a button on a screen while driivng vs a hard tactile button.
I don't like how the numbers on the name don't coincide with the engine size. Infiniti has been doing the same thing. If it's called a g63, it should have a 6.3L engine. Of course that kind of size isn't needed anymore so just give it the same name as the last gen
Not a hater and not even trying to cringe you, but your statement about the old gen not being that good(looks) in your opinion, made the whole argument about this new design worthless
I think it looks good, a happy median between a 911 and the other German cars, understated, but not boring. Good, honest review. Also, most places have a Merc dealership, Porsche, AM, etc, can be hundreds of miles away. It is what it is. The GT-55 is a better deal though, unless you want bragging rights, or really want the extra .7 +/-
AMG have gone backwards, the outgoing GT series was one of the first cars to actually take it to Porsche and the 911 and even win in some cases, with the new GT they've gone backwards. All I can hope is they're going to expand the GT Line up, with the GT63 Coupe + 2 being more like the Turbo S and they release a RWD, lighter shorter GT like the old. I feel the GT63 is massively underpowered (Yes 585hp is a lot) but the old GTC had 550 and is actually quicker than the new GT. It should've been the GT55 having 585hp and the GT63 having 635hp, maybe a later date a GT63s with 650hp - Very very underwhelming generation.

It’s obnoxious imo. I have driven one at an AMG event. It’s absolutely huge. I have a 911S 992.1. It’s absolutely a much better car. Probably best to compare it to the turbo. If we are going to be even more accurate in comparison we should really compare this to the Porsche GT3/RS. That truly is a proper comparison. Porsche is the benchmark sports/super car.
There are already test mules of an RWD GT63, which people assume will be the GTS or GTR or whatever. The advantages of a shared platform is they can mess around with details to alter. I don't think its necessarily bad for the base model to have more breadth in capability so as to appeal to more people, which is I think what the intent was for this one - making it more viable for more people. How many variants of the 911 are there? Don't see why AMG can't take the same approach with this one.

To me SL is one of the most beautiful cars ever and apparently lighter eventho convertible! So why would you get a GT. True GT should be a light car like 1600 kg imo. I personally liked how in 2016 Mercedes came close to Porsche dynamic wise with the old GT and GT had a better design interior and exterior. At this time SL is better option than GT.
I think the presenter wasn’t being honest in some respects with his comparisons. He compared a this to the Eray, which is a hybrid . Of course it’s going to be faster than this version. Also, the corvette from a build and tech perspective should not be compared to a AMG.

Former model looks like a clown shoe. Updated version definitely looks much better. Wish they'd get rid of all the tech and go with a more driver-oriented car. Who wants to be navigating a touchscreen when you're carving up a canyon road?
Personal taste but the previous gen is an absolute beast. Did you drive the GTR? This is the thing about modern day wanna be car journalists, you lot don’t even own these cars but go get them for a day and make videos. Your main purpose is to make money off TH-cam. Majority of you never owned a true sports car. How can you review a car like this and go seat at the back and say “you cannot got a human back there” as if the car was made to haul humans. You lot compare Porsche and amg cars and fail to understand that both companies have different philosophies. If all cars where the same like how electric cars are then what would be the fun and enthusiasm in driving them. You really think Porsche can’t straight pipe their cars for better sound? You lot have to really think before you come in here. These contents are just made for kids to watch and salivate over cars. Not everyone needs pops and bangs. My GTS cayman is stock and standing next to it, sounds amazing and I feel same about my 63s. To each its own but remember manufacturers are out for a profit and some have cut corners and some have tried to stay true to their philosophy until times change.
A lot of scattered points here. But understand that I would make these videos for free (and a lot of the time I do). It's simply something I enjoy doing. And I drive every car I Review for as long as humanly possible before putting together my thoughts. I've put nearly 600 miles on the GT in the week I've had it. And I feel like that's enough time to put together a comprehensive review. I made a lot of 911 Turbo comparisons here because that's simply AMGs target rival with this GT. And if you go on websites like Car and Driver, they say the exact same thing. My main purpose in creating content is to put together a story that makes sense. And do so in a way that I enjoy and that hopefully others enjoy too. And if every car journalist had to own every car they reviewed in order for it to have validity; then this medium simply wouldn't exist.
Mate I understand every journalist can’t own every car. The bottom line is every car is curated for a purpose and it brings variety. Your and others who do these videos make it as if a negative aspect on the manufacturer if the exhaust doesn’t sound the way you want. Also, driving it for 600 miles is never the same as having the car for a year at least. Living with the car. That being said, I like your eloquence and by the way, this is coming from a chap who actually owns the cars you review (not all but yes). We drive these cars for the visceral experience and I’ll criticize Merc for looking like Tesla interiors these days but hey, they want the glamor and glitz. If you are in Maryland sometime, hola and we will burn some rubber in a GTR, amg.
@@cheechchong3021 calm down you are an adult I hope. A critique isn’t about negativity. You can take it or leave it. I own these cars as an enthusiast. I don’t know about you. For the record I don’t peruse TH-cam looking to criticize channels. It’s a public domain, remember that.

There is no reason you should have to compromise on performance within this price bracket. This is a garbage attempt in this price bracket.
@@CarswithMiles I feel like its not always about strictly performance, I mean look at this thing, the interior looks better than anything else imo, hand built engine, you compare it to a 911, what am I gonna do take it to a track everyday? Also not to forget with all the strict EU regulations and EVs becoming the new thing (unfortunately). Amgs are known for their lound V8s, this is their identity. Former model looks like a clown shoe. Updated version definitely looks much better. Wish they'd get rid of all the tech and go with a more driver-oriented car. Who wants to be navigating a touchscreen when you're carving up a canyon road?
Kinda looks like a Z4
The previous GT looked better imho, this looks too Porsche that went to Burger King too many times.
@@bn8530 how about not getting on someone's channel and criticizing them so harshly for no reason - wow so negative - sickening to read your post
@@bn8530 you are right. You are entitled to your opinion - just the way you said it triggered me. Carry on
You didn't like the previous generation?? SMH
Everything u hate about the look is what’s absolutely awesome about it the freaking car smh.
Too long! Pause! Thats crazy! 😂
The weight, the copy & pasted interior & no dedicated RWD option is disappointing
It’s beautiful to look at though
Totally agree
this ran an 11.2 quarter on road conditions I saw the e ray do a 10.4. This merc sucks.
lol, so 1 second slower makes a car suck? Say to yourself “one thousand one”. Did you do it? That’s the same time the e ray beat the 63. Also, the e ray is a hybrid with 2.6 . Of course it’s faster
@@brentparker9527 absolutely when spending this much on a car, that is 4wd and does have enough hp, you should be able to expect better. There is no reason that you wouldnt unless you are in love with its looks, then you might as well shop around. These cars are big investments and you should be able to expect better performance from a coupe merc. It is not a sedan. They simply made it too heavy. There is no reason you should have to compromise on performance within this price bracket. This is a garbage attempt in this price bracket.
No pun intended but why not call this channel

Unless that name is taken already ????
send me a cheque if you do change it.

Man just say you dont like Mercedes lol
I love Mercs!
@CarswithMiles I know. I just wanted your pleasant response. Keep doing your great reviews and having your positive feedback.
U can tell by the way he dresses & hair cut that he doesn’t have great taste. Hes just nitpicking for views.
this guy is wack, how dare you title something like this as "ruined"
Because I drove it
@@CarswithMiles I feel like its not always about strictly performance, I mean look at this thing, the interior looks better than anything else imo, hand built engine, you compare it to a 911, what am I gonna do take it to a track everyday? Its probably better suited as a daily compared to the 911. The 911 for sure doesn't sound like this. the sounds, the emotional experience seems better. This looks better than a 911 in my humble opinion. Performance wise yes! 911 is probably faster, but I dont give a damn. this is a work of art.
Also not to forget with all the strict EU regulations and EVs becoming the new thing (unfortunately). I’m sure Mercedes is getting slapped in the hand harder than other brands so maybe the edge may not be there like previous models. We got to take that into consideration as well! Amgs are known for their lound V8s, this is their identity. But because of these strict regulations, they’ve been forced to make changes and want to get ahead of the curve with batteries and other forms of high power technology. I hope you as a “car enthusiast” can understand that…
It’s so refreshing to see a young black man doing something productive. Well done son
Maybe you should keep your thoughts in your head…..
Its slow tbh. It dont really compares to 911 turbo with 580 hp 992. This Mercedes is too slow to be comparable. M4 CS is better car
Another hater
You should be reviewing Hondas and Kias.Maybe Subaru.Giving you this car to review was a huge mistake by Mercedes. You are not qualified to comment on 200k$ cars.”Credit to Mercedes”….and then describe what a piece of shit it is.Moronic.
Are you upset by criticism?
It ugly
I dig the design
