I have been searching for what would be my first Harley and after seeing you review recently, I took an Electra Glide Standard out for a test ride today and laid down the deposit! Hopefully will be picking it up and be cruising by next weekend. Thanks again for another great review.
The road king has the 3" travel rear shocks, where as the EGS and SGS has 2" travel rear shocks. In the US, the best deal if you can find it is the FLHTP, which is the police bike. It's like the EGS, but has the 3" shocks, 114 engine and RDRS and it's maybe 1000 more. The only way to get one is if a Department doesn't buy it, which happens. Then a civilian can purchase it.
Good points. I figured the Road King had longer shocks. That’s a reason I’d choose one over this FLHT. The updated police models with the 114 are definitely the way to go for a value package.
Just what Harley needed to release for us who just want a solid, no fancy electronic gizmos tourer. It's just like the big brother of my 2019 Sportglide. Simple & practical. Best Harley I have ever owned.👍
Just settled on my 19 flht and im beyond excited about it especially coming from a 48. Tourer was always on the radar. Electra glide standard & low rider S are the picks this year. Great review mate 👍
*Jealous* I'm around the same height. You can sit a little further back on the solo seat on the EG than the Road King's twin in stock form - but adding the Harley 'extended reach' saddle on either would make them both equally very comfortable.
I am so stoked , I'll be picking up my 2019 Electra Glide Standard in 2 days. I got to throw this out there to Mountainview Harleydavison in Chilliwack B.C. they help me to make this possible . Thank You .
Bought my 2019 last August, enjoyed your comments. Use mine for day riding trips with aftermarket accessories including hammock seat, rider backrest, and chopped tour pack. Videos of it on my channel.
This is only $4000 less than a Street Glide Special in Australia? In the US the Std is $18,999 and the Special is $27,699. Something is off. Seems like the Standard is far more expensive than it should be.
Nice review I think for me if I am going to not have a radio I would rather ride a Road King. The cost of this bike should be cheaper than it is if they want to sell lots of them nice looking bike.

Torn between this and a Road King. I see the ups and downs of both models.

I love mine!! Just ordered my aftermarket radio! Thanks to fathead cycles!!! Half the price of Harley radios.
What radio have you chosen?
@@jordipi7652 I think they use a Sony.
Another great review, thanks again.
Hey David, I am looking at getting a Road King. I am 6'4", would this EG Standard suit me better?
*Jealous*
