    Awesome job of building the camper guys, love the wood look without all the plastic door or windows most people use. You should be proud of the job you did! Greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿

    Great build. What size is it? Mine is a 6 x 10, but clad in aluminum. Have another trailer ready for this summers build. Let us know how the heater works. I picked up one for the next build too. Have fun!

    How long did this take? How much did it cost? Did you already have the tools or did you rent, or borrow tools for this job? Curious.

      Do you know the final weight of your trailer?

  • @schizocdboy

    let me know if you get more than thirty uses out of it without significant maintenance.the structural designs were, a little alarming. So if you only do the standard upkeep it works. I'm confident the construction won't hold up. that was a dangerous design.a center blow to the ribs and colapse the trailer on the occupants. there are no tertiary support structures.
    it's just screws howling up wood ribs.no interlocking joints, nothing to distribute the stress of a moving vehicle..you're banking on a total of at best 25 cm of steel or at worst the same of zinc/rion alloys, none of which you want to be the sole holdouts for hundred of pounds of shearing force.replace your braces and notch them into the side walls, that's enought, but really support beams, it's an option for extra insulation wich will aid greatly in your climate.Mine you I'd never put my family in that with any kind of overhang.

      20000 kilometers later, not a single crack. :) We built it like a boat. The fiberglass is what gives it the rigidity, like a boat.

    • @bobmazzi7435
      @bobmazzi7435 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That actually looks very robust. Heavy plywood with what looked like 2by ribs and joists, clad with another 1/2-3/4 of wood strips with LOTS of glue. Then, the inside is another layer of ply with the cavities stuffed with foam. In many ways, not how I'd have done it, but that looks very sturdy. Short of a tree coming down on it I'd expect this to be going strong in 25 years.

    • @morrisg5060
      @morrisg5060 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yup! it's built like a boat. I agree it will last a long time. If repairs are needed, I believe they are very capable of addressing it. great build.

    • @dkruitz
      @dkruitz ปีที่แล้ว

      @schizocdboy Check again; watch around the 4:00 mark you can see vertical supports inside the 3/4" plywood and they are butted up against the roof beams. Personally I would have added 1/4" ply gussets to the roof to wall post joints to help against wracking, but it looks solid.

    I spent 10 minutes building this camper as instructed and 10 minutes in I realized it was going to be more like 30 minutes and I said screw it.

    Did you weigh the camper when you finished it? I am curious how much it weighs and what effect it has on gas mileage.
