Hey Mortski, Yeah I'm late, but you said you read everyone. Get some clear tubing, and fill it up with water, and add food coloring if you need to see it better. Also use a hole saw to cut old side walls outta tires expired, but they make great body, and bed cushions to adjust levels. Then use the new level mentioned above, because water will always find true level no matter how much angle the surface underneath is. Trust me about this, as I have old house sitting on top of piers and no way to use Lazer level, but as long as the tubing is long enough to go from one side to the other side you can level everything in between as well as end to end. Just have to attach a way to hang each end of the tubing that is equal on both ends, and then make sure to put something to hang it on every place needed is in same location to hold tubing in same place with same reference to go by. Yeah another novel but wtf I'm too dam old to change. BTW ever measure the center of front axle outside to outside of center line mark on frame, and then do the same thing to the rear axle. Tell me how much wider the front tires are from center compared to rear tires Some reason beyond my understanding, cheverlet decided to make front axles wider track than rear up to 1967 when they changed body styles from the series before the 67 to 72. Mortski minute that one would you please. Peace n Harmony makes the world a better place for everyone

I'm always excited ☺️ to see your videos and still learn something new from time to time now after all these years that I have been able to continue to be interested in continuing my work doing it. Slowly getting to the point of hopefully being able to work part time for my company now and getting started on my own shop soon at my age and if it wasn't for you and a couple of others on the TH-cam I would not even consider it at my age, but I would like to continue to do it health issues and all because of the inspiration I get from watching you get to work and get it done helps me want to get busy and start with my car and hopefully help those who need the little tips and tricks that you bigger guys don't have the time to do and it would be a honor for me to do things that no one else wants to. Thanks again for your time, work, and experience with everything and the information on the things that you provide are as priceless as Mojo and the Duff you shared your time with as you share with the world 🌎🌍. Have a great week and I hope you will be able to kick start me in the right direction. You can E-mail me at 2captainjohnt.elliott@gmail.com and I have a couple of huge antique yards if I could be of any service to you for anything else you might need to continue with the great service you provide to everyone. Looking forward to hearing from you sooner or later Mr Mortske and Duff.
I had an '04 Dodge D150 shortbed that I lowered with a 2/4 drop kit. It looked bitchin', but man oh man did it ride rough! The worst day was when I busted the pinion yoke one rainy morning, and after driving 120 miles to get a replacement I spent an hour lying in a stream of water replacing the yoke. Good times...
Been there , done that. It's fun when the front yoke drops out 'cause of a hump in the road - sounds like maybe a plane about to be ditched during wwll and probably as scary!
Had my 86 Silverado stolen out of the front yard March the 10th just put new engine New trans new tires it was a perfect ga truck not a single rust spot I got it from a elder lady that has had it in storage for 14 years after her husband the original owner passed away just cleaned it up after the trans install and was going that morning to put full coverage on it and they took it at 12:15 a.m

In 1994,I bought what I thought would be a quick fix up for a car. I then realized that it would be a lot more work than I had time for. I decided to put off restoring it until after retirement. Well I retired in 2015 and I just in the past month or so started working on it. It is a1974 Jensen Healer that had bad floors but everything else was at least average. The electrics was and still is a nightmare. I had the body epoxy primed and that didn't go well. It wasn't put down on clean metal so the paint is cracking and peeling up everywhere. Even so, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I will drive this if its the last thing I do. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy your videos.
7/16 bolt heads and nuts are different sizes because back in the day when you went to sears and bought a set of wrenches, you only got one of each size. This way you had what you needed without having to buy a second set. What? You said wrong answers only. I figured that load of crap was as good as any bs anyone else will come up with. Have a nice day, Mortske. Peace.
No matter what you are working on it's always entertaining and informative. Trolls will be Trolls in the comments. You should get duff a set of coveralls that say "shop foreman"!
I’m so old, when I was a kid, U-haul used Safety pins to tap into the wires and wrap electrical tape to keep from shorting out on the bumpers. The back bumper is a rear unit flipped upside down and that’s why it looks all wonky (that’s a word) Love those Mortske minutes! See you later this month…
Great videos, all of them. You make working on these almost terminal vehicles look easy which encourages many of us to try things out of our comfort level. Especially liked the part when you were giving advice about buying the cars you work on in your videos. Agree with all of your insight and important advice.
I 100% agree with your Cruisin with Duff old vehicle logic. I 65 yrs old (and don’t need to bs you to swell your head up)😊 I’ve done most of what you talked about. I’ve got and had a few high dollar builds I’ve done myself have made some profit off some but didn’t factor in a lot of my labor. Always had intentions of keeping them at first but then later changed my mind. Still love the old stockish things I’ve had and worked on in the end more then the shiney ones just because I could actually use them daily. Don’t get me wrong. I like the shiny modern amenities I put on my old rides but don’t do the rain etc. I do drive them all on trips but usually end up doing paint touch ups from rocks etc. I am one that won’t have one if I can’t drive it. Good info to the young guys trying to figure out what they want.
Generally speaking bolt heads are 1.5 times larger thath the thread diameter. (1/2" bolt, 3/4" wrench) This works well for even 1/8" increments. Once you get down to 1/16" increments, the theoretical wrench would be in 1/32" increments.
Great video I picked to work on a 99 Sonoma because there is plenty of these trucks around, and parts are cheap . I’m into it for $2700 Canadian and that’s with the V8 swap . It’s no 67 Mustang or Camaro but it fits my budget and skillset . Cheers 🇨🇦
Anytime I can learn a thing or three from Mortske. I'm all ears. I had ordered a scraper a year or so ago. I had used It on a few lil projects. But just did a transmission on my sons 89 f150 4x4 that super scraper sure came in handy.
I have a 65 F100, restored it mostly myself...nothing like driving a classic that you work on, know every nut and bolt, getting a thumbs up...loved your insight while driving...love the channel.
Very true about driving and fixing old cars. I bought one I could afford, it needed work, but my dad, son and I put in some time and a few parts and it's on the road. I don't know everything, but it's amazing how much can be learned through youtube, all it takes is some time and being willing to try. Thanks for being one of the driving forces getting me over the hump to by one.
Straight up FACTS about true costs/availability for GOOD body work and upholstery shops..... It's twice as much as your numbers in OKC. I REALLY miss ND having 6 classics. Keep on keepin' on Mortske!
We used a grease base for spedocables and only lubed the bottom 1/2 to 3/4 and it will libe the upper as you insert the cable, I'm old and that was what we were taught in 1964-66!!
It's great to hear of a family business that isn't taken over by a conglomerate, lota work on this one, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
My dad had a new 62 Chevy pickup 6 cyl 4 speed. I got to drive it a few times back in the day. Your rig brings back good memories. Those tail gate latch chains need some hose/tubing over them to keep from messing up the paint. We used old bicycle innertubes way back when.
I agree 100 percent about Buying cars, Last Summer i got what i feel was a Unicorn, 1970 Chevy C20 CST Pickup, 402 Big Block, 400 Turbo, Dana 60 rear. A/C California Truck Black with Cream interior. Had been in a wood floor barn in California since 1983, Guy in a town near me bought 9 cars and trucks and brought them back east , sold them at a Local Ma & Pa's auction house, Never has been painted, Zero Rust anywhere. Not Even Pinhole, ALL Original, Original Paint never had been messed with. It Ran and Drove, Right now i have been going through it, New Brakes, Wheel Cylinders, Rubber Brake Hoses, all the usual under the hood, Cleaning and buffing, Inside and out, General once over, It will stay original other than wheels & tires. Its going to be a fun Driver when its done. No Garage Queen, It will get Driven Daily when done. I paid a little more than you suggested, Feel it was a steal at 11k, should be under 15 when done. BTW, Have a Friend who has been doing 67 to 72 Chevy Trucks for the last 35 years, Has a Barn loft full of original parts he saved when he had trucks he parted out. So Just about any Used OEM Part i need he has.
Awesome video Mortske. Getting people off the couch. For years. I have found a niche in little Suzuki off-roaders. Very capable. & very affordable in New Zealand. Taught the kids how to drive a manual. TH-cam taught. I did high end corporate jobs. But I get more satisfaction timing an engine correctly. 👏👏👏
Mortske, I watched the whole thing. Not that I'll ever be doing it for myself, but you're always entertaining. I appreciate the way you approach projects without any wasted moves (apparently). Be good to Duff, who's without help? You'd lose the shop for sure!
your absolutely right on old cars. Find the best bang for your buck and just have fun! Mine is a 70 Buick GS all original paint yet with some original patina. The car set for about 23 years and was brought to life, just rolled 80k on it. I have been doing some work every spring such as updating the brakes to front disc, the front end and new gas tank. I dont get it all tore apart and try to restore it. I would lose interest if it was tore down and waiting on funding and time to restore it to perfect, i just really enjoy driving it every summer.
Couple of points 1. I like your channel because you are like me, when you fix things you are making them better, not perfect. And B. You should pin a list of all the things you don't like and when you get to one of the four hundred and twelve things you don't like you can just say, 'see the pinned list' to save on you having to explain over and over again. 😅 I like the spoked chromeys.
Back in the late 60s we had a old blacksmith that fixed a lot of things for farmers but you had to get there before lunch because he washed his bologna samwich down with Canadian club 😊 he always said bird shit will hold a ton 🤔 after that i bought my Lincoln 225 stick welder he was right bird does hold a ton 😁😁 still have that Lincoln 👍
Love watching your videos each week and I find myself building confidence in my skill set working on my own projects. Recently purchased a 1993 C1500 Suburban for $500. Drove it home and now the work begins. Engine is in tough shape so that's number one on the list. Then likely a lowering kit in its future since it's a 2wd.👍 Bottom line is that I am a firm believer that you do more than entertain many of us, you inspire. I along with many others appreciate it. Keep up the great work and as always I look forward to the next video dropping.👊
Yup.....samitches and wrenches is a piece of mind and besides you get miles of smiles and you don't get that with today cars......good content and thanks
That's awesome you read comments nobody else does anymore they have some service that does it for them that really sucks but I really dig your show can't wait till Monday nights
Milwaukee sells a electric 90 cut off for about 180$ and it’s actually really nice for getting to bolts just throwing it out there for you, I just bought one for my job and got the bigger battery and I use the hell out it so far
I watch your videos because I like your philosophy. I have no interest in trying to create a show car/truck. All my old pickups have been drivers. I improve what I can. Watching this video, I can relate. You got a ton of work and annoying things fixed in this video. Keep the great content coming!
Enjoyed the video. Lots of wisdom there. Both my vehicles are 20 plus years old. If a person sets their mind to it, they CAN work on their own vehicles. Keep up the good work.
Ya know, a guy was thinking while watching this, that maybe I probably would have set the bed back on the frame and then raised the whole thing into place till the bed lined up with the cab, did the welding patches at that point. then it would at least look kinda right. Then there wouldn't have to be complicated things like measuring, guessing and math things to hope it would line up. Very nice truck.
I bought a 1968 Camaro roller 3 years ago from Florida for. $8500, 1000 to ship it to Texas, the floor, roof, and trunk was rusted, I've bought motor, 4 speed transmission, all new sheet metal, all new parts. I'm 90 percent with all parts. I'm at $38000 now and still need the floor and roof welded in , I just hope I'm not in it another 3 years. Thanks for the video !!
I really like your content because it relates to my life and work. I swap engines on airplanes at work, and on old 90s cars and trucks at home. I think its interesting that your projects have a lot of the same worn parts mine do, rusty brake lines, worn ball joints, sloppy door pins, rotted floors.
Lowering old trucks causes frame damage..and it looks horrible..
Clearly me lowering it after it had been rotted out caused the damage.
By damage do you mean hitting stuff, or rusting out more? 🤔🤨

you are someone a lot of people do watch. i here lots of show's copy the things you say.
room for activities, the way that it is. to name just a couple. laugh when i hear them. knowing where they started.
thanks for watching and commenting!
Hell yes! Make my day with Mortske repair! I look forward to Mondays !!
Hey Mortski,
Yeah I'm late, but you said you read everyone.
Tell me how much wider the front tires are from center compared to rear tires
Some reason beyond my understanding, cheverlet decided to make front axles wider track than rear up to 1967 when they changed body styles from the series before the 67 to 72.
Mortski minute that one would you please.
Peace n Harmony makes the world a better place for everyone
thanks for the tips!
Just two guys in a shop pumping their jacks.
Your the king 👑 of the budget build and the great deal or you would not be gotten it. I'm not surprised about the 200% mark up it's the Mortske Repair way to keep the shop and being a millionaire.
A good business man does what is necessary to survive but he should also help those who are able to help others with things that they are not able to get if he can for a reasonable amount to the little guy that wants to start out with the trade of the older ones. Great day to you and your family. How is Mojo doing, getting worried about him and his family! Haven't seen him lately and that is a great tragedy! I will continue to pray for him and you all that he is okay because he was ill you said about 3 weeks ago I think 🤔 but can't remember exactly. Hopefully he is recovering well and will be back at the best Shop in the Dakota territory and the best in the Business besides you and Duff . God bless you all and I will be looking forward to seeing or hearing back from you about a update on him. I'm surprised that I don't see more people wondering about the man that is the helper to the Mortske Repair shop and crew. I am going to start a channel soon and I will be buying some merchandise from you for my garage and hopefully you can shout out for some help with some subscription holders after I put out some content and you hopefully like it to help me out. Thanks for always reading and commenting back on my comments. I have been a service call mechanic and severe duty/heavy duty equipment and semi truck tire man along with doing medium duty and smaller car and truck repairs for so long now.
Glass pack is the only muffler for straight 6's,also love Mort mins
ewww
For a license plate light, pick up a license plate mount for a trailer. Also, powdered graphite works great for speedo cables.
Thanks for the info!
Another epic feature length movie, thanks Mort.
our pleasure!
For some reason, watching those bald tires spinning in the snow like oreos was mesmerizing. I watched it 3 times 😂
Yeah, why did they do that?
bahaha
Grab a roached rusted. Squarebody. Frame and plop this body and bed on it.....
Dan here!!! At mortske speed......what ??? Lol
Spinning in the snow like oreos? Do oreos spin? Let alone in the snow?
Had my 86 Silverado stolen out of the front yard March the 10th just put new engine New trans new tires it was a perfect ga truck not a single rust spot I got it from a elder lady that has had it in storage for 14 years after her husband the original owner passed away just cleaned it up after the trans install and was going that morning to put full coverage on it and they took it at 12:15 a.m
Sorry to hear that!
Honestly man I love your videos especially the c10 ones but if your going to make them 2+ hours they need more duff cameos
Appreciate the feedback
My typical Monday watching Mortske while sitting here at the dock waiting to get loaded. Monday motivation!
Your camera makes us feel that we're live in person with you and Duff Dog Mort.
Is that good or bad?
@@MortskeRepair It's a good thing.
@@johnm.5848 can you smell what Duff rolls in?! 🤔

LoL 🤣😆
I appreciate your view on having cool old cars/pickups that are cool but usable. I’m the same way. “Beater with a heater” that I can maintain and improve on but still use and enjoy. As always, keep up the great work!👌🏼
Dang right!
Music level is perfect on this vid
Its so close to Frank Zappa's " I'm a little pimp with his hair gassed back" that I worry about copyright...
Peace.
bahaha
1969, first set of Craftsmen! Yes, those days were full of sensible events! Like working on old trucks!
Duff fits just right with the window height. My kind of pickup too... Farm fresh.
Time for a new frame!! 😊😊
agreed
No matter what you are working on it's always entertaining and informative. Trolls will be Trolls in the comments. You should get duff a set of coveralls that say "shop foreman"!
Mortske Monday!!!
Gooood morning!
Great videos, all of them. You make working on these almost terminal vehicles look easy which encourages many of us to try things out of our comfort level. Especially liked the part when you were giving advice about buying the cars you work on in your videos. Agree with all of your insight and important advice.
Glad you like them!
This is completely unrelated but. I miss the mower man lol.
For real 😂
we upgraded to Mojo!
Maybe we can have him do a ride by sometime
Absolutely Love that truck! Rusted - Twisted frame and all, she's a beauty. Good Job Mortske!
Very interesting about the Scotchman
Great video
I picked to work on a 99 Sonoma because there is plenty of these trucks around, and parts are cheap .
Glad to hear it!
I have a 65 F100, restored it mostly myself...nothing like driving a classic that you work on, know every nut and bolt, getting a thumbs up...loved your insight while driving...love the channel.
Right on!
Learn by doing
Cool beans. My son watched your video with me . Now he wants a older truck. Keep up the great work
That is awesome!
Straight up FACTS about true costs/availability for GOOD body work and upholstery shops..... It's twice as much as your numbers in OKC. I REALLY miss ND having 6 classics. Keep on keepin' on Mortske!
Love the long episodes.. helps my rotten day go by a little faster.. thanks Sir Morticus!
My pleasure!
Same to you
My dad had a new 62 Chevy pickup 6 cyl 4 speed. I got to drive it a few times back in the day. Your rig brings back good memories.
Those tail gate latch chains need some hose/tubing over them to keep from messing up the paint. We used old bicycle innertubes way back when.
You could post classic truck vids every week, and I would be okay with that! Another awesome vid Mortske!
Good to know!
Great find!
Awesome
I always have to watch twice. First at work i Listen as im wrenching, then at home i actually watch the videos!
Much appreciated!
Mortske, I watched the whole thing. Not that I'll ever be doing it for myself, but you're always entertaining. I appreciate the way you approach projects without any wasted moves (apparently). Be good to Duff, who's without help? You'd lose the shop for sure!
Thanks for watching!
1:22:54 The cars you find are legendary! Loving your enthusiasm.
one of my favorite trucks of all time... you have a gem.. love the content... put that duff dog for me
I have to agree, you read all the comments. It does make the show better.
Glad to hear it
Put a good frame under that beautiful truck it’s dang well worth it. I love that truck.
your absolutely right on old cars.
Thanks for sharing
no idea on that guy, hope you get to your new frame for that truck I like that year.
Couple of points
1. I like your channel because you are like me, when you fix things you are making them better, not perfect. And
B. You should pin a list of all the things you don't like and when you get to one of the four hundred and twelve things you don't like you can just say, 'see the pinned list' to save on you having to explain over and over again. 😅
I like the spoked chromeys.
Great 62 c10 , I have a 76 and 65 k10 I agree with you , keep them on the road and enjoy them , both my trucks are mostly original. Great video thanks
Right on
Back in the late 60s we had a old blacksmith that fixed a lot of things for farmers but you had to get there before lunch because he washed his bologna samwich down with Canadian club 😊 he always said bird shit will hold a ton 🤔 after that i bought my Lincoln 225 stick welder he was right bird does hold a ton 😁😁 still have that Lincoln 👍
good stuff!
Love watching your videos each week and I find myself building confidence in my skill set working on my own projects. Recently purchased a 1993 C1500 Suburban for $500. Drove it home and now the work begins. Engine is in tough shape so that's number one on the list. Then likely a lowering kit in its future since it's a 2wd.👍
Bottom line is that I am a firm believer that you do more than entertain many of us, you inspire. I along with many others appreciate it. Keep up the great work and as always I look forward to the next video dropping.👊
Glad to hear it!
Hope you had blessed Easter Mortske. That ole truck does need some work. But, good enough to Flip. Thanks for sharing!
💯👊👍
Same to you!
Yup.....samitches and wrenches is a piece of mind and besides you get miles of smiles and you don't get that with today cars......good content and thanks
Right on
That's awesome you read comments nobody else does anymore they have some service that does it for them that really sucks but I really dig your show can't wait till Monday nights
Absolutely
Fun episode, and a big thank you for cranking down the music during the non oratory sections!
Glad to hear it
The interior of this thing is so freaking cool.
except its red!
Thanks for the advice! Working a couple of low dollar projects to work towards a nice classic and found your insight super relevant. Cheers.
You have patience of a saint, no way I would've done that without pulling the motor. This why I watch your videos keep up the good work kiddos.
Thanks 👍
Milwaukee sells a electric 90 cut off for about 180$ and it’s actually really nice for getting to bolts just throwing it out there for you, I just bought one for my job and got the bigger battery and I use the hell out it so far
I watch your videos because I like your philosophy. I have no interest in trying to create a show car/truck. All my old pickups have been drivers. I improve what I can. Watching this video, I can relate. You got a ton of work and annoying things fixed in this video. Keep the great content coming!
Right on!
I really enjoy those kind of history stories really cool thank you very much morskie
Glad you enjoyed it
Enjoyed the video. Lots of wisdom there. Both my vehicles are 20 plus years old. If a person sets their mind to it, they CAN work on their own vehicles. Keep up the good work.
Well said!
Duff is the cutest most helpful dog on youtube. Give him a thorough head scratching for his hard work!
There’s folks who say there “car people” then there’s this maniac. Which is fkn cool as hell. Cheers Mortske
thanks!
The wooden 4 foot level is a very good level, masons use them while laying block and brick .
Awesome
I bought a 1968 Camaro roller 3 years ago from Florida for. $8500, 1000 to ship it to Texas, the floor, roof, and trunk was rusted, I've bought motor, 4 speed transmission, all new sheet metal, all new parts. I'm 90 percent with all parts. I'm at $38000 now and still need the floor and roof welded in , I just hope I'm not in it another 3 years. Thanks for the video !!
Dang!
I really like your content because it relates to my life and work. I swap engines on airplanes at work, and on old 90s cars and trucks at home. I think its interesting that your projects have a lot of the same worn parts mine do, rusty brake lines, worn ball joints, sloppy door pins, rotted floors.
Very cool!
