    I really hope that DJI makes a video camera in between the Pocket 3 and this… larger than a 1 inch sensor, but not as big and heavy as the 4D. A ‘Mavic 3’ version of this concept.

      @CatAvGuy 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I'd be happy with something like an APS-C sensor on a gimbal with a Pocket 3 style control scheme and a similar fixed lens, so it's closer to a normal ILC in size than the pocket 3, but lacks all the cinema-rig extra bells and whistles the Ronin 4D series has to still largely be a vertical shaft you can hold in one hand for reasonable periods of time and won't stick out too much.

    Hey! I have a pretty good bit of experience with the 6K version of this camera and they sell a cable for $1500 that allows you to put most of the weight in a backpack. It's actually worth the $1500. Unfortunately I changed jobs and don't get to use it. The thing nobody talked about but I VERY much discovered is the prime lenses they sold with it were... bad. No close focusing and the autofocus was hit and miss. I bought the e-mount adapter and put the Sony 24mm GM on it and.... maybe one of the best cameras I've ever touched. I miss it!

      Unfortunately, there aren't too many options for anamorphic lenses on this thing. We do have some decent options with the Sirui Saturn, Laowa Nanomorph, and Blazar Remus sets, and maybe some lighter, smaller scope options, but that's about it. Really limited.
      Hopefully, we can get a Mark II version in the near future with a much stronger, more powerful gimbal head that allows for a wider lens selection.

    • @CrimzonRX
      @CrimzonRX 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AfoteyAnnum I see your point of view, and I do hear that a lot, but I disagree, as it's a camera with a gimbal, not a gimbal with a camera.
      The image coming out of this hits on par with cams well above its price point. If you own other cams, for sure I'd say run what makes sense, but as a solo op/ if this is your a cam, there's no downside to using it as a normal camera, with the flex it's actually way lighter to run massive anamorphic than the Venice 2 and rialto 2 or any non flex like system.

    Thanks for the great video, as per usual Jordan (aka “The Sexy Tall One” - 2024’s the year we all make that tag stick!) I think what this new sensor and video really underscores is the degree to which DJI isn’t kidding around insofar as this is a camera focused squarely for the use in professional industry work - much like the Inspire 3.
    Sure, a few well off individuals and better performing TH-cam channels will be able to buy one, but it’s simple not a tool meant for run-and-gun solo or small operator outfits. Even small- to medium-sized wedding videography channels aren’t likely going to really benefit from everything this camera brings to the table versus what else is available for the same investments. This is a tool that it’s expected you will now be bringing to sets with reasonably sized crews that are controlling many shot variables and can provide shooting supports.
    Since it’s first release, DJI has provided the accessories, tools and now sensor upgrades to make it competitive to systems such as the Sony Venice. That’s the sort of camera that they’re looking to compete with here, and it’s now disingenuous to put them up against mirrorless hybrid systems or FX3s.
    If you want a great breakdown of the versatility that the DJI Ronin 4d 8K now offers filmmakers, I recommend checking out @BestBoyAdam’s great videos on it - starting with this one: th-cam.com/video/GwtNFn-y1DA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rezd2bEa7cRrPzzu

      Well yeah, I agree with you in everything you said except one thing... It is a great camera for small crews. In our case we are used of shooting films and TV shows for companies like HBO and Warner so we normally end up bringing more than 60 people to the productions. Last year we started a personal project for one of my partners and we didn´t much money available so we decided to get the Ronin 4D and do a full feature with only six people, it worked so well (even when it was the first iteration of firmware and not all the accesories were available at the time) that I decided to take it too to the other productions because we can cut a lot of time, extra equipment and bring a smaller crew.

    • @JMurph2015
      @JMurph2015 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sergiosanchez2012yeah this is aimed squarely at the "pro creator" market. It's too expensive and niche to justify as a hobby, but if you're making even modest amounts of money with it, $13K for a kit seems pretty reasonable (an R5C with gimbal and lens, etc is going to be close to the same price). This is a great "batteries included" setup for a small crew trying to make professional looking video. The big sets are using far more complicated and expensive ARRI rigs most likely.

    • @sergiosanchez2012
      @sergiosanchez2012 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JMurph2015 All productions, even big ones are looking to reduce crew sizes and run more efficiently. I normally work for studios and all I´ve talked with are looking for ways to cut corner. Productions in the unionized system are getting so expensive in the last years that it´s almost impossible to shoot. We now have less hours to shoot, actors doesnt want to wait and big heavy equipment require more time to setup and more people to operate. So you´ll be seeing more little cameras like this on big productions since they offer a lot of stuff the expensive ones, doesnt have.

For what you get it's a fairly compact system, it will be interesting to see people use the new version's perks outside just 8k that, well, if we're being honest, would never be honest for most content. By the time videos are processed and compressed multiple times, then scaled down for most desktop or phone viewing, the majority of viewers for TH-cam stuff will never see any quality bonuses past maybe 2k60.

      @@MarkusFinholt it´s the oppossite... Shot a show last year with two C500 mII both cameras had an operator and 2 assistants each, it took 15 to build them to start shooting... With the ronin you just take it out of the bag and you´re ready to go with 1 person. Mount the rails and bringing out the fischer dolly out of the truck and bring it to the second floor of the location then mounting the C500 take 4 people and 25min. Ronin 4D just one guy and we didn´t have to bring anything else or pay for extra equipment.
      The camera can be remotely operated too if you get the wireless monitor and you can unplug the sensor and connect it to the camera body like a rialto. So for running shots inside cars we didnt´t have to use the heavy and complicated car rigs, just a small suction cup to the wind shield or sunroof and you are ready in 5min and you can easily pan tilt and focus from another vehicle with no hassles. All that runs with a singel battery. So it saves a lot of time and the need of extra crew and equipment on set.
