Brian and I remember the first video you made of the Smith house. Good review as always. It’s good that you can pass on foods and ask for extra of others. I was wondering if you have a separate PO Box for the channel. Would like to send you a Christmas card if so.
Glad to see both of you back in my neck of the woods, North Georgia. Hope you have fun and enjoy our beautiful area. I can't wait to watch the other videos of your trip this weekend. I wish you safe travels and Hello again from Ringgold, Ga.
Just wanted to jump on here and say thank you for your channel. Specifically for sharing the hope of Christ!! Watching some other channels lately who profess faith but use God in generic terms and lack conviction. Thank you for sharing the only hope is in Christ Jesus, the way, truth, and the life!! Keep up the great content!!
That’s wonderful to hear! Yes, there’s not much for rent here, stand alone buildings, in franklin. They are closed on Sundays, out of respect for the church next door, since they serve alcohol. They stay very busy, as far as I can tell. They are right off the highway there, so it’s convenient for folks traveling. Also, now next to the new hospital. I look forward to your video.
Don't live far from here and used to frequent quite often for a good meal for my wife and I and our kids and Grandkids. It did change a lot in price and food not as plentiful or as good as before covid. Decent place to eat in the day at $16.00 per adult and cheaper for the children. Beautiful little town though. Love to go to all the hiking spots around the area. Nice channel you have. I have been following a lot of your East Tn adventures since I found you last week. Especially in Cades Cove. Growing up there I sure do miss the area.
We love this area. If the restaurant used to be better than it is now, then I wish I had gotten to try it then. Because we still love it. I think their fried chicken is some of the best. Thanks for watching.
We love Dahlonega beautiful little town. The Smith - House has always been very good. It is very similar to The Dillard House . The best roast beef I ever tasted was at The Smith - House. Good old fashioned country food.
"I don't know why okra was ever invented"... LOL Okra and raisins are always foods people either love or hate. I love okra. My mom showed me how to make it in a stew with fried pork chunks and sweet plantains. Letting the cut okra sit with lime juice prior to cooking gets rid of the sliminess. 😊 Great review, thank you!!! Will have to visit that part of Georgia.
@NCMemoryMakers I have never had pickled okra. Hmmm. Sounds interesting. I tried frying a batch up, and it didn't turn out well (quite the nightmare). But, I do enjoy having fried okra when eating out at southern food restaurants. We had a buffet restaurant around when I was growing up called Piccadillys. We would go after Sunday service, and the cooks were so good. There was everything you would want for a Sunday meal... fish, chicken, ham, or roast beef, and all the sides, plus many types of breads and desserts. You walked around and pointed to what you wanted, and they would pass the food to you. At the end of the line, you paid, then had the option of taking your tray to a table or ask a server to carry it for you. It was such a great place for the family. Young people today are caught up eating at fancy places and spending over $100 easily on meals, and they are still hungry afterward because its all smoke and mirrors. Watching your videos of good ole meals at restaurants brought back a lot of memories from my youth. Thank you to you and your dear wife for taking the time to share your travels with us.
@@QAsession You are very welcome. We remember Piccadilly Cafeteria quite well. They actually bought out Morrison's Cafeteria, which I used to love as a child.
I agree on both places as far as the chicken, would be hard to choose between the two. I love collards and they looked like fresh collards!! Thanks for the great review of Smith's. Hope you enjoy the lights!!
That was some good looking chicken! Was the ham they offered country ham or baked ham? There use to be a place called The Home Place in Catawba, VA that reminds me of this place. It was outstanding and we were sad that it closed. We definitely would try this place out if in the area. David says to tell you that you don't go to Captain George's for the dessert! LOL Although I will say that Captain George's does have the best desserts of any buffet. Great review!
I LOVED the key lime cake at Capt. George's. And we loved the crab legs. As far as the strawberry shortcake, however, ole' George doesn't come close. It was baked ham. If it were country ham, I would had to have tried it. I can eat baked, but I can take it or leave it. I already knew their chicken was amazing, so that made it easy. Yes, if you are ever in that area, this place is a must. Same with Dillard House. They are about 60 miles apart, but pretty much identical. Dillard House had an acorn squash that was amazing. I actually thought it was sweet potatoes. Sorry to hear about the place near you closing down. It is always sad when that happens to a place that you really like. We honestly love N. Georgia at Christmas time. Christmas lights video is processing now. We did 3 towns this past weekend. Hope you all have a great week. We're planning to be at Dollywood this weekend.
@@NCMemoryMakers Y'all are getting some traveling in! We have our Christmas play at church this weekend and Tuesday. So no travelling for us this weekend. We won't be able to travel until school is out. Busy time of year. Have fun at Dollywood!
@@NCMemoryMakers We actually have 3 performances this year. It's normally 2 performances. Praying for souls to get saved. It would be great to get together again. Are y'all still going to Pigeon Forge before Christmas?
@@vafunseekers Yes, praying many souls get saved, and that God uses it mightily. We will be there again the nights of December 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. We are leaving out early on the 24th, for St. Augustine. Will you all be there then?
I absolutely love fried green tomatoes, and she loves fried okra. Wish we could have gotten that as a side. There used to be some restaurants around Atlanta, called Folks, and they had the best fried green tomatoes.
Your meal looked really good. I’ve not been there, but I will try to. Id like to go there and Helen. Did you do a video at The Dillard House? Thanks for the video! Looking forward to catching up on them.
We actually didn't go back to the Dillard House this trip, since we just did a video there a few weeks back. Not sure if you saw that one, but it was 3 weeks ago, the first time I contacted you about meeting. We were going to take you for lunch there on Saturday if you had been in town, but we ended up going to Haywood Smokehouse (Franklin) on Saturday. Hate we didn't get to meet you. We also hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I’ll look for that video, and others. I hope haywood was good. The three locations can vary, depending on the day of the week, sometimes. They are all independently owned. Thanks again for the invitations. Hope to catch up with y’all one of these days.
@@cumberlandquiltchic1 Haywood Smokehouse was very good. I was surprised that it was a storefront, as the other 2 locations are stand alone buildings. But the inside was nice, and the food was outstanding. Hopefully, I will have that video up in a couple of days.

I really enjoy this Georgia town. This food looks great. I like that you can choose to not have all items at your table.
Yes, we like how they do that, as well. And this is a beautiful town, especially at Christmas.
