Marchessault or Duchene would be cheaper. Maybe trade for a Marcus Foligno type. Also, need a bigger faster guy to play with Fox.
I think Jonathan Marchessault would be better for the Rangers, he's a RW and he would not cost as much as guentzel. Also Marchessault is good in the playoffs and won a Stanley cup!!
Guentzel won two cups and is a great asset in the playoffs, more than Marchessault, Both good choices though

What have we not learned from watching Tarasenko, Kane, Chytil, Panarin, Mika, Kakko. Wheeler play in top 6? did we not watch our fancy skaters get mauled by Tampa, Florida, Devils, Isles over and over? We don't need pretty boy skaters, we need tough guys who make you pay for carrying the puck. Laffy realized he needed to get tough. now he became the guy. Guentzel is another prima donna skater.

Could have gotten him at the trade deadline but Dolan said NO.His reason was he didn’t want to give up a first round and Kappo.His stupid reason was he didn’t want to go on stage at his new areana without having a first round pick.Well Dolass you got the number 27 pick and Kappo is going anyway.I think we could have used him against Florida.

Rangers need to add anyone who brings toughness and skill before the window closes. It should have been done this year. If they can land Gurntzel and can still add a quality crease clearing , big shot defender, they should go for it.
Guentzel is another pansy who waits to be passed the puck. We already have too many. Oilers are about to find out how Draisiatl stacks up/
I feel the report on Jake Guentzel is Unrealistic , due to the Salary Cap situation the Rangers are In and the NMC contracts We are saddled with thanks to Gorton/ Davidson regime. I feel the priorities this offseason is 1) Extend Igor Shesterkin , Alexis Lafreniere & Braden Schneider as Our foundation pieces. 2) decide the fate of Kappa Kakko , Filip[ Chytil and Jacob Trouba . either commit to Kakko as Our RW on 2nd line w/ Mika & Kreider or trade him before He loses any more value. Last Year this time Everyone wanted Laffy traded but committing to Him in training camp as You can see as the season progressed He really broke out and by the Playoffs was the performer Everyone always envisioned from a #1 overall. The question of Filip Chytil is difficult as He does carry a 4.5mil cap hit. I would imagine his trade value is at a all time low due to concussions and injuries . and when they extended him at that number it was to be Our 2C , with the play of Vincent Trocheck is off the table. as far a sTrouba goes that is just a bad contract . Over past 4 years He has proved consistently He is not a defenseman worthy of 8mil/year . Her might possess great leadership qualities but just not very good in the offensive or defensive end. Jeff Gorton and John Davidson cut corners on The Infamous letter by signing Trouba , Panarin and Goodrow, too put people in the seats and keep team relevant . I won't even go into whether the signing of Artemi Panarin was a good one too at a cap hit of 11.5mil/year . When Has He ever been dominant and taken over a game yet alone a series in the Playoffs in the past 4 years ??? I do feel having essentially two cores , the older core of Panarin , Mika Kreider , Trouba Trocheck and Goodrow has interfered with the development of the Young players not getting the ice time they need to grow and develop.
I believe Florida will be dismantled once they win the Cup this Year . They were built to accomplish this and half their squad are UFA's at season end . Unless the Rangers can find a way to accommodate a Kreider or Mika or Trouba with a trade , we will have to build around them . One move is vital is making space for Brennan Othmann , perhaps on right side for Mika and Kreids. His game is touted as a young Matthew Tkachuk, feisty and physical , good scoring ability and plays with chip on his shoulder . we also have Adam Sykora , another #1 pick , who did a whole season at Hartford as well as Adam Edstrom , who should definitely replace Alex Wennberg , jack Roslovic and Jonny Brodzinski on the roster . There presence will also help navigate the salary cap as they are All on ELC contracts . In free agency I think what is more realistic targets , especially if they move on from Kakko , Chytil, Trouba , Goodrow or Lindgren would be guys like Jordan Martinook , Tyler Bertuzzi, Jake Debrusk , Dakota Joshua , Brandon Montour or Brady Skjej . Also if Florida does tear it down I would love to see Aaron Ekblad as a front of net presence , to clear out the crease for Igor .

Ha Ha Ha #Rangers are one of 4 teams linked to Jake Guentzel, The others are #Islanders #RedWings and #Blackhawks. Without moving out Chyti and Kakko and one of Kreider/Trouba good luck affording $9,000,000 per year long term. Rangers don't have the cap space to fit Jake otherwise.

Rangers need big tough guys who get into those dirty area's of the Ice, they also need size and someone who can check people and someone who can score in the playoffs, the Reason the Rangers lost VS florida is because they were worn down from a bigger heavier team, in order for the Rangers to take the next step deep in the playoffs is heavier and bigger and a true scorer like Vinny trocheck, paniern and kreider and zabanajad were MIA, MISSING IN ACTION wake up Drury get this team Right for next yr we're counting on you. Just get Marner. Trade Kako, Trouba or a different D-man & a 2nd round pick. Done. We have enough depth; & grit. What we get is a RW who will score 30 on his own & send 40-60 A lighting Up #20 & #93. His goals alone would have got us past Florida. FV or PB would have gotten us past The Cats. Marner is going to be in his prime for another 5 years.
I hate moving Trouba. It's more of a cap space thing.
Rangers need physicality throughout their lineup. Back line also.
Rangers first need to learn how to make passes. The team looks like a bunch of players who see each other for the first time. if they will not learn how to play as a team no Guentzel help them
