Even the V6 Accord Coupes were quite good as well. Each were styled and designed off the engineering prowess demonstrated in the Original Acura NSX Type R. The EDM Accord Euro Type R is a personal favorite

True. Because all cars nowadays looks like an egg on wheels... I am glad that they didn't change the exterior design of the new Skyline (you don't need to change something that is perfect looking)... But the fcked with the look of the new BRZ(the 2020 model was original and perfect, they didn't need to redesign it but they did)...

I had an 01 Integra GS-R for 17 years. Was hands down the most favorite car I have ever owned. I even still have dreams about driving it around. Not only was it fun to drive, it was reliable. The only thing I ever changed on it besides the typical fluids/brakes/belts/plugs, was a front wheel bearing. Literally that's the only thing that ever went wrong with the car in 17 years. Never once broke down. I drove her hard too, properly of course. It would scream 7k+ at least once almost every time I drove it. The Integra, I'd argue, is probably one of the best *overall* cars ever to be made and the third gen was nothing short of perfection.
Whenever someone tells me why would they ever get a car like this when they could just get something faster/nicer, your reaction to driving this GSR is the perfect answer. !!!!
That 1.8 liter inline 4 VTEC sounds super awesome, I even got excited when I hear the turbo spools up and fludder with the engine sound...! Put a 😃 on my face every time.
I've owned a 190 WHP - 1995 Milano Red Integra GSR and loved it....won many street races in it too back in the day...this review brought back many good memories
preludeF20Bking I agree.... I sold the car in 2003 and enjoyed it very much. I did a lot of weight reduction on it as well, and I was beating some Type R swapped, all motor 92-95 Civic Hatchbacks
LHT is always so clean, balanced, and meticulous with their builds whether it’s ac shop or customer’s vehicle. Highly underrated performance tuning shop/brand.
Love those Acuras from the 90's and early 2000's! I wish he had put the Acura symbols on the front and back though. I wish Honda could regain some of magic from the 90's.
Absolutely fantastic restoration! I think you forgot to mention that it’s also a JDM front end conversion... A testament to how well the car was built by LHT!
I own a 2018 Type r. But i think i would give it up to have my 99 Si back if it was the way it was when i sold it. These late 90s early 2000s Hondas are so awesome
My GOD!!!! Nothing beats the JDM front End with the Stanley black housing one piece headlights. Just like the 90-93 years too. I always disliked the 4 single headlights found of the US versions. Reminded me too much of the 6th Gen Celicas.
If only all Hondas were this clean. Love that sound!

If everyone was rich most would be this clean.. If an average Joe attempted this build, you are looking at $20K easy with labor. A full Titanium twin loop exhaust with welding and fabrication would cost you $3K+ at least for a normal person paying for all the labor. A turbo kit like that with a good turbo and good piping is $8K at least if you include labor. A really good quality paint job? $1500+(can be a lot more depending).. Trans rebuild or upgrades? $1k+.. Suspension? Another $1K.. The list just goes on and on..

Raiti's Rides I had an integra GSR for 8 years from 2001-2009 sold it and now regret selling it, I recently bought a 2000 GSR this year and love it, it’s all stock besides springs and cold air intake. These cars are something else especially when you crack that VTEC, Honda doesn’t make them like they use to anymore

Definitely a JDM legend that's affordable, if you can find one that is. I loved the mid 90's to early 2000's look of Japanese cars. Hondas, Acuras, Toyota's. Even the germans like VW and BMW, they all had such a timeless look and they didn't have the rev limiter and silenced exhaust they have now. Great review, Joe.
Joe I know John is a good friend and that he does impeccable work but in one breath you talk about Naturally Aspirated and then you say John Turbo'd it - personally I've never been a Turbo Fan if you can get what you want with a NA engine
As a tampa native I've know about LHT for a long time. They've been at the forefront of the honda scene here for a long time. This car is the epitome of JDM restomod. I got to zonk you on a couple items though Joe. You didnt call out the fact that this car has a full Jdm front end swap with the one piece headlights. You even stopped to mention the side markers on the fenders but not the fact that the USDM integra didnt have them. Only because he had the front end swap (including fenders) were they there. You briefly mentioned the 5 lugs but again didnt really talk about the fact that those were converted (probably from a type r). Love that you're doing reviews like this but you missed the coolest parts of the car.

Awesome review! I used to own an '02 RSX Type S (first yr model, right after the integra was discontinued). Listening to the sound of that engine brought me back to how my RSX sounded with an 8000 redline!

@@AdversaryNemesis1124 NP man.. These performance cars these days are already pushing the boundaries of what is safe for the streets. For a FWD car, the Type R is incredibly fast and handles incredibly well right from factory. Being that it is Turbo charged from the Factory, just some mild tuning with a more freely flowing exhaust could net you 50-60 more hp no problem with very minimal effort. These older hondas need a lot of modification and upgrading to get them power and proper modern performance. And being that you are under Factory Warranty still, I would def try to limit pushing too much power unless you have the money to fix things out of warranty.
I had the 2003 Honda SE with this GSR B16 VTECH engine swap. What made me do the swap is when I pulled next to a GSR back in 2003 and the way it just pulled off the line stock was crazy. That moment I knew I gotta have that engine or the car itself. This car is a legend in compact...there’s no conversion about the best JDMs without mentioning the Type R/GSR.
That is THE best example of a modified Acura! So clean and perfectly designed to perform.

I was fortunate to drive a modified b18c Integra GSR with 275whp and it was NA.. It screamed to 10k rpm. What a car. It ran consistent 12s.

For a FWD car, the Type R is incredibly fast and handles incredibly well right from factory. Being that it is Turbo charged from the Factory, just some mild tuning with a more freely flowing exhaust could net you 50-60 more hp no problem with very minimal effort. These older hondas need a lot of modification and upgrading to get them power and proper modern performance. And being that you are under Factory Warranty still, I would def try to limit pushing too much power unless you have the money to fix things out of warranty.

I had the 2003 Honda SE with this GSR B16 VTECH engine swap. What made me do the swap is when I pulled next to a GSR back in 2003 and the way it just pulled off the line stock was crazy. That moment I knew I gotta have that engine or the car itself. This car is a legend in compact...there’s no conversion about the best JDMs without mentioning the Type R/GSR.
