Because the city lacks tourist attractions, anyone who comes to Bengaluru where will you take them? Cubbon Park, another park? another park? How many parks??
@@SushanthEmpire52YT Yes exactly but what I've come across after searching is that there's no land available in Central Bengaluru, the government obviously won't be buying private land to build this, costly. They'll build wherever they have government land.

A raw unmanicured green forest, with walking paths, and the factory buildings converted into sports areas! The greenery will give fresh air, and great to do sports in a fresh environment
We already lost a huge playground that was there and plenty of trees around the same, in the process of the metro construction. Let's not do any more concrete construction in that place. Please preserve the mini forest, trees and the factory remains as it's and open the same to the public with minimal accessibility modifications
Awesome clips of NGEF land. Thanks for sharing.! Government should consider transforming the land into a modest, sustainable park instead of investing in the construction of an extravagant and pompous sky deck.
3:44 and 3:51 I didn't expect these points from you. The skyscrapers are nothing but ego measuring towers. Hardly they're useful beyond a certain height of around 10 floors.
A coalition of architects and urban designers have come together to keep this a public space. Can’t give too many details yet but the green is being preserved in totality with adaptive reuse of the existing 3 buildings is part of the current proposal. The site in reality is beyond beautiful- like something out of a movie. Believe me when I say it needs no intervention - there internal road network suffices as a walkway. Scarcely believe it’s in Bangalore. It is truly endearing to see the public rally behind a public project like this. Keep it up 👍 Also, slight correction- the site is 105 acres - a part has now been given to railway expansion
Why can't they build a sky deck but also a library inside it? They can make minor changes to that sky deck and add Library and Museum, both inside it. Those factory buildings don't need to be used at all, keep 1 or 2 standing and demolish rest of them to create small sets of ponds. The rest of the area will be intact.
A massive tree park with local biodiversity is ideal. Unfortunately only the highest budget project with handsome kickbacks will be selected by the politicians.
An Opera house would be fabulous. In other great cities like Moscow, Music scene is amazing there. They really really emphasize on their cultural heritage through opera, ballet etc. If Bangalore could do the same, to showcase its British Heritage, then it would be truly amazing.
both can be done and both have its pros and cons 1. Park and Museum could be good option but there is no guarantee that footfalls will be higher because without any unique thing or attraction people just don't want to visit a Museum or a regular park 2 . Its a good attraction project but chances of de-forestation is higher than last project but if its done would be good for commercial purposes
Contrarian view: Bengaluru does not actually have any large scale momuments / DESTINATIONs etc. I was once in the mood to go for a long drive at night. In Mumbai late night driving destination were aplenty (just go to any of the seafacing promenades) Delhi has India Gate (not as cool as promenades for sure) A sky deck type structure has the potential to become a destination and real landmark in Bengaluru which doesnt really have many of those. I fully agree that somehow the whole thing has to be done while minimizing damage to the existing forest and structures.
DKS really had me laughing! 🤣 As a community, we should advocate for implementing a Green:Cement ratio in all Tier 1/2/3 cities and towns. I believe this responsibility should be taken up not just by State Governments but also mandated by the Central Government. It's crucial that people realize the consequences of neglecting sustainable development, climate change, and the preservation of resources like fresh water and clean air.
Skydeck looks like something a 3D designer made in two days rather than something borne out of meticulous planning. Besides, there's no lack of malls and theaters around that area so it is better if they turn it into a convention hall or a park (without all the braindead camera restrictions that lalbah and cubbon park has).
If after the water crisis and drastic cutting of trees we still don't learn our lesson - nothing will stop us from destroying ourselves. I really hope this piece of land is untouched.
The park for sure, green coverage in bangalore is dwindling compared to the earlier days ,a stupid skydeck or whatever building that is being proposed will surely be a tourist attraction, no doubt, but at the cost of the remaining trees we have. A green space is way better than any stupid ideas being proposed for this land
0:46 skydeck sounds like a lackey wanna-be idea by an unimaginative architect with a scarcity mindset like the one who built the 3000cr sardar statue with poor tourism ROI. how about a novel architectural monument that hasn't been made before in the entire world, like Bjark Ingel's smoke ring machine, a park/garden that shames all French gardens, with a library besting the Washington DC one with books stacked sky high overseeing the green beauty, a museum that sells yearly passes at the entrance confusing users why anyone would need such a thing and then realising after 2 hours that it can't be finished in a year like national galley UK, gymnasium that inspires future olympians, diving pool with water clearer than life of pie movie, etc., just make it a global head turner and not something you'd want to check out once and then say "meh, we can check it once, but there isn't much to see for second time". and most important of all ROI to make it all back. if this doesn't increase the apt prices in the surrounding area by 10x it isn't good enough. and please pick the best architects starting with Namma Bengaluru's very own Shibani + Kamal. if no politician took cuts and all went to the architects, designers and contractors, it is possible.

Question is what gives the maximum cut? The tall structure or the public space/garden development. I think the choice is very clear, more the concrete move the commission. There could be another option, wait and do nothing will people around encroach it, take money then legalize those encroachments and have a good long vote back there. Sad but the modus operandi of politicians in Bangalore is visible for everyone to see.
Sky deck project is best. Demolish the factories and use that land to build the sky deck. The bottom of the sky deck should be a public theater, sports area, convention center etc with underground parking only so as to not compromise the green area. Some huts made of natural materials here and there for people to rest or for children to do arts and crafts would be needed. Overall the space can be turned into a green activity zone without compromising the green cover. Iconic buildings are giant tourist attractions which will increase the income of small businesses operating there. We cannot keep doing green spaces where there is no revenue generating activity that benefits people. That kind of balanced development is needed.
I'm not sure what the purpose of the skydeck would be. Bengaluru isn't a tall city. Most of the 4-5 story buildings ugly from above. The park + museum would be much nicer. I'm not an expert on skydecks but wouldn't a more central location (perhaps in CBD itself) make more sense for a skydeck?
