Just was able to replace my fuel pump in a couple hours by myself THANKS TO THIS VIDEO. Thank you man such a great video. Shop wanted $1400 to do it. Got an ACdelco pump online and knocked it out! 💪
Man you are a savior brotha!! No experience whatsoever with fuel pumps and shop wanted $1200 dollars in labor without parts included and thanks to this video I have successfully changed my own fuel pump and saved over $1200 doing it myself following this video step for step is all you need! Thanks man you are the man!!!
Hey Eric, Props to you. My Silverado wouldn't fire yesterday, and I suspected the fuel pump. After a couple tests it was pretty much the only thing it could have been. Looked up changing a 2001 Silverado fuel pump, watched your video once, bought a new pump and have my truck running this evening. Thanks much!!!!!!!!!
You make it look easy ! I've done my fuel pump once already by dropping the tank which was a pain. This time I think I'm gonna raise the bed, which seemed like a big deal before, but now it looks much more manageable, thanks to you. Very cool. 👍👍👍
I know this is a year old but we found your video today and were able to follow your step by step successfully. This saved us hundreds of dollars! Thank you for taking the time to post this! Liked and subscribed!
lifesaver for sure!!! I pin pointed my fuel pump was bad and was dreading doing it. but thanks to you I was able to do the job in about 2 hours! saved me money and makes me feel better knowing that I did the job not some stranger! thanks!
We just switched my sons fuel pump with this video. Thank you for the informative video. I usually take the bed completely off but the bed was loaded down. This is a great way to do it without completely removing the bed. Thanks again
Was going to cut a hole in my bed until I saw this video. I had the advantage of having a tractor with a front end loader to lift the drivers side of the bed, but the process was much easier than I had anticipated. Other than one of the fuel line clips being damaged, and having to run around town to find replacement clips (Napa), it took less than 2 hours. THANKS!!!
Was dropping the tank and one strap bolt was stripped and now have to lift the bed up or off and you saved my bacon with this video. Hats off to you my man...
Completely filled my tank 6 hrs before my pump wetn out... ugh. But this is the BEST Fuel pump replacmenet video ive seen. Great views, great light, great information, great resoluation. Awesome!!
Bro u are the man. Ty so much! Best vid/tutorial on TH-cam!! I was stressed all week about doing this today but your video completely removed my anxiety!! Thx a mil!!!!!!
Thank you so much! I'm closing on a house on Tuesday, and my pump went out last night (saturday). No mechanics open on Sunday and I have to have my truck this week. You saved me, and you also saved me $700 ( I would've had to have it towed plus labor). You're the best, man!
I went in with only the knowledge from this video and still swapped the fuel pump on my 99 Silverado in 2 hours. Thanks so much for this video. My tank was three quarters full and I had no interest in dropping it.
Bro you are a real one! My fuel level bounces so Im bout to do this this weekend and you gave a great explanation with the camera angles that I can ACTUALLY understand. Thank you👍
Great video. I don't have many tools like a lift or even a jack and you explained how to complete this task without those items which is great. I have what I think is an intermittent fuel pump on my 2000 Sierra, and after watching I feel a little more confident about doing it myself instead of paying the $600-$800 my mechanic wants to do the job. If I decide to do it myself I will report back if I'm successful. Once again, great video. Glad to have guys like you on TH-cam.
Hands down, Best trick to replacing a fuel pump without dropping the bed. Ended up having to cut one of my bed bolts because of living in the rust belt. Still beats dropping the tank. Thank you
I appreciate the video , only took me 45 minutes to switch out the fuel pump. Bed was a little heavier because of the bed cover but it eventually got it in the air and propped up haha.
Thanks for being nice enough to post the video. This could be done on the side of the road if you have a few tools. Good method for people who may not have anyone to help.
Well done video. Though I've done this job before, I'm always looking to see how others have done it and to refresh my brain on all the steps. Love the stepside Silverado too! At 174k miles it still has a lot of life left. A few more fuel pump changes too!😊
brotha thank you for this video. everyone said I need to drop the tank and blah blah blah, but I did exactly. what you did with the bed and voila. easy peasy, a buddy of mine came over helped me out n we got it done.
Awesome video. Just got my son a 2001 for his first vehicle and it needs a few fixes, the fuel pump being one of them. Figured the truck would be a great learning experience for him and I to learn and work together on, and your video is exactly the step by step guide we needed. Thanks so much!!
Eric followed your step by step on my 2002 Chevy Silv 1500HD CrewCab 4x4 fuel pump replacement. It went so smooth, thanks brother for the tips. SEMPER FI!!!
would your truck just crank start an stall when you figured it was the pump I also have a 1500hd an just ran into this problem today never had any problems prior starting they truck
Thx Eric for your detailed step by step instructions and the comments about how the new fuel pump electrical connections have changed because even when I ordered the “matching” fuel pump replacement for my truck I got the wrong one and if I hadn’t seen this I would have installed the wrong pump and wasted a bunch of time and money. Thx 👍
I'm currently in the process, today i removed the bed bolts without an impact. A good breaker bar and some WD-40 and they come right off. Make sure to use a long extension so you have more room to swing the breaker bar.
This was very helpful thanks! The fuel pump we installed needed some re-wiring for a different connector type but this vid made the process a breeze (relatively speaking)
The trick to those fuel line connectors in the middle is to squeeze the flat sections on the end of the plastic. If they haven't become too brittle and break, then the plastic will deform in the right direction and far enough to just pull the lines off the pump. They're super-easy! Terrific video. Very well described with clear instructions. I liked the close-ups and I would've also appreciated a few more "big picture" shots, but that probably would've required running two cameras. Really good job on what you did.
Bro thank you!!! I was hesitant to do it myself cause i was always told “drop the tank” def gonna do this tomorrow truck left my started 45 mins from home 🙃
Gee, yet another Eric who clearly explains how to do car repairs. OK, I'll sub, nice job! I like the way you left one side partially bolted, so the bed can't shift and let the jack stand tip over.
Great video. I am 4 hours into my fuel pump replacement and here are some of my obstacles. I had a aluminum step attached to the frame and bed that had to be disconnected at the frame. BUT the biggie was I have a Bed Bolt on Driver side in the back and in line with the spare that will not come out. It broke loose and threaded out about 1.25" like all the others BUT it now just spins. It will not go back in and will not go back out. I am going to have to cut through the bolt with a reciprocating saw. Even jacking up the bed and putting pressure on the head of the bolt had no effect. APPARENTLY whatever these bolts thread into can fail or detach...not good. So I will be dropping the Spare tire to make room and use my Hercules cordless saw to cut the bolt. This is probably why so many bolts are missing on a lot of fuel pump videos I have been watching. My 2002 truck is 99 percent rust free and had an easy life before it came to me 2 years ago.
Thank you for the video if was very useful. My brother and I had to change his fuel pump on the side of the highway. This video was very detailed and helped us alot.👍
Great Video. Not sure where you live but my truck is in New England. Extra tools and process needed. Blow off all the chunks of rust on the frame not to get in mouth and eyes. Due to the rusted bolts, Tools you will also need is a breaker bar, 3 foot pipe for leverage lots of penetrating oil. When the bolt wont budge and the fasting nut spins you will need to get out the oxygen and acetylene and blow off the heads of the bolts. Only 2 out of 8 needed that done.
Nice video my truck all the sudden wouldn’t start so I bought starting fluid and the spark tester kit sprayed some starting fluid in the filter and it started up so I guess my fuel pump is bad
Beyond Expectations! I will need to do this job..was lucky to make it home,my fuel pump so so weak and fuel guge had not worked for years..i have owned this truck over 20 years...Question will i need to buy a new electric connector that plugs into pump...yours was modified once you said because connector used a different style...other than that those 3 fuel connections may be troublesome for me(hopefully not to much)...Again this was a ridiculously good video! Thanks for making it...Greatly Appreciated..😊😊😊
Good video bro, I'm about to do this for the 3rd time... think I'm just gona drop the tank. Literally 2 bolts takes about 30 min. My 3rd time cause ran it outa gas during winter a couple years ago warming it up... I got the cheap one, lesson learned. Spend the $ on a delphi so you won't be doin it agin in a couple years.
I am getting closer and closer to pin pointing that my issue im having is my fuel pump and I was dreading dropping the tank but this step by step video was so clear that it should be really easy for me to do thank you. And I hope this fixes my problem
Excellent video man, did this by myself with no issues other than one of the rusty 18mm bolts on the frame met it’s demise via a cutoff wheel 😂 I’m buying you a beer if our paths cross
Nice video, while you have the box lifted, replace the rear brakeline that runs over the gastank, you will be happy you did - also check all wiring and repair as req’d
I have a 2000 chevy silvedao 1500 5.3 liter. My question is. Is it the same method for taking of the bed on a 2000 chevy silverado. And great video by the way. I plan on replacing my fuel pump and this video makes it so I am comfortable doing it by myself. Thank you.
Appreciate the video. I think my fuel pump just went out yesterday. I got it at a shop in town. They wasn’t open yesterday Sunday. I wonder what the average price to have it replaced I will find out today. I reckon appreciate the video.
