      in HD , where there was no reporting, players like that were visited by Onagers. I've done it a couple of times in DE, Last time someone built their market where it blocked mine. It's like some of these players do not understand interacting with other people at all.

    I had someone throw a fit when i set up a dock on a pond in their territory in black forest. They told me to delete it and i just ignored them. They raged and said here take all my resources. they deleted their whole base and left the match.

    Re "Alt+F4" a game I played actually disabled Alt+F4 but you could still tab alt of course.
    They also introduced a cooldown thing.
    But guess what people do then. Disconnect the internet, end process etc.

    I don't think it would be a problem for matchmaking if some similarly rated players could never meet one another, as the player population as a whole would still remain very connected, ensuring a common rating scale. There would be more specialist players, though - e.g., people who achieve 1600 with a particular civ on a particular map, while being only 1200 with random civ on random map. But that is OK!
    Thanks for the video, anyway. I agree with everything.

  • @Dragonette666
    @Dragonette666 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    they should add a player block feature. Right now you can only block their chat. As far as "some people will block players that beat them" that's fine. Once they block enough people they will effectively remove themselves from the community which isn't a bad thing.

    A bit of taunt as a winner is not a big deal, just a bit of salt on the wound. What are things that I think are ok if you don't feel like you should give the gg.
    1. -11
    2. -105
    3. Easy
    4. git gud
    5 *team game special* Noah's ark couldn't carry you guys
    Any of those as a single line an isolation are not a big deal, and if the other person for example was a lamer, did several pause, or is not surrendering, then I find perfectly valid to drop any of those. If you are playing with a friend, it is also ok to taunt... If you are in an all-in strat and want to add a bit of chaos in his gameplay because you know if he keeps a cool head will beat you, then maybe is also ok to taunt.
    I feel abuse taunt is a sign of toxicity, but on the other side you don't need to be the perfect gentleman that every game will be a GLHF>GG, some times it adds to the fun just to throw that little spark that will give drama
    I think a good chad will keep a ratio of >9GGs for every trashtalk

      @ilikechocolate3741 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      if you have to rely on a taunt for your all in strat to work out hoping to tilt your enemy, thats very toxic and immature.
      you should be able to win with your strat solely

      @@ilikechocolate3741 Even chest players will act boring, or do other gestures to try to add stress to the opponent. Pocker is 50% knowing the math 50% reading other people and know how to taunt by giving the right queues....
      This is not a face to face game, doing a taunt will take APM as you need to open that chat box and actually type. And abuse of taunt is indeed toxic, but you are wrong if you think in the art of war only an honorable fight is a good fight.

    Sometimes I think it's all part of the game to make it difficult for your opponent to kill you. Including walling up villagers etc.
    I guess if it happens too often then it's annoying. But until they use standard victory conditions, why should you be penalised for playing to the game rules of conquest?

    • @Dawnrim
      @Dawnrim  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I see what you’re saying, and to be clear - running villagers and walling them up in a team games to try to rebuild to get back into the fight later is totally a legit strategy. In 1v1s though, there are situations where the game is very much unwinnable and walling the few remaining villagers in a corner accomplishes nothing but stalling out the inevitable. Like I mentioned, some people enjoy that - both sides of that - both I think those are the minority.

    I once had a game where my opponent was shit taling me from the start and making rude jokes about me once the game started to tilt in his favor.
    I then walled in all my villagers in all corners of the map to then leave for the restroom and let him play there on his own for another 12min.
    Is that also bad behaviour or just a justified revenge on his behaviour?

    • @Dawnrim
      @Dawnrim  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh. I didn't realize there was potential to turn this into an AITAH section. My take is the best approach is always to be the bigger person and either ignore or counter with something in the chat yourself - preferably some coup de grace one liner that blows him out of the water. If you can't come up with something really good - better to be quiet though. Best of all is of course to actually win the game, but that is obviously not always possible. If you slap a layer of carefree 'I'm elevated above your petty trash' on top of a win, like telling him wp or something, just to rub in how much better of a person you are, I give points for that. Now, in the situation where you're truly frustrated and unable to win - I wouldn't call you a big BMer for walling your villagers in. I'm just doubting how much of a revenge it really is. I think your opponent can feel your frustration through your actions and he knows he's grinding your nerves with his behavior if you 'retaliate' like that. I think you're feeding into his behavior more so than taking revenge. Revenge is best served with an army in his base, but second best is just a 'gg' as if you didn't even read what he wrote, and then alt+f4. Leave him wondering if you even know English (or whatever language he insulted you in).

      @@Dawnrim Yeah, I would not give a "gg" in such a case.

      @@EliasHasle Thanks. I expected there would be differing view on the tempo. I think I am particularly slow in this one - it was kind of an intentional experiment, so to get feedback on it is great. I will definitely not cut away pauses in edit, I'm not a fan of that style either. While there's room to clean up and shorten some pauses, I'll keep breathing :)

    I don't agree with your point of view on map dodging. Keep in mind that most people playing AoE are grown adults who only have a limited number of hours to play the game after work/study, so forcing them to play maps they don't enjoy is not the right thing to do in my opinion.
    Furthermore, statistically most players want to play Arabia, while a small minority want to play hybrid maps, so it's only right that you should have to wait a bit longer to find another player who wants to play non-arabia instead of forcing the entire rest of community to play these maps.

    • @Dawnrim
      @Dawnrim  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I see that side of things. As one of those people you’re describing with limited time between other obligations, I do value low queue times and getting a game within a reasonable time higher than the exact game settings though, but I realize people have differing priorities. If map pick was implemented (bans available was # of maps in pool minus one, allowing players to pick the map to play) I guess those of us who prioritize queue time over specific settings could just leave everything open and make sure everyone is a potential match partner. That isn’t the current system though, and map dodging is in effect individual players force implement that system over the heads of both potential opponent and devs. I can only imagine the reason the developers has imposed a limit on the bans is that they fear players will not realize the connection between banning maps and their increased queue times, be unsatisfied with the experience due to the wait and the player base will shrink as a result. I don’t have any way to confirm this assumption, but again that is the only good/passable reason I can imagine. If the is not the reason though, and instead it’s some conviction among the devs that everyone should be forced to play a variety of maps against their will, then I absolutely agree that is not a good policy for customer satisfaction, and unlimited bans should be introduced.
