- Welcome back to another Pokemon Emerald Kaizo Monotype Elite Four Challenge!
Today, we take the league on with the highly requested Dragon types (Thanks for voting guys!). On first glance, Dragon types are known for having incredible pseudo-legendary stats. However, in Emerald Kaizo, life isn't that simple. We only have access to 5 fully evolved Dragons, Glacia's got an Auto-Rain Swift Swim team, and Drake's got his Soul Dew Latis and more. Some Dragons, such as Altaria, were severely nerfed with losing access to set up/support moves. How will we get past these obstacles and make it to the Hall of Fame? 🤔🤔

I mean if we’re getting technical Scyther is the first pre evo to be used in this challenge. But considering it’s BST is the same as Scizor it’s basically fully evolved lol

I think one of the biggest reasons they made dragonair such a viable pre-evo is because in most of the official games, you'll probably never get to evolve your pseudos or semi-pseudo (I'm talking about the larvesta line here) before the e4 unless you do insane grinding.
But that's just a theory... a game-
too bad dragonair is one of the only few viable pre-evos...

@@ogmechsftw it really is sad. Gabite has a better attack stat, but it just doesn't have the speed to make it worth while.
The only other viable pre-evos I can name of the top of my head are Porygon, Porygon-2 and Scyther, and that's only because they were meant to be fully evolved pokemon in the games they were introduced in (in fact, Scyther and Scizor share the EXACT SAME STAT TOTAL (500) the only difference is that Scyther has much higher speed, while scizor has higher attack and defense)
So it's just very interesting to see.

The teambuilding is always my favorite, I love learning about balancing even when it's all one type :) I mean this video was extremely straightforward with the limited options but still

Didn't realize how few dragon types are in this game. Can't even begin to imagine how hard it must've been to catch them all for this vid
Haha yeah it usually takes me a full day to catch them all cause I gotta get the good natures and IV’s and everything too!
Chizzy, a potential thing you can do in future runs is:
Since Double team only has 6 PP, you could try to cheese 1 of the spammers with Roar (and hope that it doesn't miss), so that the next time it comes in, it can't set up to +6 again. Afterwards, if you replaced a TM move (where the TM is reusable), you can re-learn it after Phoebe.
I hear you on that, I’ve considered it before. I think it’s pretty situational but if I have an extra moveslot it’s not a bad idea to try !
You’d think with two pseudo-legendaries, this would go a lot smoother
Glacia is easily the most threatening member with the Auto rain and ice types, and with them being Dragons, it can almost never end well.

I love how the dragon type is one of the harder ones. Like, ghost will be harder because you only have like... four of them, and two are special attackers, while ghost is physical. Legit, I can't wait to see how you pull that off :) Love the video!

Ghost type is probably even worse in team building
Mainly because you can't use mega, MEGA Sableye or Ultra Dusclops.

Yikes, so without Sableye and Dusclops he gets what? Gengar, Misdreavus, Banette, Shedinja... and that's it for full evos!? RIP. At least Haunter's not terrible, but then he's gonna have to add either Gastly or Shuppet to fill the last slot.

Ground monotype hype
I caught a Shiny Sunkern above Oldale Town that learns growth when it evolves (it had a sun stone as well), it's probably the only pokemon with a set up move in the game but it's on a Sunflora so it's kinda laughable.
Lol yeah they give the worst pokemon some +1 set up moves but took out all the +2’s and all set up on good mons 😭

Should have done Dratini or Bagon as your 6th just for the lolz. I also don’t feel it breaks species clause to use a pre evolution because it’s technically a different pokemon. All that being said, I loved it and well done!
