  • This 1998 Acura Integra GSR doesn't look like much, but it really packs a punch with a forged, high compression B18C engine by Evasive Motorsports, making 220 horsepower at the wheels from only 1.9 liters. And although it's been stolen eight times, it's still kicking strong.
    Check out this Integra on Wheelwell!

    Only stolen eight times, a record low for an Acura Integra!

      That's actually very true. Every single car meet in Europe, an Integra gets stolen.

      Jdm262 I should say car show, where people come, park outside, and go see the cars on display or cars drifting. Cars are unattended, and many Integras are stolen. Literally after every event, a poor lad has his integra stolen and posts pics on Facebook so people can help him.

    First of all thanks for anyone with positive feedback, I'm Luis the owner of the car and have been busy all day to see the comments. For the rest talking smack on the power please do your homework. I am pushing 220 hp to the wheels and the rev limiter engages at 9500 rpm. Honestly i have no shame in saying this i was nervous the whole drive. right before the video, on my way up to malibu, my igniter went out and the car bogged under hard acceleration.

    • @carlosa4906
      @carlosa4906 8 ปีที่แล้ว +53

      i was very serious the entire drive since i was watching the cluster the entire time... the car would hop rpms right before 7k . so all those calling that out do not know my car more than i do. I do admit to saying a few things wrong during the video for example talking about the compression being the highest comp recommended for 91 octane, i mis phrased from the nerves. I do accept making the mistake on the weight .... at the moment it was the only number that came to mind and i shouldn't have said i knew since i have not weighed it.

    • @marcnobel3938
      @marcnobel3938 8 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      When you have a custom ECU it can be also limited by the oil temprature or by the Octan of the fuel he is using. So that there is a Rev Limiter at 9.5K is still possible. I think he can even go higher.

    • @ashtonpearson801
      @ashtonpearson801 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      it was the igniter in the distributor. its a very common issue that causes the tach to bounce and be less reactive to the rpm signal.

    What a great build! This guy did an excellent job. Function over form is always refreshing on a 90's Honda or Acura. So many things were done right here; quality summer tires that fit, no excessive lowering or camber, high revving professionally built motor, quality bolt on mods, quality ground control suspension setup, all the body panels match color, intact interior, no crazy body modifications. Bravo sir!

    • @Patrick94GSR
      @Patrick94GSR 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Switch the interior door handle trim out for base model RS Integra trim, which has no interior door lock switches, so someone can't stick a coat hanger through the top edge of the door to try to unlock it. I switched mine out over 10 years ago. Locking the driver side door manually will still lock the passenger side door at the same time (sort of like central locking), and either one can be unlocked manually also.

      Depends largely on where you live, also. I've had my Integra 15 years and it's never been stolen. A break-in was attempted back in 2001 when I lived in Nashville with the car, in a crappy apartment. But now the car is always garaged at my house since late 2005, near the Memphis area.

      manual transmission is the best theft deterrent these days

    • @ThePants2012
      @ThePants2012 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not necissarily. There was a theft op going on in ohio about 10+ years ago where they would drive a flat bed around parking lots, yank the car up on the flat bed, haul them up to cleveland, strip them and dump the shell on the side of the freeway. Nobody would 2nd guess it and figure the car was being towed or repo'd. Alot of hondas disappeared out of Columbus that way.

    It's great to see Hondas on this channel, especially the DC2 Integra - love that car, my uncle used to have a JDM SiR-spec model back in the early 2000's. The DC2 was the car which inspired me to buy a Honda myself (a 5th gen Prelude, which I subsequently put a J32A2 motor into). Sadly, that story ended not to long ago - after six years of ownership it was destroyed last sunday by an oncoming 30-ton truck. The car is totalled, with frame damage so bad that even the doors don't close. Thankfully, me and my passenger just walked away from the accident. Durable car that was, my Lude...

    considering the cams, it most likely has upgraded valve springs and the fact its bored and sleeved, mechanically it can rev to 9500 without issues, shoot even the stock cams and valve springs can go that high but unreliably. the only reason why it redlined below 9k in this video was probably because it didn't make anymore power past 9k and that the tuner set it there.

      DjStanceZ there is no way to tell lots of the time until I get home whether a drone likenthis car has will affect audio. Since you probably realize I can't monitor audio and do a video in real time, I have no way of knowing until later if the sound isn't great. Way it goes.

      Well actually... "I" cross shopped them lol. For a pure "fun" car I looked at absolutely everything (most performance per price up to 15k that I could either buy, or buy and build) in the compact/hatch class. last month I bought a 100% stock and clean Integra GSR for 3k. I heavily considered the FiestaST too, but decided on the GSR with a 12k build. I figured I can build a car that will kill just about anything I could buy for 15k. A 2400lb super clean full interior GSR with power steering and AC @ 220whp all motor gonna be awesome fun

      Definitely sounds like the typical Honda boy that talks up their car but hasn't touched shit. I guarantee nothing that he said was done to it is really done to it. Maybe it has been stolen 8 times but the rev limiter at 9500 is bullshit as well as 220whp. If 220 was really how much it was making then it would be breaking the tires loose.

      All turbos have real turbo lag, denying that is not understanding how a turbo works.

    • @jordan-H0wdyH0
      @jordan-H0wdyH0 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      as long as the motor is running the turbo is spooling, what he is refering to is how long his turbo takes to get to max rpm. "no real lag" means it spools up very quickly, he's not saying there is no lag

    • @SI0AX
      @SI0AX 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Boost threshold: minimum RPM required to get the turbo to begin spinning.(example 1500rpm)
      Turbo lag: time required for turbo to achieve target boost pressure after hitting the threshold. (example: 1500 - 2200rpm)

      It's a small turbo on a small engine example of course.
      I've seen people put a large ball-bearing turbo(spins faster) on a 4cylinder engine that redlines at 6700 rpm and the threshold is 3500 but the turbo only really starts making noticeable power at like 4200RPM!
      It just makes it so you have to be speeding to use the turbo which I don't think is fun on a daily driver with such a low redline.

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    • @warkus123
      @warkus123 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I love the forza franchise too, It's realistic but without sacrificing gameplay, pure simulators can often become boring to me by being too realistic.
      Speaking of that, how realistic do you think Forza Motorsport 6 is compared to driving the cars in real life?

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Error Creator oh, I mean, not at all. There is no video game that can properly replicate the actual experience a real car provides. You need G-forces, vibrations, real depth perception, the feeling of weight shifting, , it's nothing like actually driving. But that goes for any simulator.

    • @warkus123
      @warkus123 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheSmokingTire Well yea I understand that, I do have a car with stick myself*, I meant more like as far as car capabilities go, if a car can take the same cornering speed, have same acceleration times etc. in game as in real life.
      *Nothing to brag about though, a Skoda Roomster with a 1.2L turbo 86hp, 118lb-ft petrol engine, it's slow and it's ugly, but for the size of car it's stupidly practical and I love it, as I think everyone does with their first car. A low mile 2011 car that only costed me about 6000$ or so.
