Well as Georgian i would see all these 3 states united together! We need each other! This region always thrived when it was united! We all are brothers there! We are just thrown to tear each other because if we are together this region would give us more power, politicly, economically, in every aspect! That’s why they killed Transcaucasia idea in couple of days! That’s why they destroyed Yugoslavia, imagine them united again and not fighting between each other! @@c3cxla The strategic geographic location and the charming natural beauty of Karabakh have been the main causes of the various clashes and bloody battles over this territory ever since the Stone Age. The region is considered to have been one of the most important areas for ancient human settlements, after the Mediterranean, North Africa, and China. Archaeological excavations in the 1960s in the prehistoric Azikh cave in Azerbaijan, which was discovered in Karabakh and is located 14 km. from the Fizuli region, as well as the remains of a primitive man’s jaws (called the Azikh man/Azikhantrop) that were discovered at this archaeological site, prove that Azerbaijan was inhabited by humans between 350,000 and 400,000 years ago. Because of these discoveries, the territory of Azerbaijan has been included on a map showing “The ancient settlers of the Europe”.[1]
The Azerbaijan state-Caucasian Albania, which had been a crossroads between East and West, North and South from ancient times, was a meeting point of different ethnic groups, religions, and cultures, and covered the northern part of historical Azerbaijan, including Karabakh. The population of Albania was diverse: Albans, Utians (Utiy), Caspians, Girdimans (also Gardmans, Gardamans), Tsavdeys, Leqs, and Gargars (Gargarians) lived there.[2] Caucasian Albania, which got its name from Alban ethnic group, possessed military and political power as well as cultural influence in the Near and Middle East, and it had good relations with regional countries. For the first time, the name of Alban ethnic group was used by Arrian, the author of second century, in his records about the Battle of Gaugamela between Alexander the Great and Darius III of Persia in 331 BC.[3]
As an ethnic group Albans were the leading tribe in Caucasian Albania, as well as in the whole region. Therefore, according to ancient scholars, Caucasian Albania took its name from Albans.[4]
The ethnonym Alban had two different meanings: firstly as the name of the all tribes that lived in Caucasian Albania, and secondly as a name for the leading ethnic group that ruled over all tribes in Caucasian Albania.[5]
There are also two different opinions as to the origin of Alban tribes among scholars. The first group argues that they are of Caucasian origin,[6] while the second group maintains that they originated from the Turkish ethnic group.[7] According to Geybullayev, existing of Turkish ethnos that called Alban and lived among Kazakhs, Turkmens, Kyrgyz, and Garagalpag in the Central Asia at the end of nineteenth century proves that as an etnonym the name Alban originated from Turkic languages.[8]

Their homeland/stronghold was/is Ararat and Van, which is less than 200 KM from the Caucasus, so as you said about local genetics, it's impossible for Armenians to have been floating around Ararat and Van for so long without interbreeding unless the natives vanished into thin air.
I did a DNA test and it came up as Caucasian almost entirely, even though to be perfectly mathematical about it, I am only 30% Georgian.
What you call "Armenian" today, came from Indo European peoples, and the PIE people pre-date Turkic arrival by a solid 3000 - 4000 years, which is proven in the fact that the Hittite Empire which controlled modern day Antalya before "Armenia" was an independent Kingdom at all, was also Indo European.
I work in the history department of a University in Australia and it's accepted as a fact here that Armenians and Georgians are considered the two oldest Kingdom's and nations in the present-day Caucasus.
That is not to say that the Chechens, Cirkess, Dagestani's etc did not exist - they certainly did, but you'll notice that "Armenia" and "Georgia" always have their own place on ancient maps such as the Greeks and Persians, whereas the northern Caucasus is just blank and written as "Caucasus" without an ethnic designation or title because most of the Northern Caucasus people functioned as their own independent tribes which wouldn't fit on a map.
      TL;DR
Armenians have definitely been in the area since at least 2,500 BCE as per Western and independent genetic and archaeological studies.
I personally don't conflict nationalism and history.
If tomorrow, it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Baku had been Turkish for 4000 years and the world was wrong all along, I wouldn't really care.

These nations are not considered the Caucasus traditionally and I am confused why this video is claiming this. All these highlighted areas comprise nations are originally from other regions (Kartveli and Armenian people have Iranic roots, and Azeris are a Turkic people who literally everyone knows originate from near modern day China). The real Caucasus is everything on the opposite side of the Caucasus mountains. Get your facts straight. If the Georgians and the other groups think they can hijack and culturally appropriate Caucasian food, clothing, music, singing, art, history and overall culture and that will make them "Caucasian", they are sorely mistaken. Anyone who knows the history of this region well knows that these groups will never be considered "Caucasian" by anyone around them. Shame they can't appreciate their original histories and culture and be content with them. At least in the case of the two faced Georgian peoples, though, I am hardly surprised 🙄

When you say that Azerbaijanis did not come to the region until the year 1000, you are absolutely wrong. I repeat - incorrect. Only the Turkic language came with significant Turkic blood, but the local peoples over there have always been the same people. They intermixed, but the Caucasian albanians, the medes, the local Irania tribes - they are all still there and now part of the Azerbaijani nation. Azerbaijanis have the same level of ancient blood as any other people in the region. Their difference is simply that they united later than some others, and that was because there was no need for it earlier or they were small and divided and because the Turkics sparked it. Up until this day, different kind of Georgians differentiate themselves from each other based on the region, but Azerbaijanis no longer do it. They leapfrogged the more mountainous Caucasians
