I love that instead of having Po lose weight, he remains himself both physically & spiritually. The only thing that changed was his love for himself, teaching the audience to not be ashamed of who they are or look, and that they are enough as they are. Anyone is capable of becoming who they want through effort & self-confidence. "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it." Oogway knew he was setting the stage for Lord Shen. You HAVE to watch Kung Fu Panda 2, it's incredible.
The scene where Tai Lung escapes the prision is the best thing I've ever seen in any action movie. The scene where he's suspended in the air for a few seconds before the arrows fall? Holy shit that changed how I viewed 3D animation when I was a kid
I did kung-fu for years and I love how all the animal side characters are actual animal styles used in kung-fu. Tiger, crane, monkey, snake and yes even the praying mantis.
another fun little thing I loved was the scene of Mantis telling Po how it was hard to find his pressure points while doing his accupunture, and later on when Po is fighting Tai- Long, same thing happens with his pressure point jabs doing nothing but tickling Po. that was some good foreshadowing/nod to the scenes
I remember seeing Kung Fu Panda the seconds weekend it came out. Its such a great movie and it will always be special to me because I saw it on Fathers Day with my family. Simpler times.
He's one of the best parts of the cast, no doubt, but god *damn,* Dreamworks' actual teams knock it outta the park. Honestly, Dreamworks is far better than Disney in my eyes, all-star casts be damned.

I just love the 3 movies over all, like a lot of people say that the third movie wasn't quite up there as the other two, but the 3 movies really help to build up Po's character in my opinion (No spoilers) because in a way it really helps Po to kinda come to terms with so many aspects of himself, his destiny, his past and who he is at the end of the trilogy i love these three movies way too much
Honestly my favorite is the second. Might just be because the villain is kinda badass, but I also feel like the depth added to Po’s character and the *FEELS* are very well done
I remember seeing this in theaters with my sister, her boyfriend, and our friend Will... I don't know why but I absolutely lost my shit during the acupuncture scene. I could not stop laughing. to the point where I was crying. It's never done that to me again, but I lost it. What a great experience
It's interesting how you talk so much about inner peace, and the difference between master Shi-Fu and master Ugway. Especially since you haven't seen the second movie: it's a central theme in it. Frankly, the first one is a masterpiece, but the second one might be, unbelievably, even better. Yeah, it's like the empire strikes back of the series, you don't know how they can do better, and they do. Well, that's subjective obviously. Some might prefer the first one, with perfectly good reasons. One of the reasons might be nostalgia: it started with it, and any sequel following will just re-heat the original flame. Right? No, in some cases they can add their own ingredients to make it even better, though it's rare. Kinda like Shrek 1 and 2: objectively, the finale of Shrek 2 is even better than the first movie finale, and yet, I can understand why one could prefer Shrek 1. Tl;dr: watch the second movie. It is really worth it if you loved the first one.
I really like that Oogway talked about the actions we take to prevent something, inevitably leads to it happening. Tai Lung was told of the darkness in him and shunned from being the Dragon Warrior and this led him down the path of evil. Shifu sent the messenger duck to warm the guards of Tai Lungs escape and it was his feather that helped Tai Lung break free. Masterful storytelling.
I remember getting kung fu panda on DVD for my 8th birthday, and rewatching it on a daily basis for months. Glad to see it still holds up, now I really want to go dig for that DVD and have a little nostalgia trip
For some reason it took me until just this year, at age 30, to finally watch Kung Fu Panda. I have absolutely no nostalgic childhood attachment to it, my jaded and cynical adult brain is the only lens I've ever seen it through... and I think it's absolutely great. I definitely foresee it becoming a comfort movie for me. Jack Black is just the best. I've watched the 2nd and 3rd ones and I enjoyed them too, but that first one is just mmm chef's kiss.

What I just realised in the first movie shifu taught po how to become a dragon warrior by using his speciality which is food, in the 3rd movie po taught all the other pandas with their own specialities
I think it's also cool to mention, at the end, when pooh is fighting, his style of fighting is essentially a mix of the rest of the furious 5 together :> You've absolutely have to review the second one, I'd say I like it even more than the first movie
