Bad things happen there to children.
Beautiful! Got to go as a kid, thank you… merry Christmas 🎄 2024
Great video. The breakfast area was very cozy. The view was amazing.
@cathybriggs5846 Yes, it is a great place. We love everything about it.
Just wondering🤔,,, what was the bible opened to? Just curious 😊.
I'm sorry, but I didn't get up close enough to look. I just noticed it was open. We bring our own Bibles, so I don't usually pick up the Gideon Bibles that are left in the room. I just figured they had it open to a certain spot for a reason, so I left it alone.
Glad you liked whatabuger. I eat it all the time. Wishing you lots of fun on your jurney. I enjoyed it. I’ve been to Tgat one many times. Both dining and doordash delivery.
Yes, we really enjoy our experiences at Whataburger. We've had them a few times now. They just opened one in Georgia that we ate at last summer when we were passing through, and I heard we're getting one near us soon.
@ that’s cool. 😎
Bring it back, I used to love to go square dancing
I'm sure they will be having a lot of clogging events there throughout the Spring and Summer. And even into the Fall. They usually do. That's where we actually met Zeb Ross, who has become very famous for his clogging.
Loved the garden area and the greenhouses. That poinsettia? Tree is beautiful.
Thanks, SO MUCH, for Brightening the Christmas of this Shut-in Grandma!! 💞 😘 💞
So nostalgic! Brings back memories of visiting Tweetsie as a kid in the 70s. Never been at Christmas so this was fun to see. My grandfather was a NC sheriff and often they would have the state sheriffs convention in that area of the NC mountains. My grandparents would take me and my sister and we visited Tweetsie and the Wizard of Oz a few times.
Thank you so much for sharing your memories. I remember going to the Land Of Oz, at Beech Mountain when I was just a child. I think they still open that occasionally in October. We are glad this video brought back some fond memories for you. Thank you so much for watching! Merry Christmas!
Nice video. The lights were very pretty. We took our boys to Tweetsie in the early 80's and our oldest 2 grandsons in the early 2000's. My husband use to watch Fred Kirby's Saturday morning cartoons when he was a little boy in the early 60's. We enjoyed this video. I'm glad Tweetsie is still open after all these years.
Thank you for sharing your memories of Tweetsie and Fred Kirby. We appreciate you watching the video, and we're glad you enjoyed it! Merry Christmas!
We haven't been since our kids was little it looks very nice i enjoyed watching this thanks for taking us along
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching.
Thank you! Beautiful!
We appreciate you watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
I would love to make it out there someday. Thanks for sharing this!
You are very welcome. We hope you make it there soon! Thanks for watching!
You spent some jail time in St. Augustine and Tweetsie. I would be surprised if neither of you went to jail in Mount Airy, but I didn't see video proof. I have been to jail in all three.
She pretty much gets thrown in the slammer everywhere we go... th-cam.com/video/aW37T3pEzyo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=B5t554Ymyx0zk4jp 1:29:38
Fred Kirby was my hero when I was growing up. Most kids would have known the song, Big Rock Candy Mountain. After WWII Fred Kirby had a little success nationally with a song called Atomic Power about dropping the bomb on Japan.
@@markebass I didn't know about those songs. I'll have to look those up and see if I can find them on TH-cam or something. Thank you!
I am 62 and grew up in Charlotte. We went to Tweetsie many times and also went to his TV show for many birthdays. Fred Kirby was a great man!
I remember him being very nice, as well, although I was quite young then. Thank you so much for watching!
Looks good but toooo but Pizza way to thin for me,
Bucket list trip!!!
@@medahenderson3055 Beautiful place!
Shawnasi, your hair looks beautiful. Hope I spelled your name right. When I see it written I always say, okay so just like it sounds, then when I go to type it, it feels all wrong. Lol I had a little purse and a change purse type thing from Cherokee when I was little, or maybe it was Maggie Valley. I love going along on yalls adventures, as I am a extreme homebody.
@jennifermorris792 Thank you for noticing my hair and complimenting it. And yes, you spelled my name right. Very few people do, but it is unusual. Yes, going in those stores sure does bring back a lot of memories of things we had years ago, doesn't it?
How neat! Loud noises annoy me, but somehow the sound of the train was somewhat exciting and nostalgic. My parents took my daughter and my nephews some years back. Thanks for sharing this. Loved seeing your old photos of the children and of you guys as children.
@jennifermorris792 The train was loud, but we love listening to it. It does bring back memories. We wanted to keep that in the video as much as we could, especially the part where it was playing Jingle Bells.
Have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year !
Thank you! You, as well!
Nice video of your visit to Tweetsie Railroad.
@@georgepahno3111 Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
I'm 51 years old and went to Tweetsie a number of times as a child. I had Fred Kirby's "Pretty Little Tweetsie" record and played it constantly until at some point the record got broken and I was devastated. On our next Tweetsie trip Fred was there and my Mom told him how much I loved the record and explained that mine got destroyed, Fred then immediately GAVE me a brand new copy cementing his everlasting "HERO" status in my young eyes!
@stufferwhite Wow, thanks for sharing that wonderful story and memory. He was a very kind person.
Years ago (1979) when I went with a junior high friend on vacation to Virginia, I picked up a brochure for Luray Caverns. On the back were listed the attractions that were members of an organization called Southern Highlands Attractions. One of those was Tweetsie RR. I've wanted to go since then. Never have. Still on bucket list! Thanks again for another great video!
@@BillVol Yes, I have a few of those brochures somewhere. I do remember the Southern Highlands attractions thing. I'm a collector of brochures, no matter where I see a stand of them...rest areas, motel lobbies, etc. Thank you for watching!
We haven't been there since our daughters were little. Thank you for showing us the beautiful Christmas season there. ❤❤😊
@cathymcgee1674 You are very welcome! We were surprised, at how much they decorate for Christmas.
You and Shawnsie were so cute when you were little. Your boys are cute just like you two.
@cathymcgee1674 Thank you so much!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas!
⚜ Wow! Unless this shuttle ride is just at Christmastime, we used to could drive right up to the front of the house. I parked right there, in front, and walked a few steps to the door, just like an 'ole friend of the family. Sadly, so many things are changing, and not always for the best. I wonder, did you happen to hear the adding machine sound, coming from a 2nd floor window? I did, and thought about how amusing it was. Wasn't sure if it was a sort of joke play on "money" or if indeed, someone was actually, up there, adding up "the take" for the day.
We didn't hear any adding machine. I don't think you're allowed to drive up to the front anymore. They have 5 parking lots, the first 2 of which you can walk to the house from those. The other 3 are a little further away.
@@NCMemoryMakers ⚜ Aww, that's too bad. It would appear that the family has not only lost a certain amount of cordiality, but a degree of humor as well. Perhaps, it's all, in an effort to appear more professional. Merry Christmas, Memory Makers! BTW~ I grew up in NC, until the age of 19.
What part of North Carolina? And Merry Christmas to you and yours!
@@NCMemoryMakers⚜ Fayetteville! Woo~hoo! Go Eagles! LOL! You caught me at a Christmas party and I'm feeling my oats! Hope you have the biggest day you ever had! A real ball! Bye, NC, M & M!
The lights are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing with all of us. I hope you and your family have a blessed and Merry Christmas.
We hope you do, as well. So glad you enjoyed the lights.
I used to work there in the office. The family members are so nice and diwn to earth. Loved it
It sounds like you had a wonderful experience there. Thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas!
I’ve been to Biltmore House a few times, but never at Christmas. It’s gorgeous in Spring when the azaleas are blooming. The winery is wonderful too.
We would like to go in the Spring when everything is blooming. Honestly, the winery doesn't interest us, but we would certainly love to see the gardens growing. We're glad you have gotten to be there and experience it.
I was meaning the house
I know, but what I'm telling you, is that we called ahead of time and told them we wanted to do a video for TH-cam, and they said that was allowed. There were no restrictions on what we could or couldn't record.
Especially on the inside
Yes, the inside was beautiful!
I don't see how ur allowed to video anything bc that place is copyrighted
We called ahead of time, and they said it was fine. And they saw us doing it, so there was no issue.

The choir was The Southern Crescent Chorale of Fayetteville, GA. I sing with this group. I am from Morganton, NC. Loved your video.
They sounded awesome.
Wow, I didn't know they were from GA. I thought they were a local choir. Were you in this video when they were singing? We really enjoyed it! Morganton is not very far from us, at all. In fact, our church is near Morganton.
Like several people have already mentioned, I'm unable to go out and enjoy the lights this year and your channel has been my favorite. I went to Tweetsie when I was around 5/6 as well as a few times when I was older. I'm 58 now. Thank you for your wonderful videos and giving those of us that are unable to get out a chance to experience the beautiful lights. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
