John Deere Autonomous Tractor Explained

  • John Deere Autonomous Tractor Vs a Tesla. Believe it or not, John Deere just took a lot of spotlight at CES 2022 with their Fully Autonomous Tractor. The interesting part is that this is actually the result of nearly 20 years of automation that Deere was already bringing to a farm.
    We had an exclusive interview with their leadership team months ago where we discussed how this tractor is so smart.

    The only way this interview was secured was by agreeing not to ask any challenging questions. 👀
    John Deere has issues with the level of integration in their equipment and the lack of repairability ; monopolistic practices to name a few.

    • @Pocketnow
      @Pocketnow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because Tesla does a better job, right? The topic was the tractor. I doubt a farmer or let alone a standard technician would understand how to fix a stereo camera system. You’re missing the point of the video.

    • @lekudos
      @lekudos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@Pocketnow the point of the video is clear. It’s actually a very informative and well put together piece. Thank you for it.
      But when you’re dealing with a corporation that has such a poor reputation, I’m sure it’s no great surprise that people call you out for it.
      John Deere has used the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to prevent user repairs. A farmer can’t opt out of their subscription service even if he she wanted to and have to ‘jailbreak’ their tractors with pirated software. iPhones are one thing, but peoples livelihoods… well…
      10,000 people walked out on strike just a few months ago over conditions at John Deere.
      Every time I read a story about John Deere, it just seems as if they’re not on the side of farmers at all. Just another tech firm.
      Anyway, thank you for another great video, but it came across like a little bit of an infomercial about John Deere rather than a piece about tractors in farming specifically.

      YOU ARE SO SO WRONG JAIME!
      There's a huge struggle about this, how these machines are black boxes, without need, that the "owners" can't touch. It's ridiculous to be at the mercy of a service somewhere at the cloud, farmers are becoming "hackers" to be able to properly use these machines.

    @pocketnow The technology is fascinating and thank you for that. But this conversation had to have some mention of right to repair. You could ask them politely and they can respond from the script. But ignoring it completely makes it look like infomercial and not coverage/report. Telling everyone in the comments they are missing the point isn't helping as well. Please listen.

Like I said I live in NC and there r farms all around me so I really enjoyed this and I get the need. I knew that John Deere had Tech in their tractors 🚜 but I didn't know they were doing this. I knew they had hands free but didn't even think about autonomous driving. This will help so many farmers in so many ways. 👏🙌🔥❤💯
