let pete know today was my deadlift day on my 5x5 program and i took in his tip on foot placement...it really helped. So practical yet i couldn't see what i was doing wrong...realized i wad rolling the weight as he said lol. problem fixed
I’ve followed you many years Pete you’ve been very inspirational..only real “meathead” lol know what you’ve accomplished...I’ve deadlifted 500 at 160..but 900 plus your a god amongst men fucking titanium spine
I'm sorry, but that's blatantly incorrect. If you actually think someone like George Leeman is just Pete with just 100 pounds of fat tacked on, then that's your prerogative, but not one that anyone in the powerlifting community would agree with. The people in the 900+ club that weigh 80-100 pounds more than Pete are 'obese' in the same way that every single serious strongman competitor is 'obese'. There is a tremendous advantage to having an excess of bodyfat when you are going for pure strength, and that is without even going into the leverage and other mechanical factors influenced by weight behind a DL. Go look at 77kg olympic lifters and compare them with the heaviest class...once you start nearing the natural limits for strength and size, the amount of fat you need to continue making progress rises almost exponentially compared to the amount of strength you want to put on.
+jim jones jesus man, reading comprehension. where did i claim that fat alone would make you lift more? having a heavier bf helps tremendously in the strength building stage, which is why all the record holders and strongmen are 'fat'.
+jim jones The ones holding 100 pounds also have more muscle. It's easier gaining muscle and strenght with a higher bf. The body is just more comfortable at higher bf. Not saying obese or fat, but higher than 10-12
Never seen Pete do sumo, crazy times we live in. The directing could have been a little bit more on point, because when he is talking about feet placement or lat engagement the camera is pointed at his knees, quads or something like that, for example. Also it seems a little too focused on only one body part, when he is demonstrating the whole pull. Those are just my 2 cents.
+areMiller Lol what makes it incorrect? why does everyone think technique is always so black and white? unless you are a very low hip deadlifter, your knees are going to be slightly forward. The problem with getting your shins completely parallel behind the bar is that a lot of people become too upright in a squat position. When that happens you lose leverage over the bar. So pete is a little big of a higher hip puller, so his knees will be over the bar some to keep good leverage. That's why he says he pulls his hips through early, so the bar doesn't smash his knees. This allows a good bar path.
green screen washer and dryer next time
My favorite powerlifter
Pete is definetly my favourite powerlifter, would love to see more videos of him!
Pete is my favorite animal athlete! Awesome video!
pete smashing that deadlift in the intro was serious!
should've played lil jon in the back and have the washer and dryer watching over him. haha
Pete and KK have the most insane conventional deadlift ! in my opinion of course :)
met this dude at a meet in wv, genuinely nice guy. hell of a lifter
Yeah from what I've seen of him he seems real cool.
@@adamg6284 he's extremely religious. He is how Jesus would be if he deadlifted.
Great video! One good takeaway from this is rotating my elbows. I wish I would have seen this video earlier - I just got from my deadlift session.
+Gus Castro It helped me tremendously
Holy shit that neck is fucking huge!
Who chose these camera angles? He's showing stuff and they're zoomed in on some random angle.
Pete doing sumo, strange view :P
awesome vid. Pete is really calm and focused making I'm a very good teacher I think.
Good to see my boy finally doing some tutorials
This is awesome!! getting tips from the best, thanks Animal and Pete!!
I've always been self conscious about wearing shorts because I have calves like Pete. Obviously skinny calves don't mean you are weak. Awesome video.
we need a vid of Pete going grocery shopping.
Have you watched his food critic TH-cam videos? That cracks me up!
+Lucas Chaudhry and then sumo deadlifting the shopping bags after
Lucas Chaudhry you can watch that. Animal shoot Pete going grocery shopping on “Big on a Budget”

Pete is not an animal athlete...he IS the Animal.
Beast mode engaged
Pete trying to teach sumo haha! "You can tell I dont do it that often" cracked up lmao
Pete, do you train your neck separately with a neck harness or neck machine? Or is the size of your neck due in part by deadlifting?
Phil G Hos is most likely from years of deadlifting but training neck is great.
snap action at 3:18
+Steven Bishop His knees poppin proably
Again at 4:29😂😂😂
its crazy how he is not that big but deadlifts a shit ton
Thats light as shit for someone pulling 900+, most other guys that hit his numbers are 80-100 pounds heavier

That Ohio State Flag!!
Ur knees and shins r forward.. Ur saying don't do this so this doesn't happen then u proceed to do it incorrectly..
+areMiller yeah, please tell the guy who deadlifts nearly 900lbs that he pulls incorrectly :D
+Kris Tonev its incorrect according to most and himself.. No taking away from his strength. . didn't say he was weak.. look at ant hawth..spot on

Lol don't tell one of the strongest deadlifters in the world that he has incorrect form
