Pointless solutions leading to much worse conditions. Traffic is the biggest problem. Spending 4hrs on road to work everyday is a crime. Results in extreme stress and no time to take care of mental and physical health.

A city becomes developed when rich use public transport. A city which such huge population keeps on booking new cars without investment in public transport . Its obvious that then there would be congestion and deadlock. The funny thing is 99% of them dont realise that. Invest in public transport and make it look so better that people would love to use them and make sure walking paths are available that is comfortable for everyone. And guarantee you then situation will improve

One point which was highlight for me was there is no BBMP elections which has happened in last 4 years! Where is the political accountability?
Even if the elections happen, mayor has no power. There are no ward committee meetings happening as there are no corporators! Where will people go to complain? Local MLA has been given too much power. State cannot manage Bangalore centrally.
And why big ticket projects? Ensure the basic amenities like roads are smooth. The roads in Bangalore are really pathetic. If they have money to build useless sky deck, why not TenderSure which created quality roads and footpaths?
Both BJP and Congress are to blame here. There is no good alternative.

High quality analysis of the problems faced by Citizens of Bengaluru.I wish that to make Bengaluru a world class city in say twenty years there is a need to make a comprehensive plan about roads transport system flooding and water problems and parks library shopping malls and entertainment areas.A group consisting of eminent persons should be entrusted with the task of designing the plan. What is more important is the administrative and governance structure. The present system of wards and election system cannot deliver results.Barring a few all of them appear to be venal and not upto the mark.only people who have proven integrity, well qualified with urban planning and execution should be in command. No court should entertain complaints about acquisition of land as per plan. To ensure continuity there should be no election for twenty years.Persons like Mohandas Pai or Srinivasa Alavalli or a defence forces with proven record of building and maintaining a Cantonment area should be at helm of affairs for long tenure.

Because it’s the same case with all the major cities all around the world, except some Middle East cities. Infrastructure development takes time in this modern era. In that case I’ve practically witnessed where the contractors have taken 5 years just to build few metro stations in major European cities.
So atleast our public transport system is developing. Now it’s our responsibility to use public transport rather than blaming governments.
As an example, If people had used BMTC while travelling to work, there wouldn’t have been any problem in silkboard junction.
When everyone wants to show their wealth by bringing their vehicles out, then be ready to face the reality.

Till then, focus on the basic infrastructure like floods, drought, water supply, cleaning of drains and lakes, etc to make city better.

Maybe once all metro phase is started also it won’t reduce much traffic. First of all if you are travelling also from bike then bike and metro cost will be same and after getting off from metro most probably you need to take auto because of less metro route and auto cost will be another add on which is too high. If there is direct metro for your destination then you will be able to save time at least but if there is no direct route then bike will same more time and money.

      2. Whereas Tunnels roads are meant to use only a few for certain smaller areas .
      3. Metro tunnel doesn't not create bottlenecks in the corner,
unlike tunnels n tunnel roads, which creates bottlenecks.
      4. there are many more issues of feasibility
Instead of new bangalore n 3 more ring road, the Congress wants only old bangalore.
they will squeeze another 2+ crore population in this same old bangalore.
      uther nonsense n newsense.

A solution to Bengaluru traffic woes that needs to be considered appears weird prima facie but a brutal assessment makes it very desirable and acceptable. This is a three step solution. First step: Make BMTC buses free for all. Already buses are free for lady commuters, but this is just a freebie without any impact on traffic. If buses are free for all commuters would shift to buses in large number. Second step: The first step would not be adequate given the massive problem. Therefore impose congestion tax at least @Rs 20 per liter of fuel on car, taxi, autos and two wheeler. Tax should be collected at all city petrol pumps by the BMTC bus conductors who would not be required in the buses. Congestion tax coupled with free buses would induce many commuters to use bus. However these t wo steps do not give any solution for last mile connectivity. Therefore Third step: BMTC should provide shared cycles free of cost. These three steps would sure make people give up their private transport in favour of public transport - BMTC buses, Metro or Suburban rail.
The three step solution is environment friendly and sustainable in long run. It would increase quality of air and reduce carbon emission and sound pollution. Number of accidents would go down. Importantly it would be an inclusive solution and politically attractive. It would be liked even by those who decide to pay congestion tax as driving would become stress free and increase productive time.
The three steps can be financed by congestion tax + advertising revenue earned from the buses. A simple presentation on three step solution can be seen here👇

Bengaluru people especially natives invest a lot in chit funds. So, if their government plans to create urban infrastructure planning and development based chit funds, it might receive a good response from bengalureans and in turn involve public as their money is being put at stake. This will not only help people create wealth but also have their active participation on projects which would transform the city with sustainability and ultimately reduce overall chaos. Just a thought! 😇

Bengaluru needs first some simple stuff to be fixed liked....firstly - improve the road conditions, make them pothole free and build them to last at least 2-3 monsoons, secondly- stop the movement of trucks and goods carriers from 6 am to 10 pm. thirdly- Bengaluru traffic police should implement "traffic management" and not stand on the road just to collect fines, implement that traffic rules are followed not just by private drivers and riders but also BMTC and auto drivers and cab drivers (commercial vehicle drivers) and lastly, fasten the pace of the metro construction and ask metro to de-congest the roads by quickly building the pillars and vacating the roads.

If they can work deadlines, it's great but that's the biggest worry and bcoz of delayed projects, city is in such condition

When will they fill the potholes? When will they build footpaths? When will they stop two wheeler riders using footpaths? When will they paint the humps? Where are the pedestrian crossings? Do we have enough public toilets? No public garbage bins. Bangalore does not have enough parking places and not enough traffic signals.

All this sounds so good but basic thing like repairing potholes doesn't require extra land and more fund, Bengaluru every road has potholes. For 20km travelling in the city takes 150 to 170min. Everything in Bengaluru poor planning.. and very slow in action even no action at all... only giving false vision...

Good public transport is the need of the hour. Rich countries have great public transport infrastructure and don’t rely on personal vehicles. First privatize BMTC and attach it with BMRCL which is a well maintained city. Make one travel card for all kinds of public transport in the city for easy transactions. Increase frequency of good quality buses and improve connectivity via metro, suburban trains, underground trains, buses etc

Need of the hour is - to see Traffic Police not letting private buses park on the outer ring around Marathahalli. Shouldn’t let the heavy vehicles on the OTR until 11 pm.
The BMTC buses are famous to parallel park and blocking other BMTC buses to make more revenue.

Brand Bengaluru is getting metros. But doesn't have enough feeder busses. For example Baiyappanahalli to OMBR Layout there is no feeder bus after 5 pm. So autos fleece people by charging Rs 200 for just 4 km. Because of this cars and scooters will have to come out on the road. Need better last mile connectivity in the night especially for ladies.

Why has the center allowed local municipalities to plan our cities which are becoming larger and more crowded? The State Govt lack the finances and more importantly the technical know-how to address these issues. We need not reinvent the wheel. China faced this problem in the early 2000s but they have solved it by centralizing city planning and planning ahead. India needs to take such concrete steps before things get worse. Making our cities livable should be a priority for the Govt.

Focus on Mass transport, storm water drains to drain rain water and chanelling them to water bodies , an efficient Underground Drainage system, non-obstructive Electricity poles and an efficient waste management system are the 5 key things or pillars for a metro city to be liveable.
In Tamil Nadu Coimbatore is on its way to becoming the next Bangaluru. They have been dilly-dallying with a metro project for the past 15 years only on paper
Same fate for many other Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns/ cities across India
Instead of playing politics on each and every single issue, our councillors, mayors, MLA's and MP's should focus on these practical issues for a sustainable development
