I just totaled my 2016 f150 with the 2.7 ecoboost. I had 180k miles and I had zero issues. Super reliable in my experience

I have almost 150,000 miles on my 2018 F150 2.7 ecoboost supercrew. XLT 4x4 with the FX4 package. Just took it from Minnesota to Colorado to California, and back to Minnesota, back in late July. We put on 6500 total miles and averaged 21.8 mpg which is really good, especially going up mountains. Going from Wyoming to Utah I was getting 23.8mpg on the flats. 3.73 rear end, 36 gallon gas tank which is nice because we could skip gas stations in California that were $9 a gallon on highway 1 along the coast and go further. South Dakota was 80mph and a lot of up and down, trucks lowest mpg read out was 20. Never had any issues with my truck. I run amsoil xl in the summer and pennzoil ultra platinum in the winter just cause it’s a tiny bit thinner and flows quicker. Change oil and filter every 6,000 miles with a fram or wix cartridge filter. I’d buy another 2.7 f150 in a heartbeat.

@@Sean_Hannon I’ve had 150,000 miles trouble free on the motor and tranny. I did spark plugs at 130,000 miles. Just change the oil and filter every 6,000 miles, even if the oil can last another 6,000 miles. Change it, these engines need CLEAN oil.

Those mpg's are great evan for European standards. 23mpg translates here in Europe around 10l per 100km. Our diesel pickup-s here, avrege around 8l per 100km. And gas is cheaper than diesel, in the EU. So the difference is very small compared to those giant old V8's. I hope to see more F150's on European streets, evan though they are kinda big vehicles, people here still love them. I keep seeing them more often. Thanks for sharing this info.

    I just bought a used 2016 XLT.
I don't mind the auto stop start but pretty much just hit that button and turn it off. No modifications.
The garage door thing is weird. But I had an opener so no big deal.
I had a Chevy half tom with auto 4 wheel drive and THAT was great.
But otherwise, I like it. Dual sunroof, heated seats, tilt, telescope steering wheel.
But the absolute #1 thing I like is the body is aluminum not steel so no rusted out rockers, fenders / wheel wells.
I have a backup camera but no trailer assist. Wish I did. My camera has guidelines but where your knob is Mine is blank.
What I like about the backup camera is that the camera is at the top of the tailgate by the handle. And if I drop the tailgate it points right to my hitch receiver and I can see how far I have left to go to connect.
I also like that it has some get up to it.

I have a 2020 2.7. The truck has performed flawlessly over the past 4 years. We vacation in the New England states. 25 plus mpg, rides like a limo, my wife prefers the truck over her Nissan. The quad cab is great for travel, you can load and unload easily. And when you want to pass or go up a steep grade, the torque is there. I will buy another without hesitation.

My dealer tried to buy it back from me and offered me a lot more than I paid. Ummmm no thanks! I like my truck, the Ford replaced my GMC Sierra that had the 5.3l. The Ford has far more power and the driving that I do averages out 21.5 mpg and 25 mpg. Even though Ford made changes to the Engine for the 2018 Model year I still added an oil catch can. I only use full synthetic oil and I change it every 5,000 miles. I do not agree with Ford saying to use a semi synthetic oil and longer oil change intervals. To me that is just so that they can claim a lower operating cost. This Engine was specifically built to be a turbo engine.

Ford is offering the 2.7 EB in the new Ranger. The Ranger Raptor will get a 3.0, but I think the 2.7 will be a beast and the sweet spot over the 2.3 in the Ranger. It should have no problem pulling a bass boat and get decent mpg while doing it.

A lot to do with oil issues. I had a few friends that all had those years and they had so many issues with leaks or oil consumption 2 of them had the motor blow around 55-60k miles

    • @ciphercode2298
      @ciphercode2298 ปีที่แล้ว

The only issue I'm aware of was that the motor does not require an oil pan gasket and some experience leaks. Fords fix is new oil pan with a gasket. I'm pretty sure there was a TSB on it. I've never heard of oil consumption issues with them. As far as I understand the only thing new on the 2018 and up is they added dual injectors to help curb carbon buildup on the back sides of the intake valves. If you do have the earlier models you can add a catch can and do more frequent oil changes to help curb the carbon buildup

I got a 2018 xlt, i thought the engine was 3.1 but maybe im wrong its the bigger ecoboost option, at least thats what they said at ford. Bought it 3 months ago and i couldnt be happier. Love it. Before i had a fusion fully loaded and while it was a nice car, those tires were garbage and id pop one every month. Talk about money pit. Xlt has no features but im ok with it. No navigation but whatever. Love that i have a column shifter and the grille is so gorgeous. Looks like yours but yours seems like its a different year.
Also i feel your pain on the garage door opener. When you put your own opener on it, its impossible to reach as its all the way up top. My main complaint is i dont have the opening rear window but to be honest it looks nicer without it. Just im used to having a moonroof, have had one for my last 3 vehicles and love it. Opening rear windshield would have been a good substitution.

The start/stop is the most idiotic thing you can do to a turbo charged engine. You come off the highway pistol hot and shut off the oil circulating to the turbo bearings? Are they crazy or just plain stupid? We have a 22 Edge ST and we didn’t realize that we are stuck with a 2.7 Gen 1. No information about it. Did they correct anything on the 2022 Gen 1s? If not what do we need to watch out for? We maintain our vehicles religiously. But it sounds like we need to unhook the PCV and run catch cans. Is there a trick to making the air box breathe better, and maybe a better air filter. Every turbo I have hates 1. Intake resistance in air flow 2. Restrictions out of the exhaust of the turbo. Looking at the pipes out, I think they are Ok for 82 cubes on each bank at 18 bar, 1500 cfm per side, not my favorite with stock piping but ok. No port injection. I bought it for my wife. I m almost blind. Is there a cure for this, like a manifold swap. Internally did they fix the Gen 1 stuff? I can’t understand why they didn’t put Gen2s in the ST Edge. Ideas knowledge? There is little to nothing about it out there.
