    Let me tell you my friend your video is loaded with details and information starting with how you manage to manipulate your camera in tight spaces to show us a clear view of each part needed to be removed e.g. the ground cable where is attached, all the lines, Plastic connector etc.
    You really are in a higher level among others here on TH-cam with extreamly clear footage. Thank you For this masterpiece of do it yourself video.

    I was thinking ( on my old beat up work truck), just cut a square of the sheet metal ( bed liner) just above the pump. Then use self tapping screws and some sheet metal to overlap the square. God bless

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that is definitely an option that would work

    way easier to tilt the bed to remove the pump

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jason Baker never thought of that, that would be easier for sure.

    I seriously considered doing that on both of my trucks when I had to remove the beds to access them, it is acually not that difficult to do and the pump is right in front of you. GM seems to like building trucks around the most functional parts - no rad cap or drain petcock, distributor/wiring hidden in bell housing, crank position sensor buried etc.

    What size wrench do you need to take the bolts off of the frame of the car I mean the truck

    Hey man does your truck have a high stall ?, have you done any videos or do u no of any parameters need changing to accommodate a medium stall I’m thinking in Trans and Tcc pressure (apply ramp) may need tweaking?? Cheers

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jesse Kay I don’t have a high stall torque converter yet, was thinking of waiting until I had a 4L80e conversion done before buying one but we’ll see, it’s on my wish list for sure. Will have one sooner or later.

    Sometimes you just have to hate when everything is made of plastic. In some cases it lasts dang near forever, and others it becomes brittle and snaps. I guess you can probably just buy the cheapest fuel pump assembly there is if you plan to gut the pump out and install your own anyhow. I'm not sure what the quality of the off brand pumps, fuel sender's are, but for your application it's probably fine.
    Also yes, tilt or removing the bed is generally way easier than crawling under and dropping tank. If you have an engine hoist you can strap the 4 corners of the bed and lift it up with engine hoist really easy. Practically a one man deal with that, the only thing that can happen is bed can slide into the cab and may dent/scratch something, but another person helping or doing it carefully and it's not a problem.

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      silentbravo yep annoying to have to buy a whole new assembly due to brittle plastic. But yeah I just bought the cheapest fuel pump assembly I could find on Amazon because I won’t be using the pump from it anyways. Should be here tomorrow so I’ll work on putting it in on the weekend. And yeah next time I’ll try the bed tilt method, I don’t have an engine hoist yet but will need one at some point, don’t imagine this 5.3 will live forever

    what are you using to power your new pump? wiring in a new wire and relay that's triggered by the exiting power wire? hope your next vid covers that.

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Randy Richardson yes that my plan exactly, run some 10 gauge wire that’s switched by a relay controlled by the old fuel pump wiring.
