Great video, lots of questions answered! I do have this question. Can you use this just as a sound bar? I already have a roku express 4k+ streaming player. Can I just plug the stream bar into the optical port and not use the built in player?
Technicaly you could but if you are just looking for a sound bar there are cheaper options out there that are just dedicated sound bars.
Thanks for the video. Seems like I need to connect optical cable and the hdmi cable to my 2011 Samsung series 6 tv? If so, do I need to connect my new blu ray player to tv as well?

I recently purchased a Phillips Roku 32" TV and am using my pre-existing Logitech computer speakers and subwoofer that required a digital to analog conversion device to adapt to my old Samsung Smart TV. As I mentioned, this worked right away on the new Ruku TV. My interest in the Ruku Streambar is only for a front speaker to deliver better vocal clarity as I am a senior with some hearing loss. I understand the Ruku Streambar performs very well for mid-range sounds such as speech, but base is very limited and thus a need for a subwoofer as well. I am hoping I can blend my old Logitech speakers with the Ruku Soundbar through the optical cable option since my new TV does not have ARC HDMI. If not, I will have to consider more cost and purchase the additional Ruku wireless speaker options to achieve the full sound audio system I desire. I know there are cheaper options than using the Ruku Streambar as a soundbar alone, but I am sold on its compactness to stay under a 30" length space limitation for a bookshelf setting, and its raved about mid-range sound quality. I am also expecting I might be able to control everything through the Ruku Streambar's remote, which I presently can't do. Is what I am trying to accomplish with my existing Logitech speaker system doable?
If you arelady have a digital to analog conversion device this might be possible. you would just use the optical option for the Roku sound bar and plug it into your digital conversion device. However, I don't think you will be able to control everything from the Roku remote.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews My current sound system's conversion device is already using an optical cable attached to my new Phillips Roku TV. I have no additional optical ports to attach the Roku Streambar. Do they make an optical port extension to accommodate an additional optical connection port? Again, I don't have an ARC HDMI port or any other HDMI ports available to use on my TV due to other devices. If I do add an optical extension port will my desired system still work with two optical connections from the TV?
Oops ... I see you said "plug the Roku Streambar into my conversion device" vs. new TV. This would free up my TV's optical port. My conversion device does have an additional HDMI connection going to the TV which would remain and be my only direct conversion device connected to the TV. I'll let you know if this works when the Roku Streambar arrives. Thanks for responding and doing a great job with your videos.
Does the volume levelling and speech clarity work with other devices plugged into the tv like a Freeview box and ps5, or are they only for the apps on the soundbar ?
It does it for whatever audio is coming through it.
The USB port can also be used with an Ethernet-to-usb adapter for a wired network connection. I am using mine like this and getting 93Mbps connection.

Does the Soundbar provide sound for all TV inputs somehow? Or just for the input the Roku is connected to?
Having only been able to use this with the optical port I can say that while using that it will act as a sound bar not only when on the Roku input. If you have a cable box or gaming system it will also play sound from those as well.
I received one of these for Christmas to try to sway me away from my Apple TV’s. The thing I noticed os that the power cable will disconnect if I move the device. By this i mean that I have my rotating wall mount and I have the Roku mounted to the bottom of my TV with plenty of slack in the power cable. If I slightly rotate the TV, the cable will disconnect.
I’ve also noticed that if I exit out of DirecTV streaming and go to home, the App won’t alway terminate/ turn off. I have to turn off the power strip or disconnect the power from the power strip.
That really should not happen. I have not noticed the power cable being that sensitive to movement, and I set up something similar for my parents as they got this sound bar after my review. As for the DirecTV issue that might be more of a single app issue then a overall problem.
Nice video. I bought it in Europe for around 50$ yesterday so I think this is a very good deal. I'm really curious to see what it will be like. I have a fire tv stick and it is too much advertisement on it and my tv sound is also not the best.
Roku limits the ads to really a small one on the left every now and then and a large one on the right when you are looking though the channels. If you are coming from just the audio on a TV the sound is going to be like night and day.
Is it possible to just stream music from a music app on your phone directly to this speaker through its Bluetooth connection. Just use it as a speaker.... That wasnt mentioned, or I missed it...
You would need a "Roku channel" that you can cast to in order to do it. You can't just Bluetooth to the sound bar.
Will any of the audio settings like voice emphasis work when watching TV?
I want to say that it does. At least from how things sound to me.

what if my tv has already roku. Do I use the same remote control? the setup changes?
If you already have a TV with the Roku OS on it there are other cheaper speackers out there. But if you do get both setup would not change and you should be able to use the remote for the TV with the sound bar. You would just need to pair it.
I have a 11-year old Panasonic LCD. You made reference to ARC, whatever that is. So, I'm asking, will this soundbar work on my old Panasonic? Thanks.
If your TV is 11 years old chances are you will not have an ARC HDMI port. You would need to use the optical port which even old TV have.

@@d.r.martin6301 No that is what you need the TV has the optical out, while the Roku sound bar has the optical in. You should be just fine.
Can Roku streambar only be used like a soundbar with built OS Google tv on my tv? All I need is to just improve the sound of the TV. If so, how to properly connect the device to use it exclusively as a soundbar? Please, help))🙏🏻
Yes, if you are just using it as a sound bar you only need to make sure that you are using the audio only cable to the tv. My parents have this stream bar now and they use if both for the built in Roku but also with their cable box and it works with both.

I have this, and the sound is pretty good, but I would like to know if I can connect my wired headphones to still watch the roku, but listen to it on headphones. Does anyone know if I can do this? and how to?
Plugging directly into it now. If you had some wireless ones that you use with the tv then yes. I set up my father with it but needed a splitter to do it. amzn.to/3IxVyWc

Everytime I change tv inputs the streambar reverts back to homescreen when i go back to its input. Very frustrating as i often switch from my Dishnet to roku. Any help?
Sound like something under the power savings option. Will revert back to home screen after x amount of time has passed.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews Time isn't relevant. Didn't do it with roku premiere so it must have something to do with CEC. No options on my tv will correct it. Just some info to be aware of if thinking about purchasing this soundbar.

Yes, but you will need to use the Roku media app to do so.

I've had a Streambar for over a year, and I like the sound quality. But it does one thing I hate: Every time I change between programs or sources, the damn thing automatically mutes the sound. And to restore the sound I need to hit the up-volume control. I just want the volume to stay at 20 for most everything. Does anyone know how to defeat this super annoying feature?
I am not sure this is an issue just with the Roku streambar. I have had the same thing happen with my Sonos sound bar. How did you connect the Rouk sound bar to your tv?

It is not android-based is proprietary to Roku. However they do allow you to put Kodi on it.
How do I fix it when it blinks and turn off
Are you asking about the light on the front?
I bought it a few weeks ago, but when I connect my phone to it and play music 🎶 it is just quiet. But when connected to my LG TV via HDMI the sound is there.
How are you connecting it to your phone to play music?

@@Wanderer001_Reviews I connected the phone under device and remotes , then I connected my phone's hotspot. Suddenly I just saw the page for Bluetooth appear on the TV and on home shortcuts the "Bluetooth" window 🪟 came. Ever since the connection is flawless.

Yes, not the best way to hear this, but the general idea of them sounding better then your tv should be noticeable even on phone spekers.
And i thought they make their money by selling streaming devices.
Do not buy this piece of junk. You will regret it.

Loud popping noise when bass is prevalent. It is a OS issue.
