Back when VTEC change-overs were clearly audible. Nice car.
Intake helps get some noise outta VTEC, i wish my DC5 was true VTEC :(
Technically that’s the secondary intake opening around 6k rpm on a GS-R
I'm only about a year and a half late watching this, i'm not sure how i missed this series but i will definitely be checking out all of the episodes. When you started talking about your history with the car and your previous R, it made me think of my current restoration. I bought a 96 GSR sedan in 2003 when i was in college. Daily drove it up until 2010 when i sold it...talk about instant seller's remorse. Fast forward to 2014 and i told my soon to be wife at that point that i wanted another integra after we got married for a fun car. So, i started looking at craigslist just to see what was out there. No intention of actually buying. Until I saw a 96 GSR sedan for sale about 45 minutes from me. After looking through the pictures and talking to the guy, it was my old car. I bought it as soon as i possibly could. The years out of my possession were not good to it though. The guy i bought it off of was not the guy i sold it to, and he used it as a winter driver. I stripped the car in 2014 and did a lot of rust repair work, replaced basically every part on the entire car with the goal of having a new 1996 GSR sedan. Drove it for a couple summers and then parked it again 18 months ago for quarter panel rust repair and a body work, working towards a complete paint job. Just finished the paint job in September, putting her all back together now so that i can finally really enjoy this car. I am the 2nd and 5th owner of this car now lol.

John n George..Cant wait to show the video to my wife!!... 2017 i bought back my old EF hatch that i drove in high school...i got a personal loan and just showed up with the car, had to sleep in the couch over the weekend but i had to have it back it was worth it.. She cant believe my weekend bucket is the car i actually drove 20yrs ago!! Viva the car guys!! 👍
Aloera 1980 That is so cool. My wife understands that I’m a major car guy, but still wonders why I’ve put myself into so much debt over these things. Just work hard and pay the bills, she’ll understand you at some point. 👍🏻
Got a new integra right after high school back in 1999. Had the ITR jdm front end,
I/H/E lowered with wheels. Such a timeless design.

I have been waiting for a build like this!! Loved the Civic build but soon happy about this one. Wish I still had my Integra Type R. That cross over brings back alot of memories! Can't wait for it to start.
Hi John. I've owned two Integra GS-Rs in my time, a white '94 and Dark Violet Pearl '00 (both new). I've moved on to bigger and better things, but I miss those cars. The current color combination of your Integra is gorgeous. I wouldn't change a thing. But if you have plans to make it nicer than it is now, this thing is really going to be special. I look forward to this build and I'm sure it's going to be amazing! Take care, buddy.
Don’t know that I could ever bring myself to get rid of a dvp gsr. Super rare car and worth a good chunk of change to the right person.
@@andrewwilken9725 The color was awesome. I only saw one other one like it in person (several online). Back in late '99, I wrecked my supercharged '94 GS-R and went to buy a replacement. The DVP was on the showroom floor ready to go to the Charlotte International Auto Show the next day. I bought it on the spot and as I was signing the paperwork, out in the parking lot of the Acura dealership, they were unloading a yellow Type R that ended up at the show. Much better choice anyway.😉 Working too far from home, I ended up putting almost 7K miles on the car in 4 months. Then I changed jobs, but that place had a long gravel driveway, so I only drove it there a few times. I ended up putting a turbo on the car and kept it in the garage except for special occasions. My wife and I bought a new house, had kids, etc. 4 years later, the car only had a little over 11,500 miles on it and since it wasn't driven much, I ended up selling it. I can relate to John when he says "saving it for the next guy". Haha. Looking back, I wish I had kept it.😶 Oh well. Hope I didn't bore you to death.😴 Take care, buddy.
TheMick26 not at all, cool story. It’s neat to hear about the life of some of the more rare cars Honda/Acura made. And picturing that car in the showroom and an itr on the lot brand new takes me back to better times.

Yalls are so dedicated to Honda cars, I think Honda should fly you to Japan and give yalls a tour in their factory. I know Honda always do that for tuners around the world. They fly them to Japan, cater their meals, and put them in a Honda owned hotel and tour them around Japan Honda scenes.

Love this! I have a 2000 civic EJ coupe with a 96 GSR engine and transmission. That engine and transmission is getting a complete rebuild! Thank you for the kick ass videos.

I wouldn't change the colour as I think it looks great and the paint job is nice. I would just paint the engine bay to match.

I completely agree on the whole non matching engine bay "style". It's a fad that will age as well as aggressor front bumpers and Saleen wings
That might be the cleanest Integra I've ever seen. It's so straight with absolutely 0 rust. I have a 97 EJ8 Civic coupe with a built LSVTEC turbo that makes 588 whp and while my car is clean for a 97, but it's nowhere near that clean.

I’m in the Estero area and it was on Craigslist. It was a beauty but ended up snagging an FA5. It was eye candy for sure though, congrats on the repurchase!

I remember a guy on the integra forums having issues with the dyno values on his ITR being down on power when he had his 15x8 sticky track tires on vs his regular tires, interesting stuff, makes me curious about my car now lol

The silver on silver really looks good. If you change, I hope it's to the JDM spec Vogue Silver Metallic (VSM).
High 190whp is more than fair for a mostly standard power plant. Looks like the VTEC change point is lowered based on the graph. I recommend k-swap and boost. It’ll be easy to knock out a 9sec pass on slicks.
It's so hard to find a well kept Integra. I want one so bad.
