This is true. I’m American and my good friend Cameron is literally the ginger haired version of this guy he is married and as of 2 years ago a father, and graduated with a degree in game development (character and map design).
Elijah has a Belle Delphine bath water keyboard, a collection of Funko Pop, a collection of Amiibo, AND he’s married? Someone do a profile on her, because she’s the real saint in all of this.
No, no, no, no. He now has 2, TWO, ONE PLUS ONE bath water keyboards. AND a mouse pad. Plus just every single thing in that entire apartment / room there we saw.
The use of silly horns has been the single best running gag of recent videos. Never overdone, but when it's used it's goddamn perfect comedic timing. Give that editor a raise!
I dunno. I was told the same thing about my LEGOs, yet their value rise YTY is bigger than my mortgage interest rates. I get what he is saying, but debt is a financial tool - if your income is stable and you have a pillow, it may be beneficial to keep it while spending your regular money on things that increase in price faster.
In Brazil we have a saying that goes "Em casa de ferreiro, o espeto é de pau", that translates to "In a blacksmith's home, the skewer is made of wood". The meaning behind it is that someone might be excellent at their job (blacksmith makes stuff out of metal all day long), but when they're home they leave their skill at the door (blacksmith using wooden utensils). Elijah is the perfect representation of that saying. 😂
Bruh, Elijah is just the personality that keeps on giving, by far one of my favorite hosts, rivaling Luke which is like the jankmaster version of Elijah
The biggest MVP in all of this is his wife...tolerating a Houston level of computing, collectibles worth a house, in debt ...He must be a charmer :D :D :D
Linus, Elijah has a Funko Pop problem, and he doesn't even know how bad it is. (Also, home insurance will not give him ANYWHERE NEAR what he thinks his collection is worth. They're going to site MSRP... maybe. He needs special insurance for his collection.) I propose you make Elijah write a 1,000 word essay on the history of the Beany Baby craze, including what the market valuation of most of those are now.
a lot of insurance has limits on how much you can claim in different categories of items. doesnt matter if his toys are worth 200k, he will get like $600 limit. this obviously differs between insurers and levels of insurance. source: been through it.
the mini fridge is going to draw more power than a big kitchen fridge including a freezer and on top of that it probably has an annoying fan and wont properly chill your beverages / need forever. For context: these cheap type of mini fridge usually use thermoelectic cooling (peltier element). Common is 12V 5A, so it´s always going to consume 60W (usually no thermostat) and the efficiency is trash (CoP < 0.5)
"How do we know if Linus is genuine?" *Elijah tears into him about price and Linus's pool* Seriously, banter like this makes me happy. Linus could easily keep "yes man" around him but doesn't. Would rather have people who are driven about what they do here than someone who agrees with him on everything. paints a good picture to me.
One of the signs of becoming an adult is understanding not to unnecessarily judge other people's lifestyles. Elijah is married and does not appear to be in financial hardship from his collecting. I am convinced that he's fine.
The irony of Elijah telling people not to break his house. Also the "you'd spend four year developing it and call it the keyboard" burn was AWESOME! XD
After watching this and then going through quite a bit of the comment section, I can only say one thing: There are a TON of angry, miserable 'responsible' adults out there. Just because you all were forced to give up your fun hobbies when you supposedly grew up and got married, had kids (yadda yadda yadda) doesn't mean everyone needs to do the whole 2.5 kids, modest home, white picket fence, minivan lifestyle. Some of us can still live our lives the way we did in our teens and be perfectly responsible. Been doing it that way myself for 40+ years (and by that, I mean since I was 16). Even my most anal-retentive (overly responsible) friends have collections that would make many people say "Holy shit!! That's off the chain!", but they still dig it. Carry on, Elijah! Never change!
Out of everything Ellijah has done and everything I know about him I've never been more disappointed in him than with this new discovery that he collects Funko Pops.

19:54, I once created a Periodic Table of Elements Selector so that would highlight the text of selected elements with glow effects and I gave it the ability to dynamically create multiple groups. I did this so that I could create a GUI based database query generator, that would allow us to look for substances that contain certain elements within certain ranges and to be able to exclude other elements within certain ranges. We used green glowing text for elements we wanted within the results and red glowing text for elements we wanted to exclude. Once I made it, I would regularly find my mentor on the project playing with it just to draw different pictures.

I was wondering if it was a generational thing with the collectibles, but people have been doing it for a long time. I've a large collection of cassettes/cds/dvd's/books, but I don't consider them as the same thing since were all bought for the purpose of being opened and used. I can't even recall a product that I've bought some special edition of, if it was more expensive without some performance increase. Maybe some collectors editions of Heinlein, Tolkien, Asimov, Gibson series of books that are nicely bound, but even those were just to fill in a few gaps.
I don't think he's actually aware... He doesn't even have proper insurance for his pop collection. And yes I understand that they're collectors item that will appreciate with time, but that's an If. And the problem is his current debt and how much that's gonna increase simultaneously year on year with interests and all. I am starting a conspiracy that Belle Delphine IS his wife. I don't see how this house makes any sense otherwise.
The use of silly horns has been the single best running gag of recent videos. Never overdone, but when it's used it's goddamn perfect comedic timing. Give that editor a raise!
"you should not own funko pops and debt" has got to be my favourite quote from linus ever.
The version I know is "The cobbler's children go barefoot." 😉

Just because you all were forced to give up your fun hobbies when you supposedly grew up and got married, had kids (yadda yadda yadda) doesn't mean everyone needs to do the whole 2.5 kids, modest home, white picket fence, minivan lifestyle. Some of us can still live our lives the way we did in our teens and be perfectly responsible. Been doing it that way myself for 40+ years (and by that, I mean since I was 16).
