It’s the police academy not military boot camp 😂 I’ve done boot camp before it’s true there but I’ve never tried police academy 🤔 hmmmmmmm maybe it’s worth a shot once I’m 21
Because there’s politics involved in your trade. There’s classroom instructions and long drawn out days that are usually filled with nonsense. Police academy is like boot camp. In boot camp we crammed years of knowledge and skills into 9-14 weeks, same thing with PO Academy. A trade school is slow and steady to learn the trade. PO is fast pace and being able to function in a high stress environment and expected to make it or break it.
@@samueldocski4426exactly… mainly the make or break part. I’d also mention that during the academy their are multiple academic test that you ABSOLUTELY MUST pass in order to move on
If you want a quicker route and be sorta of a cop or an officer, you can go through EMT school and once you finished with the course you can apply at a police department that works with EMS or have an ambulance. After 2 years or so if they like what you do, you can be a SWAT medic if you want to but that takes extra steps, you are going to have to teach officers rapid trauma aid and what do from there. If they like what you do they can send you over to a school called SOARescue which is a school for all tactical medics even PJs. It’s a really good course. Once that is all said and done you are on a SWAT team as a SWAT medic and you are now considered to be TEMS and you make way more you can make anywhere from 90-100k per year and same benefits as a local police officer
For the longest time I have always wanted to be a police officer. Then I realized I don’t have enough streets smarts and I don’t think I have it in me to do everything cops have to do on a daily basis. I love cops though (not in a creepy way) 😅 and I love and admire the work you guys do. I watch so many cops shows. Thank you so much for keeping the world a better safe place. ❤❤❤❤

In California - *can be close to a year for the application process. A standard post academy is 6 months. Then another 3 to 6 months minimum with multiple FTOs
Our academies are like 6-9 months depending on the agency and then you go through FTO and that's 9 months out here. The initial process is about a yeah (time mostly varies depending on your background). We have the initial application, initial interview, physical, polygraph, background, psych eval, medical screening, Chief's Interview, and then you get your conditional offer of employment (contingent on your ability to complete the academy).
and people say police training needs to be more like the military. i was in boot camp for 10 weeks and individual training for 4 more months and by general standards my individual job training was long.
When my friend went through everything for our city, it was about 1 month of hiring processes, 2 months of academy, and 6-8 weeks of FTO depending on how well the rookie was doing
Love your videos! What state are you from? And if you lived in Florida and wanted to start the academy, which center would you pick? Thanks everyone! We need good cops in the county.
Not as long to become a hairdresser like my sister. Scary to think she could've been given a badge and gun faster than it took to get licensed in Texas to do hair.
I would like to see a side-by-side comparison of the first psych evaluation and a second psych evaluation the day he becomes solo. What looks different about his psych eval now that he's been trained?.
That’s actually not alot at all. Considering pretty much ANY police department pays pretty damn well, with just a year and a half of working you could be making more then any fast food or supermarket store would be paying you after 10 years
Currently in the military set to get out in December. I am trying to get into law enforcement when I get out but it sounds like its gonna be a longer process
In Denmark the education to become a police officer takes 3 years. You dont drive around patrolling solo, youre always minimum 2 officers. Maybe those two things would bring down all those police caused deaths? I know that if you drive around solo = more visibility, but think thats not always the best option
There's not enough police officers in most places to put 2 cops in a car. It would help a ton. Also, as a lot of cops say, those 3-4 year trainings don't help much and tend to waste a lot of time. School doesn't teach you much other than the rules.
In the Philippines, there exists an academic program known as the Philippine National Police Academy. Successful completion of this course culminates in the conferral of the title "Police Lieutenant," representing the introductory rank within the cadre of Police Commissioned Officers. Conversely, individuals who do not complete the program may still pursue a career as a police officer, undergoing a one-year training regimen and subsequently assuming the position of Patrol Man or Patrol Woman, commonly referred to as "PO1."
The calendar is not the tool to measure training. It's the number of hours of training that count. I think it's time for a class action lawsuit against the private companies that write the training manuals and teach the courses at the Academy. They are obviously avoiding teaching law and focusing on forcement.
I wanted to be a Police officer but it's really strict rules you got to do and i'm also not good at interviews.I have tried about 5 times and failed and finally gave up. lol
What are you failing at and what state are you applying in if you don't mind me asking? If you're failing at medical or psych evals, then you could see a doctor/therapist and work on that before applying. If it's anything chronic or permanent and it impedes your duties, I don't think you can get in anyways. If you're failing at background checks, make sure to check with previous employers and get people to vouch for you, and do the same with family, and make them aware that the local PD might call them and ask about your past. If you have a history of felonies, then, like any chronic illnesses, you can't really get in. If you're 21, you can see if your department has an explorer program set up and you can spend a year or so as a police explorer. If you've passed background checks and medical evals and are failing at physical parts, I suggest working out more, going for runs, buying a set of weights, etc. They'll probably have you run a obstacle course in full gear and then drag a life-sized dummy to the finish line, so you'll have to prep for that.
You seem like a well-balanced individual I would mind being pulled over by you but anybody other than you I would not trust them. You are half a brother you're Mexican, that means you're black & white, we trust you. We like mexicans from caucasian straight irish
