Maddon was not "ejecting" the umpires as humorous as that might be. His gestures were indicating that the play was not the call of any of the other three umpires, but the first base umpire. He pointed and said, it's not your call, it's not your call, it's not your call, it's YOUR call, the first base ump because he let another umpire overrule his call.
The umpires got together and one of them had a clear view of the play, so the call was overturned by the umpire who made the call. No umpire has the authority to over rule another umpire's call. Maddon has no business telling the umpires who should make the call.
That was a smart move by Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, letting Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon get ejected by crew chief (#32/Dana DeMuth)
a lot of times umpires deserve to be ejected, there should be someone on the field to make sure that the umpires make the right calls, and if they don't, then the umpires get ejected
i have 2 problems with this. first, since he missed the ball with his hand i would consider it a dropped ball but on a bigger note, what umpire besides 1st base could actually see what was going on from their position?
Even though it's funny to think Maddon is "ejecting" the umpires, what he is saying is, "You make the calls at second. You make the calls at third. You're at home and YOU make the calls at first!!!!". And he should be right in this case, even though the umpires probably got the call right. I miss good old fashioned ejections after disputed calls.
Ozzie Guillen, you were very lucky that Joe Maddon was ejected by crew-chief (#32/Dana DeMuth), who worked behind home plate for the 1993 World Series, in which Joe Carter hit the greatest walk-off home runs ever.
No out there doesn't have to be an exchange at all dipshit 2 outs 1st baseman catches the ball and runs into dugout whith the ball in his glove he is still out
Daniel, watch it again, the runner clearly touches the bag with his right foot. Even if he didn't touch the bag, the defense would have to appeal before the runner returns to the base to get an out. You don't know much about the rules to the game, do you?
die, not true. You must show voluntary release on a caught batted ball but as soon as the fielder has secure possession of the ball and touches the bag, the runner is out. Any subsequent action is irrelevant.
This is by far my favorite one.Love it when Maddon ejects all the umpires.
That was funny! Maddon ejecting all of the umpires, I'd say he still has a sense of humor when he's irate!
I love it when managers eject umpires.
It's Awesome!
It’s hilarious also thanks to Joe Maddon 😂

***** Maddon did in fact eject the umpire who ejected him. But after that, with all the pointing, yea you maybe right.
The umpires got together and one of them had a clear view of the play, so the call was overturned by the umpire who made the call. No umpire has the authority to over rule another umpire's call. Maddon has no business telling the umpires who should make the call.
He was definitely ejecting all the umpires. 😂

Under the authority vested in the major league manager, all umpires have been hitherto and forth-worth ejected.
Wow, Maddon really got his money's worth.
Not a clean catch in my opinion.
Looking at Maddon ejection videos... he gets ejected on the road it seems more often than at home.
a lot of times umpires deserve to be ejected, there should be someone on the field to make sure that the umpires make the right calls, and if they don't, then the umpires get ejected
Then we wouldn't have as much umpires on the field, which would make it a lot worse.
Flawless logic there, idiot
Thankfully 8 years from when you made this comment, instant replay is now used to prevent this and has made attending baseball games super boring
Joe Maddon's so awesome
Joe Maddon is a horse's ass.
This is my favorite Joe Maddon ejection of all time. Dewayne Staats jokingly said Maddon ejected the entire umpire crew. 😂
Maddon always gets his moneys worth
i have 2 problems with this. first, since he missed the ball with his hand i would consider it a dropped ball but on a bigger note, what umpire besides 1st base could actually see what was going on from their position?
The 2nd base umpire had a clear view of the ball in the glove. The 1st base umpire had an obstructed view of it.
Even though it's funny to think Maddon is "ejecting" the umpires, what he is saying is, "You make the calls at second. You make the calls at third. You're at home and YOU make the calls at first!!!!". And he should be right in this case, even though the umpires probably got the call right. Well, Maddon is completely wrong about that.
That was shitty. You don't reverse the call after you've made it. The ball was coming out of the glove, not in the process of exchanging ball to hand.
Crew chief Dana DeMuth has had enough, and he has ejected Joe Maddon from the game.
You're outta here!!~#!@$!@$ lmfao
On review it looks like the got the call correct.
Maddon get himself ejected
Why does he look like yhe unmpire
Ozzie Guillen, you were very lucky that Joe Maddon was ejected by crew-chief (#32/Dana DeMuth), who worked behind home plate for the 1993 World Series, in which Joe Carter hit the greatest walk-off home runs ever.
I though only umpires could eject people
Nah joe was just messing around and putting on a show as usual xD
Amazing YT algorithm strikes again!
Based off the rule are the umpires also official ejected
Jomboy needs to do a breakdown on this.
26,380 of these views belong to me. Oscar winning... Marlon Brando Maddon. Not a bad manager either.
I eject you and you and you and you too!
LOL
robot umps
That was awesome..
Boo white sox go twins.
totally
my question is was the umpire joe west
It's to bad we don't see stuff like this much anymore with the new instant replay, the game is now more boring than ever, lol
Maddon is tiring ...
No out there doesn't have to be an exchange at all dipshit 2 outs 1st baseman catches the ball and runs into dugout whith the ball in his glove he is still out
Maddon talks to much with his hands for me to not start laughing because he looks like a clown when he argues.
His family’s surname was originally Maddonini… Italian, in other words.
Heard about this one on the Ivy Envy podcast. I hope to see the day Maddon ejects the umps once again.
That manager was not taking that laying down!
If I was a Tampa Bay Ray I would be irate as well
the runner never even touched the bag so he's out any way.
Daniel, watch it again, the runner clearly touches the bag with his right foot. Even if he didn't touch the bag, the defense would have to appeal before the runner returns to the base to get an out. You don't know much about the rules to the game, do you?
Safe you have to have a clean exchange
die, not true. You must show voluntary release on a caught batted ball but as soon as the fielder has secure possession of the ball and touches the bag, the runner is out. Any subsequent action is irrelevant.
Is it even possible for a manager to eject an umpire?
Nope.
*facepalm*
