With the hundreds of trillions of people across the galaxy who worship him, he'd become to most powerful chaos god. He's already stronger than Slaanesh or Nurgle in his current corpse state, but if he ascended he'd become more powerful than Tzeench, Khorne, Gork and Mork. He'd be unparalleled. But that's also **IF** he can be reunited with Star Child, his largest missing fragment.
Master of Mankind was a great warhammer novel. It did a really good job of explaining one thing that was always a secondary plothole, which was: "what exactly were the custodes doing during the horus heresy anyway?" I got chills the first time the sun "rose." Makes me wonder what would have happened to Horus' little rebellion of the Master of Mankind at the head of his Ten-Thousand were free to say anything about it. This book also confirmed that Magnus did do something wrong.
I hope they never do it, but an alternate history book where Big E is free to prosecute the war against Horus without worrying about the webway would be neat. Just a quick little bloodbath at Isstvan III and V, then the Emperor shows up with kills Horus with a flick of the wrist

@@Aden_III I do believe he has a special relationship with them. He shares secrets, visions, dreams and feelings with the Custodes, he never or rarely did with his primarchs. They prob really are his fav creations. They listen, are taught and know about virtualy everything, are incorruptible and loyal to the letter. They are also incredibly reliable and competent in all matters of warfare, except when it comes to warp fuggery. But that's why they are complemented by the Sisters.

I like how throughout the Master of Mankind, Big E's demeanor changes whomever he has private conversations with. I.e he's like a teacher to Ra, an uncaring scientist when talking a magos etc. I loved all the ancient lore about Big E's youth and Big E just contemplating in general.

I've never played warhammer 40k and only played one of the video games, but I absolutely love the lore. I can watch these videos all day and I think I am going to buy some of the books.
Hey Wolf Lord, I agree. The Emperor is amazing, but you can't put too much of him into the Lore. I think it's good that he remains a bit of an enigmatic mystery. It would make it a little less epic if all of his battles and deeds were described in detail. It is however, a nice occasional treat.
I’m happy they finally put a little more detail into him. He’s still an enigma, but now one with a shape. Before he was just this powerful thing in the distance pulling strings.
Think the emperor is best only ever viewed through the eyes of others. Should never have a first person prose from the emperor. As to his battle with Horus I think it needs to be his humanity that allows Horus to almost defeat him. Emperor doesn't give up hope for Horus until the very last moment at which point he obliterates Horus completely body and soul. I don't like the Horus is as powerful as the Emperor angle as that makes that level of power too easy to attain. Why not any of the other primarchs could be Horus mark 2 then. Horus is first among equals but no more powerful than his brothers.
Horus was never the GEoMs equal, even after being supercharged by the Chaos Gods. Emps held back that whole fight because he didnt want to believe Horus was lost. It was only when pushed at the last when he had no choice he let rip, and as soon as he did he obliterated Horus completely.
its not exactly the same power level. horus was buffed by all 4 chaos gods together. beyond anything they buffed before. even more than their champions. and he still got basically atomized. so if not him loving his son he could have just killed him entering the room. but being his father he probably wanted to save him until the very end.
I think it's more appropriate to say that the Horus is first among the primarchs even in power, because frankly he just is (only Sanguinius can compete), but he is no way even near to The Emperor
Kind of surprised that the Emperor uses a Bolter and not a Plasma or Volkite weapon or something unique to him from the dark age of technology that he could use to channel/amplify his psychic power through without the need of stoping to reload well that is if he ever used it.

He will never be playable on the tabletop. Not happening, ever. The emperor could pretty much defeat any army, at any point cost with low difficulty. Same reason why Lord kroak in fantasy is only playable in his "relic priest" form, the living version would be the end all of every army in that setting. These kinds of godlike characters are best kept off the tabletop.
I’d like to pitch a novel to the Black Library. It would be about the Unification Wars and feature Constantine Valdor as a POV character, as well as others, and it would concern the last campaigns of the Thunder Warriors, the kind of brotherhood that they had, the relationships they had with the early Imperial organisation, and the problems that would arise because of their blood lust. Finally, it would conclude with the Emperor’s purging of the Thunder Warriors at the hands of the Legio Custodes. I’d call it The First Betrayer.

In my opinion your best video, a beautiful marriage between your outstanding narration and the source material. The emperor is the height of how epic the fluff can be.
I loved this book. I have, by no means, read all of it’s precursors, but from what everyone had been saying about it, I just had to skip ahead and treat myself. Originally, I started at the beginning, and read the first 9 books in order. I’m an instant gratification type person when it comes to purchases, and so when book 10 wasn’t available at my local hobby store, local GW store, or bookstore, I went out of order and picked up “The First Heretic”, because I had finished “Mechanicum” and desperately needed a new book to read, and I wasn’t going to wait to have one delivered. “The First Heretic” was the next in order that they had in stock, and I soon found myself in the same dilemma a couple of days later, and so got all of the books from “Corax” to “Shattered Legions”. I’m rereading “Corax”, as I find myself in the same position once again, but it’s not quite payday yet. I’m also rereading it because I’m a huge fan of the Raven Guard (I’m currently about 4000 points in to building a Heresy-era Raven Guard army for 30K) and I just wanted some of the lore to be fresh in my mind. Anyway (jeez, I really wrote a bit of a history book there, didn’t I? Sorry!), I thoroughly enjoyed “Master Of Mankind”- I totally get what you were saying about getting the chills during parts- and that I also prefer the version of The Emperor where he is the “loving father” of 21 sons. It’s much easier to like him when he’s not ultra-pragmatic, treating everyone as if they were just disposable tools- if you’ve read the short story “The Board Is Set”, by Gav Thorpe- that’s exactly how I DON’T like the Emperor. But the heroics on display, the love and dedication of the Custodes toward him, and his sheer “bad-assery”, made me get chills many times. I absolutely loved your video on this book- it reminded me of why I enjoyed it so much, and also brought it to the top of my list of books to reread. Again, sorry about the length of my comment, but thanks for a great video- it’s much appreciated!
Something I’ve been wondering, is the devolution of how the emperor interacts with the primarchs a character arc we don’t get a full direct look at since he isn’t the main character in most novels he is in? Like. He starts out as the loving father and as the heresy starts and drags on with him having to be strapped to the golden throne and dealing with the constant psychic battling he does everyday what’s led to him being cold and disconnected from his loyal sons?
This book was amazing! This book, and Malcador: The Sigilite, I think that is what it was called, helped me understand why Big E is such a See You Next Tuesday now. :( Great freaking book! The audio book was ace!

Loved the vid. Big E turns up and the daemons start bricking it, after all the emperor is most deffo the most powerful of alpha level psykers(Alphas level psykers are the things that daemons are afraid of because they are strong enough to not just banish a daemon but to destroy their essence utterly and big E is doing this on a massive scale). His mere presence starting the BBQ before he even starts getting to work with his sword. He starts really turning up the psychic whammy, teleporting and telekinetic sword throws and retrievals in short huge golden whooparse session. Also loved that custode leaving his spear in the ground and getting to work with his swords without so much as breaking stride.
For me this IS the legion of the damned, it just makes so much sense, like being, basically, imperial demons. Their souls kept intact in the warp by their frustration and rage due to the betrayal. Emotions, like the fuel for all other chaos-gods. Already planning to do a squad of these, based on MK3 and MK4-powerarmor.
This is my Favourite Book that I own from the Black Library, followed very closely by Fulgrim The Palatine Phoenix. The Black Library has been making create books and I do feel that they've been getting better and better with each book :) And thank you for choosing this Scene!
While I may be the only one, I have always wanted a story that delves into the actions and plans of the Emperor in Earth's past. From ancient times and The Dragon to The Dark Age of Technology and it's wonders. Maybe even some stories during the Age of Strife. Willing to bet that would be some very interesting pages.

Does anyone remember in which book the Emperor had a long conversation with one of the Custodes and took him on some sort vision quest and told him he knew the heresey would happen and how all this would turn out right from the start? It was weird but good.

Aaron Dembski Bowden is easily the best author that has written novels for the Horus Heresy. Just a spectacular author. Such action. Such juicy lore. Amazing imagery and visuals we get from his vivid descriptive writing. He evokes a certain sense of scale, of power and destruction that none of the other authors can quite hold a candle to. Just started reading this book. Can't wait.
Custodes are about 9 feet tall, and TBH I wouldn't count that image as "lore accurate" to how tall they really are because the sisters of silence all look to be about Astartes height and they aren't.

Holy shit! I never knew how good the books were, I like how they treat the books like a true fantasy/sci-fi thing rather than like a glorified commercial for the tabletop game (e.g. yugioh quickly became a commercial for overpowered cards).

He glows like the Emporeor but he's only twenty years old. He calls Gulliman son and I have returned to continue our work . Just a thought but why not maybe the dieing Elder world have put many souls to work the golden throne freeing the body to carry on ...Whatch out Chaos the true master is knocking your door !
Every time Big E hits the page, it occurs to me just how similar he is to, and how much he is based on, Robert E Howard's Conan. Just blazing speed behind massive, incalculable strength...and then we get the bonus power armor and his insane psychic ability. A joy to listen to. I could imagine Big E as a descendant of Conan or something like that in my own head-canon. And for anyone who enjoys this stuff, you've got to check out the original Conan pulp short stories from the 20s and 30s. They're fantastic.
Back in the '80s, when I spent most of my childhood, my mom would occasionally bring home a Conan comic. They were awesome. I moved on to Howard's actual works during the '90s. I also thoroughly enjoyed Solomon Kane. "N'longa powerful juju." You should check out the manga "Berserk". You'll love Guts.
@@joelfernandez536 It's rockin', to be sure. I'm dying to know how things are gonna ultimately shape up. I discovered "Berserk" fairly recently, about 2 years ago or so. Guts is the only character thus far I would put in the same league as our beloved Cimmerian, and Conan has held the throne in my mind for roughly 30 years. I made some rough calculations based on estimates I made from the art, and concluded the Dragonslayer approaches if not exceeds 700lbs (edit: assuming it's simple iron). Guts has wielded the behemoth with only his teeth!
Hmmm aren't those batteries a bit of a retconning? I remember that in 3rd edition fluff the sacrifices were done by mechanicus priests stabbing the psykers to death. Then their bodies were transferred out of the palace on a conveyor belt and dumped, the pile of corpses already being the size of a mountain...

I've never played warhammer 40k and only played one of the video games, but I absolutely love the lore. I can watch these videos all day and I think I am going to buy some of the books.

The Emperor is amazing, but you can't put too much of him into the Lore.
I think it's good that he remains a bit of an enigmatic mystery.
It would make it a little less epic if all of his battles and deeds were described in detail.
It is however, a nice occasional treat.

Think the emperor is best only ever viewed through the eyes of others. Should never have a first person prose from the emperor.
As to his battle with Horus I think it needs to be his humanity that allows Horus to almost defeat him. Emperor doesn't give up hope for Horus until the very last moment at which point he obliterates Horus completely body and soul. I don't like the Horus is as powerful as the Emperor angle as that makes that level of power too easy to attain. Why not any of the other primarchs could be Horus mark 2 then. Horus is first among equals but no more powerful than his brothers.
Horus was never the GEoMs equal, even after being supercharged by the Chaos Gods. Emps held back that whole fight because he didnt want to believe Horus was lost.
It was only when pushed at the last when he had no choice he let rip, and as soon as he did he obliterated Horus completely.
You don't hold back so much that you are MORTALLY WOUNDED...
its not exactly the same power level.
horus was buffed by all 4 chaos gods together.
beyond anything they buffed before.
even more than their champions.
and he still got basically atomized. so if not him loving his son he could have just killed him entering the room. but being his father he probably wanted to save him until the very end.

I think it's more appropriate to say that the Horus is first among the primarchs even in power, because frankly he just is (only Sanguinius can compete), but he is no way even near to The Emperor
Kind of surprised that the Emperor uses a Bolter and not a Plasma or Volkite weapon or something unique to him from the dark age of technology that he could use to channel/amplify his psychic power through without the need of stoping to reload well that is if he ever used it.

Strider Most definitely, it would be impossible to kill him but chaos empowered Horus could at least try.
He will never be playable on the tabletop. Not happening, ever. The emperor could pretty much defeat any army, at any point cost with low difficulty. Same reason why Lord kroak in fantasy is only playable in his "relic priest" form, the living version would be the end all of every army in that setting.
These kinds of godlike characters are best kept off the tabletop.

I’d like to pitch a novel to the Black Library. It would be about the Unification Wars and feature Constantine Valdor as a POV character, as well as others, and it would concern the last campaigns of the Thunder Warriors, the kind of brotherhood that they had, the relationships they had with the early Imperial organisation, and the problems that would arise because of their blood lust. Finally, it would conclude with the Emperor’s purging of the Thunder Warriors at the hands of the Legio Custodes. I’d call it The First Betrayer.

The epilogue of the story is quite something, they words that come from Emperor's mouth are quite terrifying I think. Awesome book.

I feel like the emperor had the mindset of “well that’s just great” when Magnus fucked up. “Now I have Horus and his band of bad boys raping their way across the galaxy and a realm of demons spilling out”
In my opinion your best video, a beautiful marriage between your outstanding narration and the source material. The emperor is the height of how epic the fluff can be.
I loved this book. I have, by no means, read all of it’s precursors, but from what everyone had been saying about it, I just had to skip ahead and treat myself. Originally, I started at the beginning, and read the first 9 books in order. I’m an instant gratification type person when it comes to purchases, and so when book 10 wasn’t available at my local hobby store, local GW store, or bookstore, I went out of order and picked up “The First Heretic”, because I had finished “Mechanicum” and desperately needed a new book to read, and I wasn’t going to wait to have one delivered. “The First Heretic” was the next in order that they had in stock, and I soon found myself in the same dilemma a couple of days later, and so got all of the books from “Corax” to “Shattered Legions”. I’m rereading “Corax”, as I find myself in the same position once again, but it’s not quite payday yet. I’m also rereading it because I’m a huge fan of the Raven Guard (I’m currently about 4000 points in to building a
Heresy-era Raven Guard army for 30K) and I just wanted some of the lore to be fresh in my mind. Anyway (jeez, I really wrote a bit of a history book there, didn’t I? Sorry!), I thoroughly enjoyed “Master Of Mankind”- I totally get what you were saying about getting the chills during parts- and that I also prefer the version of The Emperor where he is the “loving father” of 21 sons. It’s much easier to like him when he’s not ultra-pragmatic, treating everyone as if they were just disposable tools- if you’ve read the short story “The Board Is Set”, by Gav Thorpe- that’s exactly how I DON’T like the Emperor. But the heroics on display, the love and dedication of the Custodes toward him, and his sheer “bad-assery”, made me get chills many times. I absolutely loved your video on this book- it reminded me of why I enjoyed it so much, and also brought it to the top of my list of books to reread. Again, sorry about the length of my comment, but thanks for a great video- it’s much appreciated!

Something I’ve been wondering, is the devolution of how the emperor interacts with the primarchs a character arc we don’t get a full direct look at since he isn’t the main character in most novels he is in?
Like. He starts out as the loving father and as the heresy starts and drags on with him having to be strapped to the golden throne and dealing with the constant psychic battling he does everyday what’s led to him being cold and disconnected from his loyal sons?
This book was amazing! This book, and Malcador: The Sigilite, I think that is what it was called, helped me understand why Big E is such a See You Next Tuesday now. :( Great freaking book! The audio book was ace!

Loved the vid. Big E turns up and the daemons start bricking it, after all the emperor is most deffo the most powerful of alpha level psykers(Alphas level psykers are the things that daemons are afraid of because they are strong enough to not just banish a daemon but to destroy their essence utterly and big E is doing this on a massive scale). His mere presence starting the BBQ before he even starts getting to work with his sword. He starts really turning up the psychic whammy, teleporting and telekinetic sword throws and retrievals in short huge golden whooparse session. Also loved that custode leaving his spear in the ground and getting to work with his swords without so much as breaking stride.

For me this IS the legion of the damned, it just makes so much sense, like being, basically, imperial demons. Their souls kept intact in the warp by their frustration and rage due to the betrayal. Emotions, like the fuel for all other chaos-gods. Already planning to do a squad of these, based on MK3 and MK4-powerarmor.
This is my Favourite Book that I own from the Black Library, followed very closely by Fulgrim The Palatine Phoenix.
The Black Library has been making create books and I do feel that they've been getting better and better with each book :)

While I may be the only one, I have always wanted a story that delves into the actions and plans of the Emperor in Earth's past. From ancient times and The Dragon to The Dark Age of Technology and it's wonders. Maybe even some stories during the Age of Strife. Willing to bet that would be some very interesting pages.

The last time he lead his men was during the assault on the Vengeful Spirit, at the end of the Siege of Terra where he slew Horus Lupercal
Does anyone remember in which book the Emperor had a long conversation with one of the Custodes and took him on some sort vision quest and told him he knew the heresey would happen and how all this would turn out right from the start? It was weird but good.
This definitely one of my favorite Heresy novels. From all viewpoints it paints an amazing scene and tells a woeful tale of the Webway Project

Aaron Dembski Bowden is easily the best author that has written novels for the Horus Heresy. Just a spectacular author. Such action. Such juicy lore. Amazing imagery and visuals we get from his vivid descriptive writing. He evokes a certain sense of scale, of power and destruction that none of the other authors can quite hold a candle to. Just started reading this book. Can't wait.
I find it funny how the Emperor still caries around a bolter when he has the power to literally vaporize you with his mind.
Sometimes you just want to shot someone in the old fashioned way.

Custodes are about 9 feet tall, and TBH I wouldn't count that image as "lore accurate" to how tall they really are because the sisters of silence all look to be about Astartes height and they aren't.

Holy shit! I never knew how good the books were, I like how they treat the books like a true fantasy/sci-fi thing rather than like a glorified commercial for the tabletop game (e.g. yugioh quickly became a commercial for overpowered cards).

The emporeor should be able to handle anything because he's the reflection to chaos. THE old lesson of ying and yang.. Look at teachings of the world today the good ones that is . THE emporeor opens his eyes "boy that's some hangover cryed the pink demons looks like the other has awaken. Will there be a 40k book telling the body of the Emporeor dissappers on the throne and the Ultramarines meet a figure on one of the 500 worlds. He glows like the Emporeor but he's only twenty years old. He calls Gulliman son and I have returned to continue our work .
Just a thought but why not maybe the dieing Elder world have put many souls to work the golden throne freeing the body to carry on ...Whatch out Chaos the true master is knocking your door !

Every time Big E hits the page, it occurs to me just how similar he is to, and how much he is based on, Robert E Howard's Conan. Just blazing speed behind massive, incalculable strength...and then we get the bonus power armor and his insane psychic ability. A joy to listen to. I could imagine Big E as a descendant of Conan or something like that in my own head-canon. And for anyone who enjoys this stuff, you've got to check out the original Conan pulp short stories from the 20s and 30s. They're fantastic.
Back in the '80s, when I spent most of my childhood, my mom would occasionally bring home a Conan comic. They were awesome. I moved on to Howard's actual works during the '90s. I also thoroughly enjoyed Solomon Kane. "N'longa powerful juju." You should check out the manga "Berserk". You'll love Guts.

@@joelfernandez536 It's rockin', to be sure. I'm dying to know how things are gonna ultimately shape up. I discovered "Berserk" fairly recently, about 2 years ago or so. Guts is the only character thus far I would put in the same league as our beloved Cimmerian, and Conan has held the throne in my mind for roughly 30 years. I made some rough calculations based on estimates I made from the art, and concluded the Dragonslayer approaches if not exceeds 700lbs (edit: assuming it's simple iron). Guts has wielded the behemoth with only his teeth!

I remember that in 3rd edition fluff the sacrifices were done by mechanicus priests stabbing the psykers to death.
Then their bodies were transferred out of the palace on a conveyor belt and dumped, the pile of corpses already being the size of a mountain...
