    Just got your book and have been following along on tnttt for several years. I'm about ready to finally bite the bullet and build my own. Thank you for this video, the book and all the helpful responses you provide on the forum!

    Love the simple utility of this galley. So many seem overbuilt for my taste. I’m curious if there is a functional reason to have that extra 6”+ of space at the back end of the galley. Is that more about the simplicity of the build, avoiding curves, or is there another reason? Seems like this setup also might encourage knee-shin knocks along that bottom edge as well. Mostly, I was just thinking, as I watched this tour, that all of that empty space could have been added to the cupboards and drawers. Would love your thoughts on this choice.

      We've never touched our shins on the bumper since the curve bends back in. The six inches in front of the water jug is used when we slide it out while we're cooking so we can have ready access to water. The only way to get rid of that space is to tighten the curve, and that would be problematic when sheathing the hatch since plywood only bends so much.

    Drawer latches, link would be appreciated. FYI I just read your book. Well written, informative and easy to follow. Doing a BOM now to estimate cost / plan my build.

    Can you give us some detail about how did you waterproof it? Do you ever get rain water in?

    • @tonylatham5915
      @tonylatham5915  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are asking about how the hatch seals the galley? (It's dry and dustproof.)
      There's a lip that protrudes up from the sidewalls into a recess in the hatch that has a D-shaped seal in it. I wish I could upload a photo here. You should take a gander at my build log over here: and that may give you an idea. www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=71588&start=165
      I do have a chapter on building the hatch in my book, so you might want to grab a copy. Read the reviews and click on the cover to take a look at the first 23 pages. www.amazon.com/dp/B0846BXG9L/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1

    This was made with the lowrider 😳?

    • @tonylatham5915
      @tonylatham5915  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I built this before I had my Lowrider2. But I've taken my CAD files for this teardrop and turned them into DXF and SVG files that are freely available on my website, tonylatham.net. Holler if you have questions. The easiest way would be through my website email.

    No sink or water pump?

    • @tonylatham5915
      @tonylatham5915  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. A sink eats up already limited counter space and plumbing does the same for storage. I'd be willing to bet that those with a sink and pump use a lot more water than those without -which is ultra important if you boondock. We use paper plates and heat up a small portion of water in whatever we cooked in for cleanup. Works great and uses little water.
