  • Roku’s StreamBar Pro combines a soundbar and built-in, full-featured, 4K HDR Roku streamer in a single, high value, high performance, high tech system for only $179.99. The StreamBar Pro has lots of appeal. The StreamBar Pro can be expanded into a full 5.1 wireless surround sound system (the configuration of our review) with Roku’s wireless speakers and Roku wireless subwoofer. Throw in some intelligent dialogue enhancement technology, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple AirPlay, and HomeKit support plus a voice-enabled remote and you have a package whose performance far exceeds its asking price.

I’ve tested the Roku wireless speakers and subs. It was a pretty amazing system for its price and considering the fact that it is all wireless. It will certainly not rival a system comprised of an AV receiver and speakers, but for what it is it is quite good!

This is a good review for what it is, it went over everything about it and even a detailed set up. We really don't need anything more serious, I don't believe it will show anything spectacular. I have heard this in real life and can say it is competitive at its price point. Kudos to Audioholics for showing things at bargain basement prices, you don't have to be rich to appreciate a better sound quality. I may have a main set up, but I also have an old Vizio 5.1 soundbar for a play room that I believe sounds amazing for $200.

This product is good value. I needed a new sound bar and also did not want to use my TV's built in software. This thing saves so many wires and time. The market for this may be niche with many TV's out there having Roku built in. This is a good overview, but it is odd that you did not show your set up. Would be helpful for this kind of market as someone like me does not know much about sound systems in general.

I was wondering if you know a way of playing the demo sound loop that plays when you successfully connect your surround speakers. It was pretty neat.

The only issue I had with this setup is that it's not cheap and when I cranked up the volume, the speakers just don't keep up. I think all-in, it ended up costing me around $700. You can get a Sony STR-DH590 (entry level 5.2 receiver) for $249.99 from Best Buy around Xmas time and built a pretty decent speaker system for about the same price. Still comes in a little less and IMO will blow away the Roku one. I ended up giving mine to my parents and I now have that Sony receiver with a used speaker system my dad gave me. All in, $250 and sounds better to me. Just have to run wires.

Good review and overall explanation of how the system works. I was told if you already have the speakers and subwoofer installed to a roku tv then you must unpair them and hook up the soundbar first. Is this accurate?

Will the wireless surround sound speakers work if I have the Streambar directly connected to my computer using a Toslink optical cable? For example, I have the optical cable connected from the Streambar to my computer (which has a toslink optical port on it). I want to know once I sync the wireless surround sound speakers with the Streambar, if I will still get audio output from my computer with the Streambar PLUS the surround sound speakers as well.
Sorry if this might sound confusing 😅

    This IS a review.
And the product is actually pretty helpful. For those on a budget, or who can't run wires everywhere, this is a pretty good solution; maybe Roku's best product.
That said, I can see how some might think this was sponsored. However, I would definitely trust Audioholics to disclose that, even if they were obligated to buy law.
    Good video.

When this system works, it works great. I’ve had it for years with no hardware issues. I will say if you ever get a new modem or some other internet related thing, good fuckin luck getting it all working again. Your best bet is to factory reset the soundbar and the TV.

    • @stonesfan285

It's probably better-suited for small rooms. The speakers just can't keep up with high volume like a receiver and separates can. Not having to run wires is nice but it's pretty expensive for what it is.

Audioholics has had subjective, feature-list-first reviews and impressions of all kinds of A/V hardware since always (literally for as long as Audioholics has existed), though they are most often found on their website.
I can fully understand bringing that kind of content to TH-cam as well, seeing as they often do these on more lifestyle-oriented products, like headphones, soundbars and such, and like it or not these are the products that drive viewership for other audiences than hardcore home-theater and hifi-geeks.
