- Welcome to an even harder video then can you beat pokemon emerald kaizo with only starter pokemon, this time we will find out if we can beat pokemon emerald kaizo with only BUG type pokemon.This might not seem that hard but the level cap in this game is crazy and on top of that every trainer has an elite team and did i mention that your pokemon can't gain any ev's and your opponent always gets max ev's it's also not possible to use any items in battle so this challenge is definetly going to be interesting.

i love how with every other Pokemon challenge that starts with "can you beat..." the answer is almost always yes, then when they're playing Emerald Kaizo it's almost always no

I believe vitams won’t work.
Max IVs wouldn’t be enough to make enough of a difference here.
A few people have beat the champion with a monotype team in kaizo so far (water and grass with set mode; normal with shift mode) so a monotype run isn’t absolutely insane, but this is bug type

The one thing that keeps me from playing this Rom is the low encounter rate. It drains the enjoyment when you go as long as 30 minutes without an encounter, making grinding near impossible.

You can catch a pokemon with sweet scent. I think in this game tropius learns it.

The way the rom was designed discourages grinding and really tests knowledge and strategy. Yeah there’s a whole bunch of “unfair” moments, but nothing too crazy that you can’t figure out after a few attempts at any battle
Bellsprout learns sweetscent at lvl 11 you can get it in the forest and untill the 2nd boss encounters are normal btw. If that is the only thing that is stoping you, you should try it

Bug type is my fav pokemon type, vespiqueen is my favorite bug type pokemon. Because her design is excellent and her signature moves is unique. There is something that makes me captivated by bugs

@yvrNathan the only way you could do it would be if you saved during the fights for peak rng but at that point its not really beating the game
My favorite bug type will always be Butterfree. One of those with Psychic carried me through gen 1.

Volbeat and Illumies are third-generation pure bug types. But they aren't used much if at all.
A lot of these battles would’ve been impossible even with lvl 100 bugs. I just replayed thru emerald kaizo and there were about 4-5 battles that should’ve been double battles but for some reason aren’t in your recording
The rom has been patched since he uploaded the video, probably several times at this point.

Actually I did it I use a sunny day on one of my pokemon to weaken his moves a d to cancel swamperts swiftswim ability so I can out speed an get a crit on giga drain and one shot

Well among all bugtype pokemon, Volcarona which was a Fire X Bug type was my favourite Bug type. I think it's a cool combination with fire type as a Bug and that's all.

Also, Parasect may be a good option vs that Swampert, not sure if you tried that though.
