I got sprayed earlier today, and let me tell you, this stuff is GNARLY. It’s been about three hours, I’ve just taken a shower, and there are still a few spots on my arms that are burning. Hats off to whoever’s had to do this.
Yup, OC is horrible thing. Especially when you cannot get any form of relief you just can't chill out, I just kept moving around trying to find relief.

Got OC 2 months ago for BSG MSF (basic security guard training) (marine security forces) 1000000X worse then taser. I almost cried a little when they told me I’d have to be OC again to go into the police force

@@Bean_Pablo It's a 5-6 month police academy within your state, unless a Federal LEO. Criminal Justice classes and/or AAS or Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university is helpful if you dont have any other relevant experience.

@@haileymoon. Taser was the most painful 5 seconds of my life, but I'd rather get tased 5 times consecutively than do OC again. OC fucked me up good, had a hard time getting air, and very difficult forcing my eye open (even with the tactical C, got hit with enough of it that my eye was slippery as hell).

Police officers have to go through this training so they know how to handle being sprayed with their own OC or tased with their own taser, which can happen if they get into a struggle. However, they don't shoot each other with their pistols because, obviously, that would cause significant injury or death.

Shauncarter2 just got done with 6 weeks of training, starting with my home town department and hopefully work my way to become a detective. Hopefully my bachelor of criminal justice is worth it.
Mikahraptor of course, alright everybody thinks the academy is just pushups , leg lifts and a bunch of yelling. in reality, that’s somewhat true but the instructors are testing your overall physical and mental capability , a crucial part on becoming an officer.

I feel like it should be a requirement though because being certified to carry a taser and OC means you have more non-lethal options available to deploy in the field. Imagine if all they had was a baton and a gun and the other guy was WAY bigger than them. If he rushes you and all you've got is that gun you're authorized to use it. However, if you also have a taser you may be able to incapacitate the suspect without needing to shoot them. Plus it's good overall experience for the officers. As someone who wants to be a cop these are just my thoughts.

This one time in high school a fight broke out on a windy day and the short security guard couldn’t take them apart so he sprayed them and the wind blew it around the quad so there were literally 50 students (including myself) effected by it. I recently graduated for corrections officer, the o.c spray and the taser is no joke. The taser was the longest 5 seconds. The o.c spray. You're face burns for days.

I was a correction officer and had to be sprayed. I handed it better than the other trainees. The reason why it's different from regular pepper spray is that it's stronger and has crystals in the bottom of the can that are also sprayed out and they embed into the skin and tear ducts. We were told not to rub our eyes because it could scratch us and cause irreversible damage to our eyes. We were sprayed with a new can and the Sgt. gave me the same can to carry in housing units. A little personal reminder to talk someone out of an irrational behaviour before spray is used.

Mainly for safety reasons. You are shooting a stream of pressurized liquid. Having eyes open could cause damage to the eye
It's better then nothing. Some departments don't require you to get exposed before you can carry. I worked with a few security officers who refused to get tased but still carried. Getting exposed is mainly to testify in court about why you used it and knowing the effect, had no choice but to use it on someone. That's it.

At my academy, they forced us to keep our eyes open for the OC spray. Even when you pry your eyes open, you can only see dark red/black for about 15 minutes. The final stage they were doing that requires sight would be impossible unless they closed their eyes before the spray hit, or were given ample time. To this day, that was the worst pain I have ever experienced. Pure hell. Imagine your eyes being covered in the spiciest buffalo sauce you can imagine, and not being able to find relief for a full hour. Water doesn't help. The only thing that clears your eyes are air and time.

Yall insane. I've done OC Spray twice, gas chamber (CS Gas) and taser. The taser was the worse. Period. I would rather be sprayed in the anus, and eyes, then go into the gas chamber naked than ever get tased again. Spray doesn't hurt to me. It's more just a slight discomfort and you can open your eyes much.

I have been OC sprayed for a security job. It sucks royally. But all in all it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. It wore off within 10 minutes. I had some residual wash off the next day in the shower and Re experienced a bit of pain. But otherwise was a lot less worse than I expected.
