AWESOME! This video went straight to my favorites playlist. The way Nera explains the conventional deadlift is pretty much EXACTLY the way I teach my clients how to do the lift. It will for sure be used as reference material in the future. Great stuff!
I love when Jay does these. He explains things in such a simple and easy to understand manner. I always go away from his vids knowing more than before I watched.
Put together well. He speaks from experience and even gives examples of the way others lift. I'm glad he mentioned the part about glute and hip activation being lost once you hit the knees. Seems like too many ppl want to "pull" the weight of the floor. I'm implementing this tonight.
Thank you Animal and Jason Nera!! Jason's deadlift and squat videos in my opinion are the most informative of all the bid on basics. I realized after watching his squat video that 1) wasn't locking my back properly. I just would squeeze my shoulder blades together. 2) wasn't creating pressure against the belt 360. I was just pushing my stomach out. 3) kicking my hips back to far. I can't wait for his bench video as that is my weakest lift. Thanks again!!!
mr nera's points in the "big on the basics" squat video really helped me getting my shit together. i hope this video has the same effect on my deadlift, my hips are shooting up taking my hams and glutes out of the game, just as jay said. great video, this is the one of the reasons i rep animal apparel. im proud every time i put on those sweat oozing shirts. keep it up!
Just stumbled upon this vid and it couldn't be better timing. I've struggled the past few years with a litany of small back injuries and have once again started back up with deads. I think just about every thing I had doubts about was covered here. Even the pec thing. Thanks.
That was the simplest explanation of the deadlier I've ever fucking heard. I've been deadlifting for about a year, and it took me weeks to grasp the concept and gain correct conventional form, because I couldn't understand the explanation. Congrats to you man
WOW, Great video. Conventional is something I want and NEED to work on and this was definitely not the last time I watched this tutorial. Once again, great...
I never knew why I felt the deadlift in my chest sometimes. It's from not locking the lats into place. I can't wait to deadlift properly. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Great content, but I do have one point of constructive criticism. I think the sound quaility for these monologue type videos would benefit greatly with the use of a good lavalier mic to reduce the echoes and "sssss" you're getting with your current mic. Other than that, keep up the great work!
You guys are the best, for the people, for the customers. However from where im am in New Zealand youre products are expensive. Maybe having a flagship discounted product to get people on the brand would be benefical. The supplement market has exploded creating perfect competition meaning prices have dropped heavily. Il still buy Animals Paks to support you guys tho. Cheers cant wait til deadlift day.
Great video, I appreciate how clear Jay's speaking is, not talking in circles, or saying "uhh" or anything. A good teacher!
Best deadlifting video available. Jay Nera speaks clearly. Doesn't talk in circles. Gave me a new perception on my deadlift

A true master of his craft. I LOVE THESE BIG ON THE BASICS VIDEOS!!!

thanx Animal for these awesome big on basics series.

Great video. Jay Nera knows his stuff and more importantly knows how to convey the message. Highly informative.
you are a fantastic teacher. great stuff. you should make more videos.

Jay Nera and Animal thank you extremely for this brilliant tutorial, gains here I come!
This is the best deadlift video I have seen. Completely prodigious.

Easily the most informative deadlift video on youtube. Thanks guys!
Best deadlift tutorial IMO, thanks Jay and Animal.
Break the bar. Excellent cue from Jay on how to engage the lats. Thanks guys!
Great Vid!

Great video that give simple cues that are easy to remember for a very intricate lift!
Loving the content Animal
Amazing video, you have answered all of my questions. Thank you so much!!

Well done Jay. Nice and informative. Thanks for the tips.
Fantastic video dude, thanks and kind regards from the UK
Thnx jay and animal for bringing this video really helped my squats and deads !!:-)
Another great video.
Thank you. Very informative.
Good stuff Jay.
Externally rotate the shoulders! I was wondering why my chest felt that way. More ppl need to watch this vid.thank you!

Thanks mr nera

great stuff more please :)
I know this is old but would love to see some up to date training footage of jay
Is it possible for Jay to put out a benching tutorial? i'm really interested to see his approach on it
jealous of how when he tried to show lower back rounding around 10:45, his is still straight and its just thoracic rounding.
Awesome video. Oakstrong and larrywheels could really benefit from the wisdom of their Animal brother
This is really helpful! There's a bit of echo on the audio, though. Maybe try a different mic?
So the moving back till you tip over thing has to be done only first tym right ? To get to know optimal starting position for one person
The only upsetting thing about this is that I deadlifted today...can't wait to utilise some of these tips :)
Great vid. The sound isn't great though? Either way thank you for this vid.
"Good lift!"
These videos are so informative and helpful, but damn! The sound is awful, could u use a microphone on the athlete in future?

My ears bled in my headphones every time he drops the weight
Pete Rubish brought me here.
