10:20 that strap hanging there is the ground strap/wire. For everyone out there, don't make my mistake. I had my pump go bad in freezing weather. On top of which I was traveling to a dif state. So I did all the work in AutoZone parking lot laying in the snow and freezing weather. So before putting truck bed back on and reinstalling, of course I'd test it. But didn't work and I went thru about 4 brand new pumps, including having to rewire a couple. It was super bowl Sunday and I was late, I was fkn pissed- of all days it had to be. Finally a guy passing by asked me "if I had the ground connected" to the bed frame or panel by gas nozzle. Nope. Totally didn't realize I needed it connected. I thought it was for electrical surge protector. Started right up. Just a simple wire coming from an area I didn't think important caused me so much grief. So don't forget about it and be sure to connect the ground wire. In Silverado the wire that comes by the gas inlet tube.
I'm 68 and I went to Harbor Frieght and got a chain hoist, load leveller and chains and used them to lift the bed off. I had to to cut the tops of the bed bolts with a grinder, but they are supposed to be replaced even if you can screw them out. I put a landscape time across two joists in my garage to mount the hoist.
I've done the tilt method on my 2000 works great! I replaced the fuel regulator as well just because I'm doing the pump for optimum performance. Regulator replacement made a difference as well.
I’ve seen 4 videos so far ( I’ve done four trucks) three bed removal and one drip tank. Removing bed is a lot easier n better because you get to check all your fuel/ brake lines, pressure wash the frame, paint if need to, and lubricate as well. But my reason for my text is that not one video says to disconnect your battery cables ( not good), years back two men were replacing a fuel pump and did not disconnect their battery, explosion followed when a hot wire from a taillight made a spark and sent one to hospital the other one injured as well. Burned n the vehicle was totaled plus damage to the garage.
Liffting the bed is a good method especially if there is full tank of gas the issue with this is the retainer that hold the fuel pump in the tank it's very difficult to compress the new gasket seal because you can't get enough down ward pressue on the retainer to get it in postion.
Don,t know if I,d jack up the box by lifting on the wheel well though . This can be a weak spot ,as well as corrosion wise ? Maybe install , all ,the bed bolts too .
It's great to see the group taking off so well . Cal tracks work great. Just make sure you weld the axle tubes to the pumpkin. I found out the hard way. Lol
Phil Betthauser thanks for the tip, I wouldn’t have thought of that, probably good to weld the tubes even before I get the Caltracs. Thanks for being a part of the group too!
Did this to my truck also, 2 welded nuts spun in circles ,so I used 2 - 6 inch long drills 1/8 inch & 1/4 drilled next to the bolt washer on a 30 degree angle, toward center of bolt inside of frame, then I stuck a 1/4 bolt through frame and was able to remove bolt without nut spinning, reverse this procedure to install and nut plate is re - useable. "Spark free procedure"
That panel is a power distribution block. 1 plug comes from the front of the truck, then each tail light module and the trailer plug each plug into it to get their power.
I need help with this. I have a Chevy Colorado 2015 driver a while it cut off but when they get cool off, it’ll start back up again. Could it be the fuel pump?

😮😊
Thankyou. I am 68 and this will be a bunch easier than dropping the tank.

It's so nice to be able to get this done in a timely fashion without asking someone to help you lift the bed.
Works for me. Lifted the bed in about 30 minutes.

Cherry picker works well also.

Brilliant! I'm going to try this on my ford.
What year was this done on?
The truck is a 2000 model year
How long do you think with this method would it take to replace the pump from start to finish
Will this method work on a dodge ram 1500

@@LowbuckLS I spun the pumpkin on the axle tubes on a 10 bolt in a f body. It did a bit of damage lol.
I look forward to seeing the group grow 👍
Phil Betthauser yeah I can see how that could make a mess I’ll probably be welding those up soon

What’s the sensor to the left of the filler neck?
What are those to connectors you disconnected on the rear of the truck
Power to tail lights.
